Staff and service was great Nice breakfast
Rooms were clean and comfortable. with tea/coffee facility. All we needed for our overnight stay. Reasonably priced. .
Not very good soundproofing. Next door`s conversation was as though it was being held in our room.
Very caring and helpful staff....made life easy in an unknown terrain.highly recommend
Its just placed too far.
Not too difficult to find. Near local amenities
Terrible squeaky thin uncomfortable bed, spartan room. Tiny tv. Invisible staff. Out door smoking area is below bedroom window so noisy. It's above a pub so be warned. And grubby.
It was near lots restaurants and pubs. hotel clean and breakfast was lovely
really nice room and good breakfast
Very convenient in the hub of the town.
Shower ran either scalding or freezing no in between. Heating not really efficient for the size of the room.
helpfull staff good food
had to park on road bit of a walk to our room on second floor
Just very tired and low end feeling
Attractive room. Handy for town centre and restaurants.
Shower lacked water pressure. Low grade sausage with breakfast
Excellent live band on in the evening. Great for live music lovers. If you want a quiet night this is not the hotel for you.
Good value for money...good sized rooms
Walls of bedrooms a bit thin so woken early in the morning by noise from other rooms....this is the only thing I didn't like
The hotel was dated but had all facilities we required for a weekend stay, the staff were excellent and the rooms were spacious and clean.
The decor is very dated but that isn't a massive problem.
Right in the town center and free parking
Breakfast was very poor and fire alarm went off one night and no member of staff seemed to be about
Stayed here for four nights, as my usual Essex hostelry was full. Room (28) was very good, with a spa bath, if you like that sort of thing. Tried it once. Bar below hotel is fine. Beer is only £2.70 a pint, and Hobgoblin is £2.90. If you are on a budget and/or like Chinese food, you can order over the bar, and they bring your meal from the attached Chinese restaurant with a plate and cutlery. The Chef's special fried rice is a perfectly good meal in itself, at £5 with the resident's 10% discount. Wifi good in room.
For some reason the pillows (four of them in the double bed) were all uncomfortable. Also wasn't keen on the fire alarm going off at 2.30am, but after 30 minutes out in the cold we were allowed back in. Not the hotel's fault, and only happened once.
Location of hotel near to plenty of food outlets
Broken sleep due to an idiot setting the fire alarm off at 2:00 am cannot blame hotel for that!
Paid for a small double and was given a large double. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were are friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was couldn't have been better considering it was free!
The only thing we could fault was the long walk to our room but it wasn't a big deal as we only stayed one night
The hotel is in a good location, easy access to London, Southend, etc.
There was dust on top of the pictures, and the bathroom fan had dust in and around it,just needs a little more care when cleaning.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. A good sized single room with adequate facilities. The breakfast in the morning was ok but took a while to come.
The general cleanliness was ok but I found lots of pubic hairs on the bathroom floor which was off putting.
eating breakfast in the bar rather than a restaurant
Staff and facilities were excellent
As a hotel sandwiched between takeaways and restaurants, surrounded by car-parks and with a two star rating, I imagined we were in for a rough night. How wrong I was. The room was comfortable, clean, well decorated and the downstairs bar area was the same. Even the breakfast was of a high quality. Would stay again
Nothing to report
Booked one night stay fairly last minute, as usual hotel was full. Good location with plenty of food choices and bars. Friendly welcome at reception, and excellent breakfast in morning from 7am. Good night's sleep - no intrusive lighting. Hotel bar actually a pub, but all fine - natives are friendly. Walked from there to a different pub, but beer was better in hotel. Sky TV in hotel bar (if you like that sort of thing), plus pool and darts in adjoining room. Excellent wifi. Would definitely stay again.
Single bed, but had booked a single room, I suppose. Some humming noise in internal rooms, but did not disturb night's sleep. Parking not brilliant (only 3 spaces), but able to park in street (or Asda car park, a possible alternative). TV reception in room poor.
Sevice. Price. Location. Ideal for the solo traveller that needs to be there.
Bar was a local's pub so not very comfortable to relax in. Noisy. Doors slamming due to the nature of the lock. Every time a corridor fire door opened the room door rattles. Curry stains on the furniture in the room. Cigarette burns on the carpet. Would not bring my wife and child here.
water was hot quiet room bed very comfy so comft we missed breakfast.
we missed breakfast.(our fault)
