I liked the pub and cheerful staff. The town is charming full of small shops. We visited Yorkshire dales and moors which were in reasonable distance.
Quaint rooms. Plenty to eat at breakfast and all freshly made. Pleasant staff.
Limited vegetarian choice on breakfast menu
You need a good cleaner.and check the bed for bugs
Very warm, Hospitable & comfortable
The bedroom was large and the bed was comfortable.
The shower in the bath was not convenient to use. With the toilet alongside the head of the bath, entry and exit was not easy. The evening meal was disappointing and they could not find a corkscrew to open a bottle of wine.
The room we stayed in was very spacious and very comfortable and the massive bed was to die for,the staff were very friendly and the food excellent and the breakfast was brilliant, would stay there again, thank you for the welcoming stay
the only fault was the shower needed more water pressure
Dog hairs in room-got on our clothes, room docor poor, had evening meal which was inedible coursing us to complain.
Olde-worlde charm & comfortable. Easy enough to find parking out front. Excellent restaurant over the road. Didn't try the hotel's restaurant for dinner but breakfast was fine, good quality but not a massive choice.
Only the price; we have stayed in masses of hotels & guesthouses all over the UK & the room was expensive at £96; in most places it would have been £10-15 cheaper. Maybe you're paying for the history of the place?
Nice room, good food, location, pleasant staff.
TV didn't work.
excellent accommodation, staff pleasant and very helpful. Food lovely.
Sheets and towels and mattress
A spacious room and bathroom, both well furnished. Breakfast was good and service was efficient even though it seemed that one person was doing everything
Dinner did not live up to the descriptions on the menu and was disappointing. Service was friendly but chaotic, perhaps not helped by a busy Saturday. We felt that more staff were needed. Our advice would be to take bed and breakfast but have dinner elsewhere.
Central location, lovely big bedroom and bed, evening meal really tasty and excellent breakfast. T n c making facilities in room, live bands on James who played on Saturday 3rd May was brilliant. Staff friendly and helpful? We were on motor bike and as pub on main road we were able to park it in the pubs private yard.
Can't think of anything
Location and staff
Breakfast and breakfast staff very good.
Evening meal disappointing.
staff were very friendly ,helpful and extremely pleasant at breakfast location excellent.
the on suite had a small door into a smaller room everything looks and is very tired, and this makes it feel dirty we have stayed in many rooms in most parts of the united kingdom and this is by far the worst we wont be staying there again without a lot of refurbishment
Large Room, good location, friendly staff. good value.
bathroom needs update
The room was spectacular! It was very spacious and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was included too and there was a good selection available.
I guess if you want to stay in your room all night and watch TV you might be disappointed
The bar with a range of real ales the breakfast was very good and staff very pleasant and helpfull
Booking out and going home !!
The hotel was lovely and clean. The food was also really good.
We enjoyed our stay very much, the Old Well Inn is very old and therefore has not the up market rooms that you would expect from a modern hotel, but it was very clean and tidy, and had everything that was needed, the Bar area was very pleasant and informal. The Breakfast was excellent couldn't fault it at all.. The Inn was a perfect location, central for the Castle, Bowes Museum and High Force Waterfalls
There was nothing to complain about except we had a room in the roof and the birds in the attic were very noisy in the morning.
Nice large comfortable room, good high street location and friendly pub downstairs
Breakfast pretty basic with tasteless coffee, not many folk around, couldn't find anyone to pay on checking out! so had to ring back later.
Nice big room. Good breakfast.
No wi-fi. Room a little dated - could do with decorating
