The hotel was very nice, the beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. I am a fan of my full English breakfasts though, especially before a hard days work so a cooked breakfast option would have been fantastic.

Pleasant helpful proprietor, en-suite in bedroom and comfortable bed, Quiet except for main road nearby but traffic light at night so O.K. Good location for visiting all east side of Island with a good bus service up and down and one service across to Newport.

The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hotel was very clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. We would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family and we are very likely to use it again. 10 out of 10. Parking was a bit cramped but staff were always helpful in resolving the issue.

We were welcomed and everything explained to us. The quality of furnishing and toiletries was very good as was the breakfast - not seen red wine on the breakfast menu before!! The water system was very noisy when the adjacent room was using it at night

The owners are very friendly and helpful, the free wifi is a bonus but not reliable in the bedrooms. Location is good with easy access to both Ryde and Sandown but quiet enough to get some sleep. Didn't use the pool but it looked good. My single room was very small.

They provided nice touches such as fresh milk in the room and an honesty bar. The beds were clean and fresh. The place is a mix of dated decoration with some new pieces of furniture - it needs a bit of tlc as it is looking a little worn and confused.

Oaklands House is an immaculately-kept bed and breakfast house near Sandown. The owner - Jan - is lovely and really helpful. The continental breakfast was very good with a lot of choice. The location is good although we had a car to get around. I would recommend Oaklands House to family and friends. We were also lucky that a local pub, the Yarbridge Inn had just re-opened. It's a couple of minutes away with a lovely atmosphere and good quality and reasonable valued food. Nothing

Jan and her family made us very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble! The central location of Oaklands was also fantastic, quiet location but within 10 mins of Sandown and Ryde, 6-8 mins walk to the Roman Villa, within 10 minutes to other attractions like the Garlic Farm. We would definitely recommend for a lovely stay and break away on the Isle of Wight. Remember to take your swimming wear, Oaklands has a lovely heated outdoor pool, we forgot ours! Sarah & Brian

The bed was a dream, better than ours at home, slept very well. Nothing was too much trouble for Jan and her mum. Lovely contact before we arrived giving us great instructions on how to get there, and things to do whilst we were there. Lovely welcome on arrival, showing us our room, how to use everything, and where everything was. Recommended us great places to eat etc. Lots of nice touches. Fridge was so quiet, and very handy. We were in room 5 which is compact, but then we weren't in it long, so who cares? En suite very pretty. Red squirrels are cute too, saw them often our of our bedroom window. We would stay there again. Perhaps the flat roofs could have been swept and the garden a bit nicer, but again we weren't in there long.

Nice pool/garden area. Around the island we came across several cheaper hotels of a similar quality and standard, but obviously haven't yet got wise to advertising through websites such as bookings.com! If we returned to the IoW we may choose a slightly better location nearer the sea and away from a main crossroad.

We had a wonderful stay at Oaklands House, the room was impeccably clean with fresh linen midweek and towels changed frequently. There was always plenty of tea & coffee available in the room with a daily supply of biscuits. Jan could not have been more helpful and responded quickly to any enquiries we had. We saw red squirrels every day from our bedroom. The airconditioning was an added bonus which we found useful on occasions. The ensuite was immaculate, modern and very clean with a good supply of towels and toiletries. The breakfasts were excellent with a good selection of items to choose from and all very fresh. Jan kept the supplies topped up throughout the breakfast time and we were able to sample a selection of different foods throughout our week.
