Score from 135 reviews Very good
lady who served at breakfast was friendly and attentive. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Hotel is on a bus route
Reception seemed to be rarely manned. Hotel is pretty far from town and pricey for a taxi - would have been better to pay more per night and stay in town
Everything Phil was so helpful the breakfast is superb and pub food excellent car park is great the rooms are large and very well furnished
The hotel is on main road to St Helier, bus 10 mins or walk 35. Attatched to pub and food is excellent and sensible prices.Breakfast is good, friendly waitress and served on a HOT plate! Easy parking for car.
Only downside for us and other guests was rooms hot at night. it was a hot week it has to be said, whilst it would not be cost efficient to have aircon I do think with the addition of maybe a ceiling fan or similar this hotel would go from good to great and would be a first choice for many people.
Very comfortable & clean accommodation. Food in the restaurant was fab & the staff were very attentive & accommodating.
tinned potatoes on the island of Jersey!!!!
The breakfast was ample and the lady serving was efficient and always gave us a warm welcome. The rooms were large and comfortable, as were the beds. The restaurant and bar are fantastic, serving a very extensive and tasty menu.
Occasionally the reception desk was unattended. With no bell or message left, it could sometimes be difficult to track a member of staff down when you needed one. As many functions are held at the hotel as well as the requirements of the day to day running of the bar/restaurant, sometimes this side of the business seemed to take priority over the guests' needs. The rooms and bathroom suites were becoming a bit tired and could do with refurbishment. For example, the taps in the bathroom were stiff and the whole suite just needed updating. The cleanliness of the rooms was adequate, but more attention to detail was required to bring them up to an ideal standard. For example, there was a dirty handprint on the wall by the bed, which should have been painted over. In addition, there was what appeared to be a blood stain on the base of the bedside lamp.
Friendliness , quietness , space in bedrooms Food good and staff excellent
Bathrooms could do with an update , shower poor
location. ease of access to all parts of the island. and a dammed good pub/restaurant located within.the breakfast was of good choice and the waitress was very pleasant. a nice person to meet. . plenty of parking.
pillows were in need of disposing.they were flat and lifeless. we went out and purchased our own. the showers could do with minor updating. in all, nothing serious.will definitely return.
all the staff are great and very helpful and the food is great
Comfortable and value for money.Clean spacious rooms.
Staff great, lovely food. Slightly old fashioned style but still very clean and warm. Good location if you want to go into town centre. Good distance from beaches and bays. Recommend getting a hire car. Strongly recommended.
Shower pressure was very poor
Everthing was fine, planning on going back next week for another stay
Very friendly and helpful, location just what we wanted. Room was clean and tidy.
The room was hot, so needed window open. But was above kitchen so was noisy till restaurant was closed.
Interaction with the staff was excellent. The fact that it is out in the country.
As we are becoming older a shower over the bath poses problems
The hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating. My sister and I were very well looked after. Would recommend the Hotel to others as long as they had their own transport.
Unfortunately we had to use public transport while we were there and the bus to Trinity was not very frequent and the last bus of an evening was 5.50. which didn't allow us to pursue things of an evening in the town of St Helier.
peaceful location, room at the back overlooked fields.good sized room.Liked having sheet and blanket on the bed instead of duvet as the weather was warm during our stay,Comfy bed .
breakfast was a little bland, would have liked a choice of fruit or yoghurt. Also clearer indication of where to find staff as when we arrived reception was not manned.Note to say ask in the bar on the desk.Ended up going into the kitchen as the only bar we could see was not manned either.
Friendliness of all personnel Cleanliness of hotel Food good
Minor complaint...would have preferred breakfast time for weekdays same as weekends ie. 8.00-9.30
Location and plenty of parking Restaurant on siite very good
Over all I would recommend the hotel.
This is not meant as a criticism I personally would have liked a larger TV screen in the room and a more powerful shower.
My wife have stayed here many times and we always feel welcome and the standards are very good. The attached Blacksmiths Arms has great food at reasonable prices. I highly recommend this hotel.
Did not dislike anything.
Very comfortable room; delightful restaurant and service. Conveniently located for access to all parts of the Island, without the need to drive around St Helier first. Have stayed there before, and will do so again.
In one word everthing, I just cannot find fault with anything at the Oaklands, at other hotels you do not get the Customer Service you are just a number, but at Oaklands you are made to feel really welcome and the Customer Service is top class, roll on next vist 2014
Excellent freshly cooked breakfast served by pleasant staff
Not very welcoming on arrival. Seemed more concerned about Christmas lunch they were serving. Room was very cold with no heating on even though it was a very cold day.
Connected to Blacksmith's Arms which serves excellent food.
