Location, staff and service
I did not like or enjoy the very thin bed pillows and despite taking an extra pillow from the wardrobe I had to support further with a blanket. The creaking floorboards from upstairs bedroom is annoying
the friendliness of the staff and willingness to help
Pleasant friendly staff. Cleanliness excellent. Food has improved since last visit. Quiet location with excellent parking . Enjoyed the live entertainment very much. Sorry it was on only one night.
The mattress was like a trampoline, far too soft for comfort. Bar prices ?London prices.
The staff were friendly & helpful, Location & grounds were wonderful The hotel had kept all of the period charm, & the rooms were amazing. The food was was very nice(even though we was able to eat in the restaurant)
I emailed the hotel on Friday 13/02/15 to book a dinner reservation for the restaurant but i did not hear back & when i got to the hotel i asked them to book a table for me for 8pm which they did. When we returned to the room 7pm to get ready for dinner there was a letter under the door explaing to us that they were not able to book a table in the restaurant as it was fully booked. Not knowing the area or anywhere else to go out to we had to eat in the bar restaurant which had a limited menu, even though the food was nice we was disappointed not to eat in the restaurant as it was out first Valentines day as a couple and we wanted it to be special. It did not spoil our visit but it did take the edge of it.
The great customer service provided by friendly, helpful staff
bed was firm
£72 for the room was a good price
hotel is a little dated
Couldn't turn down radiator heat
The history of the building and the beautiful decor. spacious room and very comfortable. also enjoyed our full English breakfast!
Problem with shower - only cold water!!!. Did mention this when we checked out so next customer would not have same problem.
Setting on hotel nice Staff friendly & helpful
Wifi didn't work on first day, was subsequently fixed however
Beautiful location, large room with stunning views across open parkland on two sides. Lovely period building.
Booked a table in hotel's Broadwater restaurant for my partner's birthday. On arrival, we were told that there was a wedding on and the restaurant was not available. They could not explain why my dinner reservation was taken, and could only offer a limited menu at a table in the bar area. The hotel did find us a suitable restaurant a short drive away, but this was not part of our original plan had we been informed the hotel restaurant was not available I would have booked a different hotel. Our room was located above the wedding party and we were unable to sleep until after midnight due to the loud music. This is a large hotel and a more thought should have been given to room allocation so that non-wedding guests were located well away from the noise. The room lacked details that are often standard in similar hotels: No bath robes, slippers, minibar not stocked, only three very small pillows on the bed. I'm sure these would all have been provided if we'd asked, but only realised they were not on hand when needed use them and managed without.
Old world settings. Food good.
Air con gurgled all night even though switched off. I could not stand up straight in the shower, conduit across ceiling too low taking up head room. Thin walls, the man in the next room snored all night and kept me awake.
Was conveniently located near friends but would be too far from the city.
excellent hotel, very welcoming room ideal for elderly couple, 2nd floor but easy lift. Will be happy to return, Thank you to all the staff working through Christmas.
Ambience of hotel, lovely Christmas decorations, amenities in bedroom. Breakfast.
Room quite hot. Windows rattled"
The hotel building was lovely, our room was lovely
From the time we arrived at 2.30 on the Friday to the time we left 0900 on Saturday, there was only one CD playing Michael Buble Christmas songs. It was lovely at first, however by the time we finished breakfast and left we were fed up with it. The evening meal was not as good as we had hoped, it was presented very nicely, but we had obviously expected better. However, it was not bad.
Hotel is great, staff polite and helpful and didn't keep us waiting. Good wine cellar.
The awful piped 'Christmas' music. Anodyne, repetitive, and unjolly.
The ground are lovely as are the public rooms.
No hot plates for hot buffet breakfast and a nail sticking out of a chair ripped my trousers. An e mail to the hotel has brought no response. reception told me to e mail.
Very good restaurant, excellent food, bar and waiting staff.
My first disappointment was that both the bath and shower water was tepid, at best. I was later accused of smoking in the room (which I didn't) simply because they found cigarette ends in the room bin, which I'd put there after emptying that day's car detritus (as I usually do in all hotels). I was charged for cleaning despite my polite protest. I'll not be returning.
All the staff were friendly and courteous the room was very clean and comfortable, parking was excellent. Would recommend to anyone.
The only thing I really liked was the view, the driveway & the entrance hall
Booked a suite that looked great online. The suite was sparsely furnished and felt a little grim. Unhelpful people and tasteless coffee at £10. A complete rip-off. I travel a lot and will not go there again
The breakfast was very good.
The hotel is in serious need of revamping. The decor is very dated & very tired.
Proximity to unwell friends which made visiting easy
Breakfast - Lack of concern - had to call for glasses for juice and butter at buffet.
Free room upgrade, very nice, pleasant helpful receptionist .
Breakfast plates are to small.
Good size room
Room very cold on arrival and then became too warm - unable to fully regulate. Put on a large table for breakfast as nothing available.
Would like a six foot bed
