The location and the fresh bedroom. A good breakfast helped setup the new day.
Everything!! It was a pleasure to eat here, the chefs clearly love the produce available in the north west, I will return again, the staff were lovely and helpful and this is a brilliant base to travel the lakes from
I booked superior rooms for us and they were very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Hotel is in an excellent position for touring the lakes, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants near by.
This is an excellent hotel. Breakfast is superb. Staff lovely
The food was superb and the staff very friendly. The location is excellent and really nice place.
The shower it was not easy to use and quite small.
Comfortable accomadation ,clean and tidy!
Breakfast could have been a bit later ! Till 10.00am , front rooms overlooking the road and pub perhaps needed some net curtains or something similar as had to keep closing blind when getting changed !
The room was spacious and clean the staff were friendly and informative the food in the restaurant is incredible
Breakfast was excellent. Warm and friendly hosts
the staff were excellent and the food served first class
the decor overall and the toilets in public areas could do with updating for us the bed in the room was to soft.
Greeted with a warm friendly welcome , staff extremely helpful . Room was immaculate and full of character , the food well... EXCEPTIONAL !!!!! :-)
The staff, the room cleanliness, the breakfast, the location.
The shower was small and the pressure was weak
Location was great - a few minutes walk to the station. The refitted bathrooms are excellent, bright and clean. The breakfast was much better than in some places we've stayed but they need to learn how to poach an egg!
I honestly don't know where the glowing reviews are coming from. This hotel needs a facelift. The whole place has a dated and worn feel. Room furniture is tired and well worn, there is no discernible reception area and the dining room was gloomy. The main problem comes in two forms - inadequate lighting and poor color choice. Gray/green is not a welcoming color scheme. In essence, this is a restaurant that happens to have some rooms. Our overall impression was that this is a place where the owners are 'tired' and it is reflected in how the place is maintained. We didn't try the restaurant and the person who met us at reception didn't invite us to try the bar or offer the menu as an enticement. Price wise there is no way the room we got justifies the price charged but then this is the middle of the holiday season and you can't blame the owners for trying to make money while demand is there. One thing they really must solve - the smell coming from the kitchen into the public areas is almost overpowering at meal times. Great if you're in a cafe, not in a hotel/guest house. Sadly, there is nothing about Lamplighter that says 'stay here' and that's a shame given its excellent location. Altogether it was very disappointing.
No soundproofing in room and traffic sound too loud.
The evening meal was 1st rate
Tired feel to hotel decor Young lady waiting at table uninterested noisy clearing up detracting from superb meal Breakfast - same girl .......
Really nice place.staff very good . bedrooms nice size.beds really comfortable. Enjoyed our stay,.
Pub astomphere Clean Room Powerful shower Tasty breakfast and evening meal
Noise from Pub if you wanted to sleep before closing
the hotel is 5 minutes walk from windermere railway station. the staff are responsible and gentlemen. hotel's food is exquisite. this place gives us a little comfort in three raining heavily days.
check in time is a little rigid. We are all wet when we come back the hotel hope we could check in two hours earlier than 2 pm. But the rooms were not totally ready after 2 pm. This makes us a bit disappoint.
Very warm welcome on arrival and excellent customer service from all staff throughout. Good location very close to station and we had arrived by train.
We had a room over the front door - the last room available when we booked - and although it was very comfortable there was quite a lot of road noise last thing at night and early in the morning.
Very good room Excellent breakfast and dinner
Location and ability to park
Dusty bedroom, carpet needed cleaning not good since it was classed as a deluxe room
Really enjoyed our stay at the Lamplighter. The staff here are helpful and welcoming. The hotel is very dog friendly and they allowed us to sit in the front room with our dog for dinner and breakfast which was something we were looking for when choosing a hotel so much appreciated. The food quality served in the restaurant is superb and portions very generous. Highly recommend the fish & chips!! We will be back September!
Bedroom/bed extremely comfortable; plenty of chairs. Very good shower in bath. Very large room with walk-in wardrobe. 4* hotel couldn't have been better.
Tiny soaps and very little shampoo. Had to keep blinds down to prevent people from street seeing into room. None of this would prevent us from recommending or re-visiting.
A minor point, the hotel was very warm
