Overall and enjoyable stay, the food was recommended by our host and we have to say it didn't disappoint! My husband stated he had the best steak he had ever tasted and that the sticky toffee pudding was amazing. The room was very comfortable and more than sufficient for our needs.
Minor detail, the stairs/hall leading to our room were looking a bit worn, however, given the age and style of building there is a limited amount of things that can be done. Regardless, we would definitely come back and recommend it to others.
The friendliness of the staff, it was very clean and close to all everything you would need.
Service, food, friendly.
Very helpful and friendly
Loved the food! Steak was superb, beef suet pudding was excellent. Staff made us feel really welcome.
Comfort of room and breakfast.
Excellent dinner menu cooked to perfection
The staff were very nice and always willing to help. The room was pretty big. The included breakfast was very satisfying and delicious. The whole place had a homely feel to it.
Very limited car parking space. The mattress was a little too hard for my preference and the wooden bed tended to creak with any slight movement.
Everthing about the lamplighter was absolutely fab,the young man behind the bar was very friendly and helpful and the gentleman taking our evening meal most imformative about the menu could not fault anything
Wasn't reslly a dislike but cud have done with more lighting over mirror & desk buy that might just be me
Big room and bed. Great location
Very cold room and dining room
Bed very comfortable Staff attitude Cleanliness
Beds with no headboard Soulless rooms (no pictures) Plumbing Poor state of communal areas & stairways
The room was really large and comfortable. The bed was enormous! (2 small doubles zipped together- 1 mattress strangely firmer than the other). We didn't eat there in the evening, but it smelt delicious and will give the restaurant a go next time we are in Windermere
The reception area was deserted. We arrived early and thought we'd better let them know that we were leaving the car in the car park. There is a bell to ring, but nobody answered. We kept calling back in as we passed but it wasn't until our 4th visit that we found a member of staff! The breakfast was average (lovely bacon, but only 1 rasher). I found the décor very dark and masculine. Toiletries a bit sparse- a small shampoo and shower gel - no soap or shower cap.
Hall need decorating
Sunday lunch_best roast dinner I have ever had
The food was excellent, the staff were were attentive, helpful and courteous. The hotel was spotlessly clean, a nice sized bedroom with a very big comfortable bed.
Lovely old pub in a great location.
Could do with comfier seating n the bar area, or an area were guests can relax .
My friend & I were delighted to find the Lamplighter was such an easy distance from the station (especially as it was raining). They kindly stowed our bags before & after check out so we could enjoy exploring Windermere hassle free. I also found the venue very friendly to my dog, which is always a plus when travelling. Highly recommended!
Lovely hotel staff very welcoming, the food was to die for would stay again .
Restaurant food Friendly Staff
Friendly, helpful staff, good english breakfast. Central location. Nice clean bathroom. Carparking available which is useful as Windermere gets very busy at times. Had an evening meal which was excellent the battered fish was huge!
Asked for a double bed but got two singles pushed together (even though they were big singles). Old furnishings in main bedroom and carpets in hallways could do with updating although paintwok had been done recently.
Warm welcome. .clean comfy room.. breakfast was top marks fresh...lovely stay...
Very clean. And friendly staff. Would definitely stay again. Xx
Really nice staff. Lovely clean room. Yummy food and drinks.
Shower was not very powerful
Food better than adequate bit limited in choice though. Fish and chips good the fish in particular was fresh and well cooked. Breakfast was hearty very nice bacon and sausage but no fish available. Room was large and comfortable. A bit more shelving would have been handy in the bathroom.
Breakfast not before 8.30 is no good for making early start either to travel on or make early start walking etc. We had to leave with no breakfast on day of departure and no packed sandwiches or continental was offered in place. On first night my pint of Cumberland was off. When I mentioned this I was told that it required some stale beer was in the pipe and needed to be pulled. The next pint was still off. I ordered another pint of Youngs which was fine and was later told that the Cumberland barrel had been changed as it was the bottom of the barrel as I had suggested at the start. An experience bar man would have known the beer was off just by the smell.
