Plenty of interesting places to visit nearby. The staff were very attentive and friendly
You must book spa treatments in advance. If you leave it till you arrive you will probably find there are no slots available.
We had a wonderful weekend at Ockenden Manor as a Christmas present from family while they volunteered to babysit our insomniac baby and hyperactive toddler. It was the perfect place to get some breathing space and long overdue sleep and catch up with each other - we relaxed with the first scent of wood smoke, sip of gin and sight of the dinner menu!
truly wonderful food, beautifully served, lovely room, and great location
Spa, restaurant and staff.
Room a bit chilly.
Location. Restaurant excellent. Spa very good. Old world charm
Wardrobe space very limited in room allocated. Insufficient storage
Everything was done to ensure we had a wonderful Christmas and we did. Particular thanks to the friendly staff, and for the outstanding Christmas meal and for some extra presents in our room.
Beautiful hotel delicious food .
The location in lovely Cuckfield village is excellent. The old manor has been beautifully restored/maintained and is a very special place to stay. The cosy bar is a gorgeous place for a drink by the fire in winter, and the grounds are stunning. Do pay a visit to the spa, which is excellent.
Great rooms, cosy hotel, with roaring fires throughout. Dinner was outstanding definitely worth the Michelin star. Outdoor swim-out pool was lovely under the stars and the staff both in the restaurant and behind the desk were exceptional.
Drinks were very expensive and although the night staff gentleman was second to no other bar man or staff I have ever encountered, I think there should have been a bill to sign at the end of the order as the next mornings bill was verging on excessive….£10 for a rum and lemonade is too much even hotel prices (in my opinion) However the food was worth every penny, as was the room and spa

Narrow bed and bar area
Thought Spa facilities were over priced.
All of it. The leisure/spa facilities were excellent, with everything laid on, including towels robes and flip-flops. The indoor/outdoor swimming pool was lovely. The staff were excellent, the food very nice, the views spectacular. Old fashioned elegance and grace!
Nothing really, but be careful how you park. There are flower beds separating the parking bays and someone drove over the very low row of bricks retaining the soil and got stuck (for a couple of hours and had to call rescue services!)
the SPA was really nice.
Staff are rude, inflexible and not up to scratch of what's supposed to be one of the finer hotels in area. such a shame, would have really hoped for a better experience.
Chose this hotel as it has a pool that leads from indoors to outside. We were there at the end of October on a gloriously sunny and warm day so it was lovely to swim outdoors. Wonderful food with good vegetarian choice. Beautiful views over the grounds to the South Downs.
Having to leave after just one night's stay, we'll be back I'm sure.
The spa facilities were amazing and the meal we had in the restaurant was superb.
The room was disappointing. Very small and no bath. Felt it was expensive for what it was. The fitness room was also small
Lovely rooms, comfortable beds, proper pillows! Roaring fires, wood panelled bar, nice sitting room with great view. Delicious food, attentive staff. Fabulous looking spa, don’t forget to bring you swimming things! A perfect place for an anniversary celebration, we had a splendid time.
The new Spa was fantastic, great Yoga class. Dining room and views were lovely.
Some lack of professionalism by wait staff at Sunday lunch, coffee and petit-fours not value for money, had same amount petit-four for 6 on Sunday as for 3 mid-week, when lunch was excellent.
The room was very dark and only lit by a couple of lamps. When I mentioned this to the reception I was told that it was in character but when you have to go to a window to get enough light to see in a mirror it is a bit much. Also a small but important detail no brown sugar for your coffee in a morning and the jars of jam provided could be the same as in a travel motel.
Excellent facilities at the spa Staff at both the hotel and spa very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere We were very lucky to receive a free up grade to our room. Room was fabulous. Food amazing and service excellent Beautiful grounds
Shower head faulty but our fault that we did not report it until we checked out Were informed that it would be attended to straight away.
- Nice area and grounds - Beautiful building - Incredible pool and spa - Comfy bed - Pretty good restaurant - Nice breakfast included
- Dinner not quite as good as expected for a Michelin starred restaurant - Rooms a little tired - Very high markups on the wine list
We are planning to go again just for the spa alone.
Dinner options were limited to one budge type!
The spa was fabulous..the best part of the stay Dining was also extremely good and we were well accommodated when arriving late for breakfast
The room was a big disappointment. If we had been American and 5 foot tall we probably would have loved it. The room was dark and depressing. the bathroom was I suspect the one that was used during the Tudor period. A serious update needed. My husband really couldn't fit in the bath and had to have a hand held shower…a luxury bathroom is a must. I did ask to move rooms but the hotel was full…supposedly. Would love to visit again because the spa was wonderful but would not want that room…THOMAS (the name of the room).
The spa was fantastic , and so too was the dinner
When travelling alone on business it is the small things that make a difference - like the toiletries, iron and ironing board in the room, bottle of water, proper tea pot !, very comfortable bed and quiet room. A swim was just what I needed after a busy day, and the staff were very accomodating as I think they really wanted to clean-up and go home. Lovely fresh but quick breakfast too.
