Very friendly central location. Very spacious

The apartment was spacious ,perfect for our needs, quiet location and clean. Which ticks all the boxes.

Wi-fi signal strength very weak but that would be the only problem.

Lovely place and facilities. Very cheap for 4 of us overnight and ideal location to Windermere.

Location--near restaurants--walking distance, parking available.beds comfortable.Showers very powerful. Irene was very welcoming. Should have book another night as we still did not finish visiting Lake District ie: Wastwater and Buttermere.

But really cold in ground floor! Shower doesn't serve warm water well which is really aweful. Kind of got cold at that night. Cough..x

Very friendly and helpful owner. Accommodation was superb and very clean and comfortable. Central location, really handy for shops, restaurants etc. Plenty of excellent walks nearby. Use of leisure facilities in Bowness was a bonus. Great for families/ groups of friends. Will certainly try to come back in the near future. Thank you.

An earlier check-in would be good and also a slightly later check-out, say 11 am.

Good location, Good facilities, reasonable price

The owner operator detracted from the experience by 1) complaining that we were late checking in. they have a window from 4 till 6pm??? 2) leaving me standing in the rain while she reprimanded me 3) made me get my family out of the car in the pissing down rain before she was ready to get them into the house and then leaving my wife there while she described how to use the front door (just a normal front door). She stated that everybody had to be briefed on the elements of the house? 4) she was very condescending with the run through of the house even showing us how to press the igniters on the gas oven. Yes is was just a normal oven. 5) Initially attempting to charge me 10% as I had an overseas card. It was just a visa! and then charging me 3% for the credit card which was not mentioned at booking and blaming it on the fact that once she had paid the booking company there wasn't much left? 6) Setting a timer on the heating system as it costs a lot to heat an apartment you know. It was winter in the Lake District. When I asked her to come and change it she had been drinking! 7) I would not like to stay there as a hill walker. The owner would freak out if you came back dirty one day. 8) If you are from overseas you will be treated like an imbecile. I am British living in Australia but you would think I was from another planet without a clue how it is done in a civilised country.

All good, home from home and ideal for touring the lakes. The spa was an excellent addition to the accomodation, which was also excellent :-)

What's not to like?

We were able to enter before 1600hrs We requested access at 1400hrs and this was accomodated.

I booked through booking.com and all my card details had been taken to take a 50% deposit. When I arrived at the apartment I was told by the landlady that no money had been taken and that I had to pay the full amount of £140 I couldnt check if the 50% deposit had been taken or not. I felt that I had given my card details for nothing? I received an email from bookings.com to confirm that my deposit had been paid? This made me feel tricked and I was not very happy. I only give out my card details when neccessary, the land lady told me that bookings.com never take the deposit money. Not a happy bunny!

Location was great - 3 mins walk to village centre with good facilities without being over developed, 10 mins to Ambleside via car and plenty of walks within a 15 mins walk or car journey. Very friendly owners made us feel welcome from the start, gave us great recommendations on walks, family activites and where to eat in the area. Apartment was fine - clean and spacious with plenty of utensils/electrical goods. Mix of crockery and cutlery added to the overall charm and reinforced that this apartment wasn't corporate or a chain - exactly what we were looking for after a long weekend in a Hilton.

Perhaps the booking in policy could have been clearer - 4pm is the time you can check in from and you have to knock on the door of the apartments (you'll see what I mean when you get there!). We arrived early and went for a walk around Windermere which was fine but a clear 'check in from 4pm' statement would have been better for me.

Really clean, well maintained everything provided for an dtaken care off!! Above all both Irene and Tony are excellent hosts- both made us feel cozy, comfortable, esay and homely!! Good central heating as well!! Minutes away from Windermere railway station, in the heart of Windremere town so walking distance to market and super shops as well!

It's a very nice hotel, family friendly, and the owner Irene is also a very nice lady. We had a one night stay last Thursday, and impressed about the clean, tidy and fully equipped apartment when we arrived, and it was warm throughout the night, my two year daughter loved that place much. We will definitely stay again if we goes to Lake district again.

They were in a good handy location.

The customer service was very poor, we arrived early as we'd been travelling for 15-20 hours and we were very tired, as well has had a 4yr old child with us. We could appreciate the fact that the apartment wasn't ready, but to not have it available for the next 5 hours was a bit much. When we queried what time we needed to be back, they got extremely defensive and downright rude. Travelling from New Zealand, and having been a part of the hospitality industry for awhile, this was unacceptable in our books. The owners were full of excuses and rather than just remedying the situation, they proceeded to supply us with excuse after excuse even went as far as saying if you want to cancel you can cancel, and try to find somewhere else to stay if they'll take you!.... When you're tired and just need a shower and a lot of sleep this is not the experience you want to receive. We will not be recommending Oakdene Apartments to any of our friends or family, and certainly will not be staying there again.

We found the landlady very friendly and felt that if we had needed anything could have easily gone to her. Everything was perfect for a self catering stay. I asked for the apartment with 2 doubles and two bathrooms as we were staying along with my sister and her husband and we got what we asked for. Lovely and clean nice open plan lounge/diner/kitchen which made it nicer all being in the same room when I was cooking.

Our bed was a little too hard for me but my sister said theirs was fine, so maybe it was just my old bones.

Location is good.

The landlady destroyed our mood on the first day. She's behaving like a school teacher, telling us what to do and what not to do in her 'lovely' apartment. She told us to believe her that no hotel would allow customers to do laundry because she's been doing this business for tens of years. I could not believe what I've heard. Also, there was only a corner in the double room where wifi could be connected.

It's a quiet place and value for the money, for short stay traveller, why not?

Adequate cooking utensils. Beautiful bedrooms and comfortable beds.

No washing machine. The housekeeper not allow to hang clothes in the apartment.
