The very quiet location. Good selection of breakfasts (cooked to order) Nothing too much trouble for Sandra.
We found the sofa very uncomfortable,so much so that my husband brought in a deckchair to sit in whilst watching TV !
Unpleasant smell in room. Asked for a quiet room but we were next to the road, although a country lane it was very busy in the evening and again traffic started quite early in the morning. Entrance/exit to the property could be safer. Very narrow turning off the road and difficult to see if clear to pull out. Breakfast taken at communal table in the kitchen.
Sandra was the most welcoming of host, her breakfast was delirious and well presented and cooked. The view from our room over looking the fields and sunset was lovely. The room was very warm, too warm! Ample tea and coffee and chocolate biscuits were provided during our stay.
The room we stayed in was looking a little tired and some repairs minor repairs were needed. The window were ill fitting and double glassing would have helped. The shower was very poor, the pressure was so weak it was pointless trying to use it. However we did enjoy our stay.
Friendly welcome. Eco friendly. High ceilings and wrought iron features in a converted chapel.
Instant coffee sachets in the room.
We loved the rural outlook and cosy room, which was very clean and comfortable the gardens are lovely to sit in and enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine after a hard day's touring, Sandra is a wonderful hostess and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable.
Over priced , charged twice
Breakfast Facilities in room
Totally inadequate shower Poor lighting, especially in bathroom Shower in darkness behind curtain Tired bedding and linen Poor vehicle access off busy main road Drinking water contaminated Poor ventilation Damp atmosphere
The room was a good size with the added bonus of a sofa and great wardrobe space. Really nice to also have the option of a bath rather than just the generic shower. Breakfast was great and Sandra is an excellent host!
Sandra was really friendly and had a great wealth of knowledge about the area and tourist attractions; had a talent of tuning in to best suit your needs and wants! Lovely location, which had good links for walks and sight seeing. Breakfasts were fresh, tasty and very yummy!
The light tube in the bathroom made it more pleasant. Breakfast was good and served on time.
The room lacked good natural light. Difficult to turn around on the drive. No real views over countryside and unable to see outside from the room.
Lovely room. Quiet surroundings. Nice touches in the toiletries in the bathroom. Good info on the locality. And a good breakfast.
Our next hotel.
Firstly, communication from this place is poor - allegedly my email address was wrong on the internet and I didn't receive an email I should have done. Funny how booking.com managed it with the same address??!! The place is not easy to find and the post code refers to the middle of a field. The rambling directions in the email are less than constructive. On arrival, the place is for sale and this sets the alarm bells ringing!! A commercial estate agent might have been a little more discreet?? We had booked one of the rooms in the Chapel with its thirty foot vaulted ceilings and generous floor area. On arrival - there was no one there to greet us or extend a welcome - there was no vaulted ceiling - nor was it thirty feet high. The cobwebs were over thirty feet long and covered in dust so thick they were around a 1/4 inch in diameter. The two residents responsible for these had a leg span of over three inches! Arachnophobes beware!! There were exposed beams and the ridge was no more than fifteen feet - hardly the ethereal, atmospheric room we had imagined. The same elastic tape measure had been used to measure the rest of the room. The promised "wrought iron" was black painted tin from the local DIY store. The doors opening out onto the area to the rear of the property is obstructed by the TV and cannot be opened as it has been sealed. The curtains are filthy. The owner claims to be responsible for green tourism in the South and displays signs suggesting you should minimise the use of water and she even withholds face towels as part of this drive and yet then provides a double bath which must use three of four times more water than a normal bath and a plug which doesn't fit - so the bath is unusable anyway!! Bed linen is older than the "wrought iron" and unironed and the room was generally grubby and worn.
Lovely room, good recommendations for local eateries, great healthy breakfasts with home made jams
on main road but little traffic noise
The Chapel room we stayed in was beautiful & a very high standard. Breakfast was delicious & having it outside in the lovely garden was a perfect start to the day. The owner was so helpful & very welcoming. Would definitely stay again.
Parking was quite tight.
@Quirkyness' of the 'Old Chapel', yet with modern facilities. Lovely view across the fields. Wide choice for breakfast, very filling and tasty. Sandra was a ' mine of information' about the local area and very thoughtful about the needs of her varied guests.
We stayed at Old Chapel Forge for one night in the family suite with our two young children. The family suite was very comfortable - good sized rooms, good beds, and all the facilities you would expect. It was all very clean and pleasantly decorated. Breakfast was really lovely; the food was very tasty and Sandra was extremely hospitable. All in all a very nice stay
Location great for Portsmouth ferry terminal. Breakfast was superb, owner very friendly. Really lovely to join others for breakfast around the kitchen table. Room clean, comfortable, lots of thought has gone into the facilities. Beds very comfortable - bliss.
road noise as road is close and seemed busy.
Charlie was friendly and cooked us a lovely breakfast views from the chapel were lovely, lots of extra touches in the room that you would never get with a chain hotel, lambs pub in nearby pagham was excellent ( thanked Charles for the recommendation)
Car park slightly small and hard to turn but don't let this put you off as everything else was perfect !!
friendly owners and good location for touring the area
Thank you for Sandra and her husband for the great time. Loved the breakfast and all the help that we got on what to see in the area it helped us a lot. For us this was a perfect few days.
Nice location, in between the South Downs and the Sea, with Chichester en Arundel close by. Tasty breakfast, with every day choice of different possibilities, served in good and warm kitchen atmosphere. A lot of advice for trippers from our hosts: where to go, walk and eat...
Sandra was in 'a hurry' when we arrrived, which didn't make us feel very welcome at first, but this was compensated the next morning by a warm welcome at breakfast by her husband. The room deserves a thorough dust removal... We were dissappointed by the amount of water running out of shower in our 'Chapel Suite'...we are ecominded too, but we still like some comfort, certainly at this price per night.
The room was very comfortable over looking fields very tranquil. Breakfast was fantastic freshly cooked. We will book again when we are down that way. Thank you
There was nothing we didn't like, just perfect.
The only like we had about this property was the location
Bed was very hard, room had cobwebs all over.Breakfast we had to order the night before as it was allegedly cooked fresh on the day, when we went for it at the booked time it all came out of the oven and was dried up with the exception of the toast , and to our horror when we requested scrambled eggs they were microwaved.
The hostess had a great knowledge of the area and what we should see while in the area. The breakfast was lovely a great choice of fresh fruit, a cooked breakfast and cereals.
Was out of the way, you had to drive everywhere and we love to walk. A mirror on the gate would be helpful. It is very hard to see the road unless you stick the car out into the traffic. A minor point, but using toiletries that have been used by other visitors raised concerns about hygiene. Bed linen was not very good quality.
The room was very comfortable and spacious, breakfasts were excellent and Sandra's hospitality (and advice) was outstanding.
