Located in a building with over 300 years of history, The Old Manor House at North Somercotes is centrally located, yet in a peaceful location.
Score from 111 reviews Exceptional
Good location, impressive building standing in lovely surroundings. Excelent food, pleasant staff.
Some of the wedding guests decided to have a party of there own with loud music right opposite our room. They were shouting and arguing almost turning into a fight at one stage, this went on to well past 3.00am in the morning. We complained in the morning but we're told that's what happens when you mix drink and relatives together, not happy especially when we had 300mls to drive back home with very little sleep!.
Just one night stay at the Oaklands, everything just right good food, staff excellent, super room.
Staff Wine Food Comfy bed
Bit too busy too many 'functions' in public areas. Over stretched staff. The pillows were really hard ! Like blue circle cement bags!
The location. Wedding attendance so everything you could need.
Price difference I had similar room to others but paid £4 more. Getting a cup of tea at breakfast was terrible and tea was worse.
Comfortable Rooms Clean good parking
Restaurant far to pretentious and expensive for a 3 star hotel catering to mainly commercial business.
Breakfast - runs very smoothly. Good service and quality, tasty produce. Good WiFi coverage. Nice setting and high standard of cleanliness.
My particular room (room 9) didn't have great sound insulation. There was noise as people passed in the corridor, noise from the bins by the window and sound transmission from adjacent rooms. Dinner is more geared up for fine dining (nice menu, tasty food but roughly 1.5 hour turnaround time), would be great if there was a separate area for a simple & speedy menu targetted towards weary business travellers.
Food was over priced and too little of a portion and the beds were very uncomfortable
Loved your hotel, first impressions on driving into the property was wow. It was a special place to stay.
We were aware that functions are held regularly, particularly on weekends, a little noisy but not too bad, I did actually expect that the room would have been in period style, as with the rest of the hotel, but our room was in the newer part, did have have the same ambience, but overall a lovely property.
Good restaurant Comfortable room
Noisy at night and in the morning as guests come and go
Waiters could check re update of coffee at breakfast and keep the breakfast buffet updated.
Nice fluffy towels. Nice grounds.
Being put in a disabled bedroom without being given the option. Lights a bit dim for reading.
Location - quiet. Room also quiet... I was able to do some work there.
In my opinion this was quite an expensive hotel in comparison to others I have used.
This is the second time we have stayed here. We have stayed in the annex and main hotel. The rooms are spotless ,warm and comfortable. The staff are always helpful and polite . Nothing is too much trouble. It was also one of the best meals we have had in a long time.
Staff that couldn't do enough to help, fantastic rooms, very comfortable beds, superb breakfast
Having to leave
We had a wonderful meal and the service was excellent. We just couldn't find fault at all. A perfect weekend. Thank you
We attended a wedding reception at your hotel, the staff were very attentive, the food was very good. The hotel and room were extremely comfortable and we spoke whilst there to a couple who return to you regularly for meals.
I'm afraid the breakfast let you down, it wasn't very hot, it was help yourself from dishes kept warm in hot water, the bacon was not cooked very well, the eggs where hard and the sausages were pale and uninteresting. Just for that extra effort you could have got a 10 out of 10
On the first night I could not sleep because of unacceptable noise . This went on till after 3am !
Lack of hair dryer.
We visited with the Marshall wedding party on 23rd And 24th august. Staff lovely and rooms nice thank you
That breakfast wasn't included we didn't get told this at booking. But when we checked in we were told it was and when we checked out we were told it wasn't
Breakfast was good and the beds were very comfortable. Carpet was very good quality, room nice and spacious. Good wifi and good tv.
Could do with updating, room could have done with some maintainance. The bath panel was falling off, and the decor and furniture was old and dated. Would have liked the room to be brighter.
We have stayed there several times even before it was "Best Western" Great Place.
Lack of lift for my wife who has difficulty climbing stairs so hope there is a downstairs room next time.
Iron and ironing board in the room.
Super slow Wifi. Bar was shut when arrived back at the hotel at midnight.
It was quiet.
Wi Fi not the best
Room very clean and comfortable.
Breakfast could have been a little more organised. Very slow serving it and kept running out of plates.
