“Fantastic stay. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Lovely little extras like pillow mist when we returned at night. Nice and quiet spot and fabulous breakfast. We will hopefully be back!”

We ordered breakfast for 7am on room service - at 7.20am we got a call to say they don't start till 8am yet the card we filled out said 7am - it was daughters wedding day and we needed an early start due to 11am wedding, it was very dissapointing. In my room, 165, there was a rotting apple under the bunk beds and in my daughters room, 164, there was a dirty plaster under the dressing table! I found everywhaere to be quite grubby looking and would not stay here again and most certainly would not recommend it to anyone!!

The main entrance is very awe inspiring and the staircase and stained glass window on the staircase was beautiful a relic from a bygone era to be admired - very nostalgic. The decor looks a little tired but the hallways to the bedrooms were nicely decorated. We stayed 2 nights in room 162 the room was very pleasant with ample room to relax. The staff were all very young and didn't seem competent. We found the long walk up and down all the staircases to get to our room was arduous - particularly with suitacases to carry.... the mattress in our room (162) had bed springs sticking out of it and offered no support we rolled into the middle - not 4* standard. we didn't think the breakfast was of a 4* standard and the evening meals menu was varied but when it arrived it was disappointing and again wasn't up to 4* standard - it was cold and the duck was over cooked and rubbery. The bar wasn't adequately stocked and the barmaid had to disappear to the other bar to get our drinks making us wait for ages. Both bars should always be adequately stocked particularly as there were several wedding parties over the weekend, we were all waiting to be served for far too long. Wedding guests staying overnight had access to the self serve breakfast in the main room - we were lead to a table in an adjacent room... we had to wait in a long queue with the guests - but when we complained the waitress brought a cooked breakfast on a plate to our table eventually. It would be prudent to give private guests their own bain marie with cooked breakfast items to choose from.

A beautiful stately manor refurbished as a grand hotel. Added-on extensions to building required a mountain hike and a serpa from reception to our room...many stairs and twists and turns. Took us 2 days to remember how to find our room! LOL!

The swimming pool was lovely first thing in the morning courteous staff and a nice clean facility,Breakfast was also very good. Having checked in given room No 166,the farthest room from reception you had to negotiate up and down numerous staircases which although not a problem with my wife and I would be for aged or people with diabilities. When we arrived at the room found the electronic key wouldnt work so traipsed all the way to reception to be told that it should work ,went back still didnt work!!!! Not wanting to travel all the back to reception phoned them and asked for someone to let us into our room. A member of staff came and informed us that we were in 165 and the receptionist had put the wrong room No on the key docket!!!Not a good start. When booking asked for a nice view after reading previous reviews, but our nice view was a breeze Block w\all 2 feet from the window with aircon unit drooning continually. But having said all this nice room ,nice swimming pool and the receptionist apologised to a grumpy guest.

disorganised around breakfast - most guests having to ask for various items, including to replenish the sausages, bacon & eggs - surely very basic. The staff didnt seem very motivated or led. Reception team were very efficient and helpful.

Comfortable and al but one of the staff was first class.helped with our bags to the room and everyone was trying hard to make our stay pleasurable. The staircase and window that greets you as you enter the hotel was worth the trip on its own. the weekend breakfast was hot but a bit too much on the ''fried' side for us.the Monday morning individually cooked stuff was spot on. see above re breakfast.Nothing else apart from a rather long walk to our room!!god exercise though !!!!

It was convenient for staying friends and the bar was pleasant. The shower had heavy water pressure and was lovely to shower under. On checking in at 9pm the window in our room was open despite it being 0c (as per car thermometer). Therefore the room was exceptionally cold and was still cold when went to bed at 11.45. In the morning there was only 2 fruit tea bags one white tea and pomegranate and one with ginger and lemon. There were no everyday tea bags or earl grey. When informing the receptionist of these matters as well as the good shower she just looked at me, did not apologise or offer any solution! I consider this unacceptable in staff. If she was unable to deal with this matter she should have called for someone who could

Lovely building, beautiful grounds. Good location for the reason for my visit. The receptionist that was on duty when we arrived was wonderful and the breakfast was lovely. It was fresh, hot and served in good time. The hotel is very big and it is not for the faint hearted, rooms seem a bit of a trek if you had a nightmare journey beforehand. I wouldn't recommend the twin rooms, I was dissapointed when I saw the accommodation. It was changed swiftly and I was a 'happy camper' by the time I left.

Pleasant surroundings, nice setting. Booked for dinner Saturday night, had to find member of staff for menus, they were going to serve us in the bar! Dining room very cold, had to ask for fire to be lit. Food very dry (all 3 dishes) presumably been in the microwave too long, had to remind staff to bring the vegetables, no cappuchino coffee (machine broken) had to ask staff for chocolates with coffee (as described on menu) Poor meal, seemingly nobody in charge of the dining room.

Staff very friendly and the facilities, unfortunately I had to time for the swimming pool or Spa Slight communication error with late check out request and no paper ordered for me. The shower didn't work but I have let the staff know. Beds slightly uncomfortable because of the fact it was two singles put together and in the middle it was really hard.

The fact that access to the pool and leisure facilities are included in the price. Rooms need to be a lot cleaner. Updating is needed. Breakfast arrangements timings wise needs to be addressed - took a long time for people to be served on the Sunday.

Breakfast was good on a week day but rather busy and slow at the weekend.... Very nice staff too..... Looking old now and the rooms really need a facelift our room was an old smoking room and the durtains and walls had nicotine stains on them.... The bed wasn't the best either...... Bathroom was clean but very dated and the grout needs a good clean and ( £80. Per night I would expect a little better for my money

The initial view of the hotel is pleasing to the eye as is the reception with the marvelous stained glass window and staircase. The rooms were basic but adequate. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quality service with a tight budget!

I have stayed several times and have always found it a relaxing environment. On this occasion the duty manager, Dan, stood out as extremely helpful when I had issues with the room television. All the staff I came into contact with were friendly and professional.
