Oban Bay Hotel & SpaCorran Esplanade, PA34 5AE Oban (Show map) Good, Score from 50 reviews“I liked the friendliness of the staff, the relaxed green, wood and leather public rooms. The old photos on the wall of life in Oban a long time back were found in the hotel attic, and give excellent original atmosphere to a seafront hotel. The hotel is right on Oban Bay.”
Alan,
Ayr

In the evening, the Oban's Rannachan Restaurant has a menu featuring fresh, local seafood and organic produce while the bar serves meals throughout the day. Located just out of the town centre but within easy walking distance, and a view to die for. The staff are friendly and welcoming, but perhaps a little over worked - the lovely young receptionist also had to look after the bar (they would do more business if they staffed the bar) and she was there again serving breakfast in the morning. Our room was small and basic but as it was in the old building at the front we had a the best view over the sea. The food was excellent both at dinner and breakfast. If we are in Oban again we would stay here again. The lack of staff on the bar made it a hasstle to order drinks or coffee and tea and as we arrived mid afternoon we could not get any food as the chef finished at 2.30pm. After a 6 hour drive the last thing we wanted to do was search for a place to get a light lunch.

1. The location was excellent 2. The Staff were very helpful. 3. You could walk to good restaurants along the front. 4. The hotel overlooks the harbour and sea. 1. This is an old and well worn hotel. Management should re do the facilities. 2. The rooms were at best "fair" - small and not updated. beds were twin beds and fair. 3. The food was average. 4. The rooms were a long way from the front of the hotel. 5. The bathroom was adequate, but nothing to get excited about. 6. The price was not commensurate with the quality of the hotel or the rooms. The price was way too high for the quality. 7. Parking was limited 8. The plastic hanging green bushes out front finally did it for me.

We enjoyed our stay in the hotel although I was disappointed that the jacuzzi was not working as this was one of the reasons I chose this hotel. It was being fixed the following morning but we were only there for the one night. The breakfast was O.k although the black pudding was rather greasy. The hotel is in a brilliant location and the staff were very helpful.

Courteous staff at reception and in the dining room. Makes all the difference! I did book a single room. Was quite small but cosy and comfortable enough. Would have preferred if the room had been bigger.

We had visited Oban Bay about three years ago and had no hesitation of returning on this occasion. The standard throughout was quite excellent as before with staff attentive at all times. A request from my wife "could she have a small jug of milk for use in our room"was met with "but ofcourse you can" How many miles per day do "girls"walk when serving meals. and do they never feel just a bit off colour ? If so, they never show it. The car park reservation system was good and well worth the charge. If/when we visit Oban again, Oban Bay will be our first choice of accommodation. None. Unless the hotel can be blamed for the rainfall !!

Clean, comfortable accommodation in an excellent location. Good value for money. Sitting in the hot tub at 8 pm in mid September enjoying a Scotch whisky and the excellent bay views was both memorable and heavenly. No complaints whatsoever- pleased that we were able to select this friendly hotel for our 2 days in Oban.

I liked the friendliness of the staff, the relaxed green, wood and leather public rooms. The old photos on the wall of life in Oban a long time back were found in the hotel attic, and give excellent original atmosphere to a seafront hotel. The hotel is right on Oban Bay. Parking is a problem in all the beachfront hotels in Oban, there isn't enough space. The hotel will valet park for you, if you cannot find the nearby long term car park. The various individual spa rooms all lie along the main corridor to the rear wing rooms, and this main access corridor was frequently wet, potentially slippy, and had yellow warning signs posted.

The receptionist and the person serving in the bar provided excellent service. The public areas (lounge and restaurant) were clean and comfortable, but unfortunately this was not indicative of the state of the guest rooms. On arrival no car park was available despite having booked one. The bedroom was tiny and dirty; the carpet was stained, the furniture was dusty, and the sheets had mould spots. We only stayed one night instead of the planned three nights.

The hotel is very easy to get to from the rail station. This is a plus, especially if you don't have a car. The woman at the front desk didn't know much about the area and wasn't able to give much information about what to do or see.

No soap or shampoo in room. Accident in en suite. My partner slipped on 'non - slip' mat in bath. Bump on head, severe bruising under left arm, bruised rib & attached muscle. No visit from manager to investigate or show concern. Breakfasts 'sparse': i.e. one miserly slice of bacon.

Within walking distance of railway station and ideally located for my needs - service at Oban Cathedral just two minutes away. While it did not apply to me there was obvious confusion about car parking in the hotel grounds which was not mentioned on the booking site.

Good location about 5/10 mins walk from piers and shops etc. Breakfast was very good as was dinner. Awesome views from sun lounge at front of hotel. Free WIFI in all of hotel and not chargeable as indicated on this website. Room was comfortable although decor a bit tired and could do with a spruce up. I think a little too expensive at £80 B+B for single room. Window in room had very obvious crack but when I reported they seemed unaware..The staff seem stretched especially in restaurant where courses were served in very quick succession. Had to go look for someone to serve me at bar couple of times. I think some work could be done in customer care.
