A lovely old building , but decor etc of hotel had "passed its sell by date", furniture was arather tired lokking and dirty gave the impression of being run on a shoestring................bar service slow............"could we pay exact cash as barmaind had just cashed up "!!!! No hot water in morning. Shower head useless a mere trickle.Breakfast service dreadful extremely slow, no butter brought with toast, long wait for cooked food to be brought although hotel was not exceptionally busy. Sinage direction to hotel once you have left main road is not sign posted and you finish up in a garden centre, several other guests i spoke to had the same experience.Manager fairly abbrasive when i reported above faults to him, his initial response to my faults was "that i must accept that things go wrong in hotels"!!!!.........I agreed , but informed him that he had a duty to keep maintenance to a satisfactory working level when he had paying guests at the establishment. it was akin to taking money under false pretenses |

Lovely house, set in gorgeous countryside - very beautiful. It made you feel very relaxed. The hotel was very hot which made it uncomfortable and difficult to sleep. |

The breakfasts were enjoyable and plentiful. The en suite bathroom was very good and the shower worked better than other places I've stayed in. The double bed in room 49 was way past its life-span. The mattress was like an orchestra tuning up every time you moved: the springs were twanging, grinding and generally very noisy. Not at all comfortable. The next question is a "yes", but subject to the mattress/bed situation being fixed. |

Excellent location for visiting cities and places around, okay room with nice bathroom and great breakfast. Pleasant staff. Misleading photos - as the late 19th century house got ugly modern extensions, horrible carpark and boosted parkland not more than a large garden. |

`We enjoyed the attention given to us by the staff and the snack lunch at the bar. We felt the approach to the hotel was scruffy and did not impress or do justice to the main building. We found the room could have been cleaner and it would have been nice to have a bath and hand towel each instead of having to share! |

Location, Quiet The Beds in room of poor quality. Had another reservation for 2 days which I cancelled because of it. Tv in common area broken, would have been nice to watch British Open on a decent screen. |

The room was very nice, the bathroom was much bigger & nicer than expected. It was also nice to wander around the grounds after breakfast just a small thing. The heated towel rail & mirror, made the bathroom a bit too hot(but we were there during a mini heatwave). |

Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly & helpful. The bedroom had a tired feel about it. Furniture was old and not very comfortable. Only the bathroom, which I think had recently been re-done, was OK. |

The meal I had was good if a little overpriced, however the menu selection was very limited The receptionist who checked me in did not have a very welcoming personality, the receptionist is the face of your hotel and first impressions are important, got a bad first impression !! |
