Best Western Oaklands Hall Hotel  

I have given services and facilities only a 'good' on this occasion because the hotel is undergoing a large and very tasteful refurbishment programme, retaining and enhancing many features of the Victorian original and access to rooms is rather circuitous at this time. However, very attentive staff are always on hand. The setting is lovely, being in wooded grounds and it's very peaceful, but well placed for Grimsby and motorways n/s and e/W. Though the dining room is unfinished at the moment, a new dinner menu is in place and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food.

Room rather small (but with a nice outlook)

Peaceful location with good roads to Lincoln, Grimsby, Cleethorpes and surrounding area. Tip to fellow travellers coming from the north; if you are deciding between the Humber Bridge or M62/M18/M180, choose the second option! Traffic can be really slow around the York ring road which is a shame because the Humber Bridge route is beautiful. Excellent breakfasts and bar meals. The hotel was being refurbished but the staff were friendly, very professional and coped well. Lovely garden centre in the grounds.

Although it was being renovated it still was a pleasnat stay...and I would love to stay when all renovations are complete

friendly polite staff, first class food & eaving meals well priced don't know about diningroom breakfast had to leave early am, hotel back off the main road in it's own grounds.

thats easy the night porter early morning breakfast delivered to your door far to expensive so much so we had to leave early so went without breakfast or maybe that's just me thats to tight!!

We stayed because we held our wedding rection there 45 years ago and wanted to reminiss.

What you hadn't told us when we booked is that it is currently being refurbshed and many of the rooms we wanted to photograph were either not accessible or covered in protective sheets. Had you beeng offering the usual discount in such circumstances, then we would have known and could have arranged our visit at a later (or earler) date. Dod you know that even with an "Executive Room" you charge extra for a newspaper? In all my business travelling years, I have never known this.

We thought the staff & food where excellent at the hotel, the only small fault we found was that the room got a tad cold at night and the quilt only just reached over the bed, Aprt from that all very good as its our 2nd visit there. Thanks to all the staff.

As stated, bigger quilt on the bed would hav been betteras it only just reached the sides when we were in it....

Location, value for money, friendly helpful staff. Food was tasty, well presented and hot. There was plenty of hot water and complimentary toiletries were provided The room was clean and comfortable

Beautiful surroundings well kept gardens and outside seating areas.

All staff were very young and seemed to be having private jokes at all times. They seemed nervous serving food and drink and made quite a few spills and mistakes. Felt that somebody a little older needed to be watching over them and keeping a higher standard of service. Also when I booked my stay over the internet I didn't get the option of saying I was staying with the wedding party so paid a little more than family and friends staying over.
