The room was very good, with nice touches like robes and a rainfall shower. Hotel was in a nice location too.
Room was a touch on the cool side when we arrived but this was rectified.
the staff and the food!
The hospitality. The hotel staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful and the food was amazing. I was on a four-day business trip and was actually a bit reluctant to leave, it was that good. I'm looking forward to returning and will recommend to others
The en-suite bathroom had recently been refurbished and looked beautiful but was actually physically very cold
Friendly staff. Great location. Comfortable room.
Parking overnight could be a problem.
Good location Clean rooms Very friendly and welcoming staff
Food was expensive for the taste and variety available.
easy to find free parking right outside the door free wifi excellent customer service ease of stay breakfast room amenities
restaurant was incredible!
Room could be a little warmer, I was offered a heater but declined.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very comfortable and cozy with a wood fire. Staff accommodated our request for breakfast at 7:00, usual time is 7:30.
Firstly the staff were excellent. Extremely attentive and friendly The restaurant was really nice, slightly overpriced but worth it as we only stayed one night. Room was really comfortable, nice bed shower etc. Couldn't fault it really. Would stay again for sure.
Great location, friendly welcome and eager to please. Quaint and full of character.
Young waiter in restaurant who was pleasant but didn't have a clue. No heating in bathroom.
Location, very helpful staff, comfortable rooms, great value.
The Oak House is a little hotel and pub/resturant set in a small medieval village square where there is always something going on. The room was good, albeit a little cold but then it was -2 outside and this is an old building. The bed was super large and amazingly comfortable. The hosts are very welcoming and make you feel at home, especially when sat around the open fire toasting marshmellows! The food is excellent. Try the grazing menu and have a little bit of everything or choose from the small but perfectly formed Al A Carte menu. We very much enjoyed our stay at the Oak House and would recommend it to anyone visiting Cheddar Gorge or the surrounding area.
We only booked this hotel day before but we were made to feel very welcome.Friendliness of staff made us feel very welcome. Great food too! Lovely wet room. Cosy seating by the side of log fire.
Bedroom a bit cold to start with but soon warmed up. Sat by log fire til it did.
The staff were helpful and the hotel was easy to find, plenty of tea & coffee plus a bottle of water each which was a nice touch. Plenty of hot water in the morning. And the cooked breakfast was superb, really good and the restaurant area is very nice.
We only stayed one night so it wasn't a problem but the room is a bit tired and the bathroom would be better as a shower only as its a bit small. The tv is quite old and we had to retune it to get just some basic channels. And the sound proofing really needs addressing!
We have stayed for two nights, free upgrade to an excellent room. Good treat. Worth more than we spent.
Location was brilliant! Close to Cheddar Gorge which was why we were visiting. Felt very welcomed by staff and had an overall fantastic stay.
The bath plug kept slipping out? So couldn't fill the bath up, however the shower was great.
The bed was the most comfortable we've had Staff were very helpful The Inn is in a great location - Axbridge Village Square
Little or no internet access
The place is under new ownership and a lot of money seems to have been spent updating it.
A few minor teething problems, eg smell of fresh paint, one bedside lamp missing etc. We stayed here just over two years ago; the price of accommodation and food have increased noticeably. Internet reception in our bedroom was poor.
If you are visiting Axbridge or the surrounding towns this is ideally situated. It is in the Medieval Sqaure and overlooks the town hall. Great new owner - very attentive to detail (just need to loose some of the old staff!) Good rooms, nicely furnished Lovely restaurant and bar area, just VERY quiet
Small bed - too short! Rooms very hot and hard to control the heat. Staff are seemingly always absent when needed, you can wait at the bar for 10 minutes to get a drink! Would function much better as a restuarant/pub if better known beers/lagers were on offer.
Everything and wished I could have stayed longer.
Stayed here while visiting cheddar gorge and it was lovely! Staff were so polite and always smiling, couldnt do enough for you! Hotel itself was lovely and in a lovely place. Bed was so comfy could have stayed in there all weekend! Thank you for a wonderful stay! We will be coming back for another stay!
The beds, the bedding, the towels, tea and coffee in room, the cleanliness, the friendly staff, a loaf at breakfast that you can cut yourself to make your own toast, thats all I require for breakfast. I'm glad that you can have food every night now, and it need not be a large meal.
Can't think of anything!........ Oh we couldn't get broadband in our room so had to go and sit in reception, but the matter is in hand so shouldn't be a problem the next time we go.
The host, staff, food, welcome and general ambiance. Together with the locals at the bar, makes it a great place to stay.
