The Regent Hotel is prominently situated at the head of Oban's north pier and is close to the shopping center.

Just 1700 ft from Oban Train Station and Oban Ferry Terminal, the Royal offers rooms with private bathrooms, free Wi-Fi and free parking. It serves traditional Scottish food and has a whiskey bar.

Very new and clean
Hot tap was running so slow esp on the upper floor
Perfect for what we were looking for. Cheap and lovely.
A little walk out of the main town, but really not too bad. Shame no drinking water in the rooms.
One of my main reasons for staying at hostels is access to a kitchen. Oban Hostel has a quite fabulous kitchen for the use of their guests. Great views from the bay-facing windows. Very clean and up-to-date. Very happy that there are separate male and female dorms.
Would have liked a quiet area away from TVs etc. to read and relax. The written instructions for arriving by foot from the train station were overly complicated and I got muddled. So simple -- just follow the shoreline!
This hostel is in a prime position in Oban, with the charm of an old establishment and facilties of a modern one.
Travellers rely increasingly on online information - timetables, tickets, maps, travel info of all kinds. This should be provided free. 3GBP for 1 hour access (intermittent) was disappointing. A double room should mean double, not 2 singles pushed together.
Facing the sea and close to everything but quiet for sleeping.
I had to pay for WIFI and internet
Very good en suite room with sea views. Very good members dining and kitchen area.
The view from the room was fantastic. The location was ideal as we wanted to visit islands by ferry.
mattresses were too soft
Comfotable, clean and central. Helpful staff. Quiet, ideal for an overnight stay before catching an early morning ferry.
Washing and drying facilities.
Wi-Fi not free.
Cooked breakfast, better if less expensive.
Sharing - Not having ability to book a private dorm on line.
Nice location with a pleasant walk to the centre and railway station/peer. Staff can be polite and helpful (unless you complain)
Quite noisy, especially from the doors in the corridor - and when someone opens that door the air pressure makes it look like someone is trying to open your door - a bit annoying in the middle of the night. Shower has some weird operating system. We have been given quadruple room instead of double we paid for - not a too big deal (we were still alone in the room), but I didn't plan to sleep below bunk bed. Staff was a bit patronising telling us what to expect from a hostel - and I wonder how would he know what kind of accommodation did we experience and in what parts of the world (he would be surprised) without complaining - but we expect to get what we paid for, and this wasn't usual low hostel rates to justify lack of comfort.
Location, having own kitchen and lounge, friendly staff/residents, remembering being there 30 years ago!
Plumbing needs some attention as water pressure in our en-suite - yes en-suite! showerroom was very temperamental.
Table and chairs in room, quite unusua in youth hostel
Double room with ensuite was basic but comfortable. Seafront location was excellent. Kitchen facilities clean and well equipped.
Fabulous location, helpful staff, clean, bright, airy, reasonable rates, excellent water pressure! Very nice =0]
The shower felt clastrophobic. Also, I think wifi should be free or at least much less than the current pound per 20 minutes.
LOTS OF SPACE IN THE ROOMS - MORE THAN AT OTHER HOSTELS - WONDERFUL VIEW FROM THE DINING ROOM
Close to all transport links, car parking at the hostel. Quiet area and fellow residents very friendly.
Our room was close to the boiler and we could hear it going on throughout the night.
Other guests banging on doors to wake people up at 1.30 am!

Comfortable, recently renovated youth hostel in walking distance of the center of Oban. Very nice view over the bay.
location, friendly staff and overall standard
That I could not stay longer.
The sleeping accomodation, the dining and sitting rooms and the position. Also the friendly and very helpful staff.
The mattress was a little hard, and parking spaces scarce. The door keycard was not easy to work.
I've been coming here for years, for the purpose of transferring from train to ferry, so I don't spend a lot of time here. Having said that, it is very reliable: you can get access at any time, it is clean, it's affordable and has choices of room sizes. It's my first budget choice in Oban.
It's a bit institutional.
The incredible view on the Oban Bay and Isle of Kerrera
