Hotel itself is great.
Reception Staff on Check in difficult to say the least, I made a business booking, through booking.com, for a field engineer who had travelled a considerable distance to get to the hotel. On arrival, after 7pm, he was told he could not check in until Company Payment Card details were supplied, despitr them having being provided on the booking form. The receptionist who dealt with it was very rude, and had a bad attitude.
Comfortable bed and complimentary shoe polish
As the title suggests this hotel would make a great murder mystery - if the mystery was why I didn't murder my other half due to the dreary surroundings! I still can't get over why there was a 1930s hairdryer in a drawer with a brass plaque highlighting that the drawer of death contained a hairdryer - next to said antique object!
Friendly Good leaisure facilities
A little tired and I'm need of attention in parts. Bed had a few lumpy bits, but I've been to,d they are upgrading them
Lovely room really comfy bed had great nights sleep
Good Location,very quiet,facilities,bar
Full English breakfast, best one in years.
Distance to some of the rooms could be a problem if you have dificulty walking or with steps. If you see this as a problem ask for a room more suitable closer to the reception.
Friendly staff and good location.
Great lesuire facilities with helpful staff.
Personally, I found thhe bed a bit too soft and the room was very warm!
Twin instead of double. Changed room and lock didn't work. Spare room not ready, moved into another room about 2230.
We use The Oaks on a regular basis when visiting family nearby, always a pleasant stay and excellent value for money. Friendly, helpful staff, nice atmosphere in bar and restaurant. Use of pool and leisure facilities. Very comfortable room. Highly recommended. Also very impressed with prompt contact after we left personal property in the room after our departure.
Nothing - all good
Staff were friendly and room spacious and comfortable
Needed a map to find the room. Mobile reception very hit and miss in the garden wing.
Stairs to room
The room and its facilities were spotlessly clean. The room and en suite were both spacious and well fitted out The bed was very comfortable Staff were very friendly and polite
the long walk on corridors and up and down stairs required to reach my room
The room had dirty underwear left in it, not baby friendly as lots of stairs
very tired and in need of a refresh, expensive for what it was and gym dance classes were very noisy of you got the wrong room
we could hear the music from the function room which went on quite late
Friendly staff, hotel clean and warm Lovely breakfast. Hotel facilities excellent.
The bits that I indicated..
The bits I indicated
Staff were very friendly. Leisure center was great, within the price.
The breakfast. Could of done with labels on the hot trays instead of everyone opening them. Also tin tomatoes instead of fresh would nice.
Main meal was good and served till reasonably late into the evening. (21:00 last orders) The staff originally offered the meal in the bar as that is where we had approached, but since we were wanting a main meal we decided against stooping over a low table. The staff were happy to support the quiet dining area despite dealing with two private functions.
It was a little disappointing we were not able to select from the dessert menu due to kitchen closing. The waiting staff were a little slow to approach the table after the main meal was finished. They could have ask if we were considering the dessert menu and advise that the staff would need orders by a particular time rather than advise us when it was too late.
The staff are all brilliant and really looked after us.
Too many stairs to get to bedroom, hard with two young children. Accommodation would benefit from a refurb.
Food was lovely, especially in the restaurant. The receptionists were wonderful and Louise went above and beyond to help us out. First when we got lost on the way there and then finding us directions to places we wanted to visit. Best Western, your staff at this hotel are a credit to you.
IT FELT COSY
MY TELEVISION WAS NOT WORKING, THE RADIATOR AND COLD TAP ON THE BATH WERE TURNED OFF SO TIGHT I UNABLE TO USE EITHER. THE RESTAURANT SERVICE WAS SLOW, THE FOOD OK.
Restaurant and food were excellent
Rooms and beds were poor with thin old mattresses on the beds
