Breakfast was easily one of the best we have had in a Hotel
For a 'Quality Room' ours was poor. Very small. Cupboards had part of edging peeling off, Electrics were run from an extension lead. Shower control knob was on floor of the shower. Not very clean, could do with hoovering - grubby and dark
Reasonable accomodation for a mid size generic hotel. Breakfast was acceptable.
WiFi did not work in the room. Had to lug our cases through the bar, dining area and up stairs to get to the accomodation. Bar/Restaurant menu very basic. NO HOT WATER in the evening. Location mean you have to drive past school grounds, lots of building sites, before you get to the hotel. The pictures are NOT a fair representation.
Smart clean and stylish. Shower was excellent and bed was very comfortable Staff were friendly. Good value room.
Fire alarm went off causing an evacuation at 11pm. The bar was expensive for food and drink. Evening meal was tiny.
The Breakfast was excellent and the hotel was clean.
Oakwood House was built around 1869 where the reception area is.The acomodations are in a different modern office building.(poor)
The bar food was quite nice. The WiFi was good too. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming.
The beds were so uncomfy. My room was too hot, so I had to keep the windows open and hear the fan outside all night. The bar staff were a bit pushy when I was deciding what to eat. Also, there was a Christmas tree up - it is October. I thought that was a bit too early.
Food is improving again after quality dipped.
Some concern over security.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the old part of the hotel was very nice.
This hotel caters for the business, conference and function sector, however it's advertisement is designed to appeal to the leisure traveller. This is misleading and should be changed. Also, judicious use of exit mould in the corners of the shower would be nice. The rooms are very small for the price in a regional centre.
So so pleased I chose this hotel for my brothers wedding present he and his new wife had a fantastic experiance! Would highly recommend
Staff very helpful and cheerful. Quality of food and service provided for the Queens Own Buffs Lunch on 21st September 2014. Good quality bed linen.
Shower in room 13: Dangerously slippery shower tray particularly when using the shower gel provided. Dirty and unhygienic sealant around shower tray. Top of shower control plunger broken.
Staff were very good and helpful, room extremely clean
My room had an adjoining door and unfortunately the next door room was also occupied and they were not very courteous noise wise.
room generally clean bed very comfortable
to tired to notice but on getting up on checkout morning wife noticed rings made by coffee cups several as we did not have any it could only be the previous guests meaning we had slept in an unchanged bed
Rooms were okay, bit small, bathroom nice
Basically hotel in middle of educational establishments to one side and park to other. Wedding on which we were not aware of and so noisy and bar taken over by wedding guests.
En-suite excellent, spotlessly clean throughout. Dinner and breakfasts excellent. Beautifully presented and cooked and excellent value. Lovely bar. Friendly staff.
Approach is a bit off-putting at the moment as building work is being done, but this does not disturb the hotel.
staff at reception was friendly, parking close by
room was small, and very dusty, shower/tap hard to turn off and on,dining facilities too casual, table cloth was dirty and did not feel comfortable in there, took long before staff was available .No laundry bag and no table for suitcase, nothing to put your toilet bag on and poor faciliets to make tea and coffee, very disaspointing for the money
Cold full english breakfast
easy to check in
Only late breakfasts are available which was pretty poor.
Room warm and comfortable, but rather small. Staff helpful and friendly. Evening meal good.
Breakfast tea made with hot water from a flask. Big wedding parties both nights.
The character of the property
Was a little out of the way to walk to amenities.
Clean, airy rooms with a good shower. Breakfast more than adequate.
Odd layout of hotel mixed with council offices.
Brilliant day food excellant people polite helpful venue lovely breakfast a deffo would mot hesitate to stay again definatley recomendl
Nice clean room, reasonably priced food and a quiet night until the school children woke us up in the morning. the hotel appears to be on a school or college complex.badly sited for its purpose.staff polite however.
Hard to find location. An old house with various extensions , numerous doors to negotiate. Lack of staff. Reception manned by one .Phone unanswered as unable to cope when there is more than one person waiting to be served.Receptions acts as room service.Hotel needs to employ more staff as it SHOWS.
Staff very accommodating and friendly Very comfortable bed
Hard to find in the dark
The look of the outside of the hotel is impressive but unfortunately, once inside, is quite dissapointing. Very standard with a 'conference centre' feel and probably an old office converted to hotel....very bland.... The reception staff were helpful but we didn't have any contact with others so can't really comment. The room was very small but ok, bed fine and bathroom clean and adequate but it did all feel fairly cramped. There was a heavy corridor door outside our room and we were woken up several times during the night every time it was opened and left to slam shut so we weren't very pleased about that.... Breakfast buffet was plentyful but the cooked breakfast was badly cooked and dissapointing. A warning that the buffet shuts at 10.00 prompt !! Check out is early at 11.00. Would say that the hotel is ok for no more than one night but fair value for money.
Small room, very noisy corridor doors and poor breakfast.
Large comfortable room and quiet location Beautiful grounds for a stroll Freshly cooked breakfast, with alternatives available and suggested by helpful waitress
Wifi and building
Small room. No proper access to ground floor rooms. Had to walk through ongoing wedding reception to get to room.
