Lovely choice at breakfast. Ample parking for car. For such a large hotel overall décor very good, often with larger establishments décor can be a let down.
Could have improved signage on hotel approach or did we miss it in the dark? Carpet in room heavily stained, as was bed cover.
The actual colleagues where good but had to mark them down due to the poor management!
My rooms radiator would not turn off so on the first 2 nights it was stifling, the telly would not change channels, when I put my suitcases on top of wardrobe noticed dust fly up and when I took them down again they were covered in fluff and dust which meant I was!!! I had a lot of unpacked luggage in my room and was asked if I wanted to move rooms on the late evening of day 2 but who on earth wants to move rooms late in an evening and spend 1 hour doing so? A new remote was just put on the floor outside the door and guess what that did not work neither so I actually had 1 radio channel on throughout my 3 night stay, so could not chill out and watch telly, could not sleep that well as stifling hot and had to have both windows open all day! I even turned radiator off and still boiling! I complains a little as normally you do get at least 1 to 2 nights refunded due to these aspects, I was told the female manager is not in today and not back in till the evening when I would be leaving on the morning so I had no one to talk to! Did not get any phone call still waiting and I would like a refund now for my full 3 night stop due to the poor customer service that the management team have contributed with!!!! A very unhappy customer! DB.
Very clean hotel, staff were excellent, food was lovely, shower was really powerful and clean, room was a good size.
The pillows were too big and fluffy.....not comfortable at all
Price Breakfast was good Quiet rooms
Small rooms Very hot, had windows open every night of my 5 night stay which is saying something for January!
The room was Value for money, nice friendly staff, very good breakfast
Not much choice on the menu for lunch time, only jackets or sandwiches the 1 thing I went for was sold out
we booked the presidential suite to add a bit of luxury to our night away and was really impressed with the room it was massive had a great 4 poster bed a nice sitting area to watch t v and the bathromm was great with a massive walk in shower and a nice bubble bath very impressed
the location was poor right in the middle of what seemed like a university campus when we did find the hotel the building was lovely but walking to our roon you have to walk past loads of offices with people working away it seemed like we had walked the wrong way very off putting
I loved staying at oak wood, good points was staff was amazing, reception staff went above and beyond for us, room was clean and tidy.
The long walk for a fag, didn't provide enough milk, sugar and coffee. Was split in duvet cover and few holes too. Safe wasn't working either, there was no instructions for the bath so it was a guessing game.. Breakfast staff was rude, 1st night we wasn't aware u get a full English, guy stood there watching us getting cereal and toast Waited 10/15 mins before coming over to us to ask if we wanted full English, 2nd morning was no better if not worse for brekfast, woman was very rude as was more interested in making fuss of a lady with a son that wasn't staying at the hotel. She shouted from other side of the room asking if we wanted cooked brekfast. The sofa in the bedroom was VERY comfy as we was staying for 2 nights it gave us both a very bad back ache.
just what we needed
friendly staff clean and beautiful building (entrance) good English breakfast
no sound proof rooms many doors to open and close with luggage until you reach your room
Very Clean, Best shower ever and breakfast was excellent The breakfast staff were very polite and attentive.
TV did not work (plus missing control) Had to make an external call to get reception. (internal phone in room does not divert to the one man on duty) Kettle in room showed signs of leaking so did not use.
Pleasant and convenient location, nice communal areas. Clean. Good choice at breakfast.
Room 16. Very poorly designed. Supposed to be Executive! Sockets in one corner, none by bed. Oppressive black furniture, completely unnecessary triple wardrobe taking up loads of space, small room. Bed ok, but hardly luxury. Lights by bed making buzzing noise. Breakfast eggs like bullets, had to ask for some freshly cooked ones
Beautiful location and surroundings
Rooms were too hot
Grand old building
Odd mix of Premier Inn style hotel with offices and business meeting rooms. It's like The Shining walking the corridors. The bar/restaurant is awful and completely soulless. The food is poor and expensive and the wine is ridiculously expensive (£26 for a bottle of Rioja).
outlook over woodland bathroom reception staff
felt more like an institution than an hotel had to go through offices to get to the "accomadation block"
Cleaning staff were very helpful. And reception, but otherwise no one know cares about you.
No one says hello to you. Seems conferences and other business overshadowed the whole place. Hence staff were too busy looking after meetings and events. Too conservative. No friendliness.
Kieron member of bar staff most helpful as he provided us with a fan at 11pm on the Friday night as heating still hot even though turned off!
Very small room with a 6ft bed! Stiffingly hot and heating hard to turn off, no safes and no safe at reception therefore had to carry all belongings, only a half size wardrobe therefore all bags around room, no coat hooks. Shared areas not cleaned after friday wedding and still unclean monday morning. It is nt a hotel at all but a full conference centre for local authority
Cooked breakfast is good.
Evening food OK.
It was clean
The Staff attitude
Close to Maidstone
Rooms were really small paid for executive room, nice deco but was expecting better, breakfast was of poor quality
the decor the people the food options
items stated in add not included rooms very small not in a great location as most shops and take away close very early parking area very dark at night damages in room before we got there ie the lamps and also one door on wardrobe to name two.
Everything, except trying to find the place, it seemed as though it was stuck behind a building site.
Not having any fried bread for breakfast. (But I can live with that).
Quiet at night. Helpful personnel.
We got married at Oakwood House and returned for one night getaway. Still beautiful building, fantastic room, a wonderful night's sleep, lovely to come back. Staff very friendly and professional. A treat, a real delight!
Heating was difficult to turn off overnight but a minor issue.
Breakfast was pretty good
Hugely overpriced and disappointing room, we paid £90 for a tiny room that was more like a university hall room or a dodgy conference centre. Shame as the exterior is very pretty but they seemed to have decorated it with no thought for comfort or style in the rooms. Not the place for a weekend break at all.
