On the east shore of Loch Lomond, this charming family-run country inn is constructed from locally quarried slate and offers a perfect tranquil location for a romantic or relaxing break. Standing in the shade of a magnificent 500-year-old oak tree, this traditional bar/restaurant is ideal for those wishing to escape from the rush of modern day life. The non-smoking inn is adjacent to the West Highland Way and is ideal for walkers. After a long day spent exploring the region’s magnificent scenery and breathing in the invigorating fresh air, you can satisfy your hard-earned hunger with a delicious meal. Food is served all day and the bar has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and a real log fire. The charming, homey accommodations are warm, welcoming and comfortable.
Relax and enjoy the natural tranquility and stunning scenery of one of the most beautiful and romantic places in Scotland. Hotel Rooms: 8

Food was good and we enjoyed breakfast. Evening meal was very good with plenty of variety but we thought it was a tad on the expensive side especially as there is nowhere else to eat in the village. It was a little more out of the way than we anticipated. We went up to tour around in the car and found ourselves quite some distance away from the main roads. This was made worse when the main road down to Ballach was closed and we had to take a diversion which took us almost back into Glasgow to get to the other side of Loch Lomond. If you want an away from it all place in very pleasant surroundings this could be the place.

The hotel was value for money and the room looked newly decorated. The room was too hot and when we asked for a fan we were spoken to like we were stupid. Noone greets you to check in and the first staff member was quite rude and dismissive. The cottage rooms are approximately 200 yards away from hotel. There was nowhere to sit in the room apart from the bed. Also the hotel does not overlook the loch.

We stayed in the attached cottage. The bed was comfortable. The food in the restaurant was quite nice and the bar's ambience was inviting. The view was pretty. The decor. The coldness of the room. The noise. WiFi did not work in the cottage or the restaurant. The service was disappointing and it was noisy. Water pressure in shower was poor and the bathroom was freezing.

I am a keen photographer who wanted to travel up to Loch Lomond for its beauty. I booked the Inn before reading about it in a photography magazine. The staff were very friendly and the food was just out of this world. I really do love my burgers but the burger they offer here has to be by far the nicest meat known to man. You know it has not been injected or mixed with any sort of rubbish just the taste of it.Location is good and there is a boat twice a day to Luss where you can then get a buss to Tarbet (which I did). Would go back for sure. This time with someone who has a car. The internet that is advertised only works if you are sat in the bar. Signal in the area is rubbish but to be honest in the beautiful area that is Loch Lomond, internet should be the last thing you want to think about. Getting about is very hard unles you drive.

Location was good, although we had lots of rain and could not enjoy the surroundings.. Arrived early at 1.00 but could not get into the room until 3.00pm, and after a 7 hr drive just wanted to relax, the restaurant was very busy so could not get food there. Came back at 3.00 nice room in the inn - Room No 4 - We were offered accommodation either in the Inn or at some adjoining cottages along the road, due to weather conditions we opted for staying put. Big mistake, rooms were compact but very clean, perfect.. But alas we had very little sleep, outside the room is an air conditioning unit/or fridge - every 10-15 mins(all night long) was a terrible noise from the unit making it impossible to sleep (like an engine very loud) even with the earplugs in place (which the hotel provides) we could not sleep it was like chinese torture - added to which outside was a light on a building which just shone into the room even with the curtains closed. Alas we were unable to have breakfast next morning as we had an early start and breakfast was served from 08:00 onwards... Such a shame as it was a reallly nice place. We had a great meal in the Inn - would highly recommend the Oak Tree Inn, but would not recommend Room 4 or perhaps any other room on that side........ Stay in the cottages if offered....

I was attending a family wedding in the area and had initially booked a room with two twin beds to share with a family member. At the last moment, I contacted the Oak Tree Inn to ask if there was any possibility of changing that room to one for a couple as my partner was joining me! I was supremely grateful that they made that change without trouble and gave us a lovely room in one of their cottages - it was just what I had been hoping for... Thank-you for that!! :-) And having the entrance to the national park right across the road was brilliant for access to trails and area information! I was more than a little stunned when I asked one of the staff, very politely, if it was possible to bring some of the breakfast (included in the cost of the rooms) to my partner who was sleeping in after an exhausting travel day... The answer was "No." Short & sweet I guess??! The staff person did come forward with a little more information to support that abrupt answer, but it certainly got my back up. In all fairness, I was surprised several times by curtness or "shortness" in answers and welcome from staff in other venues and locations - perhaps this is simply part of the Scottish character?.... Anyway, aside from that, the Inn and the location were wonderful.

I thought the staff and location was fantastic. The main bar with the real wood fire was truly amazing. Me and my wife spent two nights here and we loved every minute of it. I would strongly recommend the arctic charr and the overall food was second to none. Anyone who has been here and complains needs to seriously reavuate their lives. This was a truly fantastic hotel and we will definitely be going back.

Relaxed, warm and cozy. Nice guy checked us in, the rooms were lovely and very clean. Dinner good if a bit overpriced for the scallops which were nothing special. Breakfast was good but they got the tea/coffee order mixed up and the waitress serving breakfast was very surly......
