evening front desk person did not know what TV channels available
Furnishings ang general decor
expensive as breakfast was not included in the price
Good food Accomodation excellent Excellent parking
Our room was well appointed and very clean especially the bathroom. The meals we had were all excellent and served in a beautiful dining room. All staff were friendly and helpful.
The bar area was very roomy and felt rather cold. The prices of the drinks tended to be expensive.
Spacious reception,bar lovely grounds
overpowering deodorant smell in upstairs corridors buffet breakfast cold -common fault we find - only cooked fresh does the trick
Music in restaurant too intrusive
Architecture and grounds
Restaurant very expensive but food mediocre. Little ambience but nice view from window. Hotel is old fashioned and generally a bit faded. Decor dated.
Nice open location and good facilities nice terrace and excellent breakfast
We thought the dinners were a bit below the expected standard
Breakfast was very expensive
Set in beautiful grounds with nine hole golf course and putting greens included. Nice spacious reception area.
Was not aware of a lift upto the second floor so was an effort carrying the luggage up to our room
Decor and surroundings amazing
No swimmimg pool or lift espessialy being on the top floor
Friendly professional front desk Good size well appointed clean room and en suite with lovely view and quiet position as requested Good public rooms and grounds Must be a nightmare to upkeep but it is great that we are protecting the use and future of such historical buildings
The golf course was unplayable, not having been mown for weeks
The peaceful surroundings, lovely terraces to relax in the evenings and the bed was so comfortable. The male dining room staff were polite and SMILEY.
Apart from the male dining staff and one young lad behind the bar the rest of the staff didn't have a smile between them, they do their job well but they just need to SMILE.
Duty Manager very attentive and agreed upgrade when initial room not up to standard.
Noisy bar and lounge area. Wedding in progress but other guests paying full rate deserve some consideration
Excellent efficient check in and out. Plenty of parking.
Slow service on patio and intermittent wifi
fridge in room
only one pillow pp
The place view and the location.
We move to the other room because the bedding got a stain.the room is stinks.
The hotel itself was clean and had nice decor. Good size bedrooms & beautiful grounds.
In the restaurant particularly the staff seemed very inexperienced. Several times they misunderstood requests and bought incorrect meals to both our table and the one next to us but because of the language barrier it made it difficult. There were several differences in what we ordered to what we got and what we did get was not that good. Tuna steak meal was missing the sauce and veg was bitter. Caesar salad was all lettuce. Main & starters disappointing . Desserts were lovely. Ridiculous prices though - almost £20 for two glasses of average wine! The only good thing about the restaurant was one of the waiters who was English and had children was very friendly and good with our grandson. We also had water pouring through our bathroom ceiling when it rained during the night.
The continental electricity plug in the room The building and the renovated elevators
The receptionist very poor attitude at the time of check in (bored and annoyed) The fact that the price of the night had been debited prior to our arrival A private party was monopolising all the TV screens and we had to leave the hotel to find a pub in town to see the world cup final on a large screen
The menu and food
Variety of British fare
the hotel is still lovely, as are the grounds, and the staff was hospitable.
the room we specifically requested many months in advance was not the room we were given, It was a nice room. but not worth the money we had set aside for our original choice. It had worn out furniture and carpet. Not our memory of the hotel at all.
Garden and patio area but could make more of them
Hifi a bit hit and miss Unfortunate work going on in garden but has to happen
for the money we paid it was good. comfort and tv was the best for me.
one of the equipment was making noise all night.
Having previously stayed some years ago, now found the hotel looking tired and in need of doing up. Rooms our expensive for what they are.
The room,& the car parking
The long walk to the room up the stairs & then down the stairs, with luggage at 78 years of age....not good.
