Everything! Use this hotel quite regularly and have never had cause to complain. Staff are friendly and welcoming which always makes the stay a pleasant experience.
No complaints whatsoever.
comfortable room and polite, helpfull and friendly staff. great view over the harbour and excellent breakfast incusive of very reasonable rice.
i feel that the main stair carpet and hallways not too inviting - a bit tired. change old carpet and hang some nice bright art work in the coorridors. impressions are important but othrwise excellent stay ...thank you.
Ideally situated for ferries and train station Outstanding views Very comfortable bed Helpful and happy staff
Traditional and impressive building requiring some TLC - excellent nevertheless.
STAFF WERE ATTENTIVE FOOD WAS GOOD
SHOWER HAD NO COLD WATER TV IN ROOM NEEDING UPDATED AND RESITED ROOM COULD HAVE BEEN WARMER AS WINDOWS NEEDING RENEWED AS DRAUGHTS WERE HORRENDOUS
Breakfast was good and staff were attentitive.
Room was cold, television non existent. Toilet/bathroom was in need of TLC and decor of room need to be upgraded including carpets
The location The size of the room Big windows
Lighting in the room-not bright enough for reading. Breakfast was average-no fresh fruit!
The view was stunning. The room was old world luxury. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The Wi-Fi was poor, signal wise. The tv was archaic, not that there was much need with a view like we had. It did nearly fall on top of me though and it was really heavy!
Breakfast was very good with plenty of choices and staff were very friendly and helpful.
In our room which we paid a premium for, the windows leaked badly when it rained. The toilet seat was broken and tiles were cracked. The bed looked as though it had previously collapsed and had been shoddily screwed back together. The blinds did not work properly so the lights from the ferry ,which were on all night, shone straight into our room.
location, very central
the room was dingy and the bathroom/ shower was dreary and in dire need of improvement some signs of regrouting to tiles done very very badly, unable to change tv Chanel on small small tv. Would not recommend this hotel, breakfast was also poor.
The tv in my fathers room did not work on the first night he was there he was moved the next day but was given nothing to compensate for being without the tv for that night and as he is 82 years of age that was an important part of his stay as he does not go out at night i called the hotel personally 3 times but got told to call back to speak to someone who would help but nothing was ever done was very disapointed at the responce of 4he hotel
The hotel is close to the railway station and rooms at the front have lovely views over the water to Mull
Lukewarm welcome at reception, had to wait in the lounge as we were 10 mins early for check in. No complimentary tea or coffee on arrival. The feature room had water damaged Ceiling and floors, was tight for space and generally dated, worn out decor and flooring. Eventually we were offered a move to a slightly better room by a more helpful receptionist, but it still did not resemble any photo on website. Spoiled the weekend.
Liked the location, the staff, the food and the room. Had to ask for a change of room and was given this with no bother. Decor in dining room and cafe freshly painted and comfortable.
Felt the first room was in need of redecoration. Change of room was much better.
Location near rail and ferry terminals, and shops
Terrible decor: awful! Worn carpets: whole hotel needs refurbishing.
Good central location.
No hotel car park.Car parking in Oban bit of a pain.
Great location. Helpful staff. View from bedroom at front.
Bedroom could do with a freshen up - but don't let that deter you from a stay. No 'lorne' sausage or haggis at breakfast!!
Parking was an issue
The location and the view.
Tired hotel - past its best. Poor TV reception on dated sets.
Wifi was excellent throughout hotel and the resteraunt was nice.
Room at the back facing the road so was quite loud at night with people leaving pubs. Room was basic! Shower doors were broken and someone else's soap had been left in the shower! Very run down and old fashioned.
Needs a but of tender loving care!
Location, cafe down stairs.
Could use a little updating
Good position for ferry and train station
Terrible decorations: bad taste, worn carpets, everything needing investment.
The bar area and restaurant seemed to be areas that were maintained as they are in public view. However the carpets throughout the stairwell were worn out and dated. Our room which we paid extra for was in need of a refurbishment. When I complained about our T.V reception being of very poor quality, I was told by a rather useless red headed male receptionist that seemed as though he would just not be bothered, that ‘ it’s like this throughout Oban’, with no offer of anything else. This I feel was not true, as on our visit we frequented a number of bars and restaurants and found the T.V quality excellent. I feel that to recommend this hotel to anyone would be false advertisement and do no business any good. I do not feel I will be using booking.com or Caledonian Hotel in Oban in the future as they both spoiled our trip. This is something I intend to add to trip advisor.
Nice view of harbour
Filthy pillows Cheap, uncomfortable bed with springs sticking out Single glazing Taxi rank at front of hotel so don't expect any sleep if you are staying there on a Friday or Saturday night!
old rooms, sloping floors. cracking paint, noisy creaking bed. We have stayed here for 20 years and watched it deteriorate gradually even after a partial refit. too expensive for what you get, inconsistency in room allocations as they are different on the 3rd floor and very small
The cleanliness of rooms the size of rooms
The bathrooms need renovated found very hard to get in to the high half bath to shower no rails to help get in or out. The breakfast was not to appetizing.Decor in rooms could be better
