The Old Plough is a picturesque 18th century inn situated just 4 miles from Rutland Water and only 2 miles from the town of Oakham. It offers a full English breakfast each morning and free parking.
Score from 10 reviews Very good
Large rooms with lots of room to store things. Lovely bathroom.
Parking is a bit tight in the hotel courtyard.
Lovely comfortable stay in a clean spacious room
No negatives - happy with our one night stay
Good value and great breakfast!
Bed was uncomfortable.
The layout...the staff...the bedrooms..the peace and quiet...breakfast was excellent.
Excellent location near to the centre of town; Friendly staff; Large bedroom.
Hospitality. The receptionist very kindly made us a pot of tea to take in the lounge although this was not actually on offer.
No refreshments served in the lounge and pre-booking dinner despite arriving by 4.00 p.m. and there appeared to be very few people in hotel we had to eat elsewhere.
Clean, Generally a nice place to stay.
Nobody was ever around.
Everything - the room, the shower, the breakfast...
Very close to town next to the museum
Finding the car park
Arrived before checkin time but as our room was ready we could check in. Room was large with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was very nice. Ideal location parked the car up and everything was within walking distance
WiFi reception was a bit poor
Good central location for a walk into town for supper. Freshly cooked breakfast to order. Will stay again next time we are in Rutland. Easy free parking, only problem was wi-fi use.
Our room was very comfortable and roomy. We had a view of trees across the road which was a pleasant surprise. There was a good selection of places to eat in the town within an easy walk of the hotel. Staff were polite and welcoming. We would recommend this hotel to others.
The only thing I thought could be improved on would be if a map of the town was provided.
Damp on the walls
Clean, comfortable hotel with excellent breakfast. One of the nicest hotels we've stayed in.
Lovely hotel, very clean. Good size rooms, free parking. Min from Victoria Hall where I attended a wedding. Beautiful area, would visit again.
From arriving to leaving we found the staff, especially Katie who seemed to be around most of the time, very helpful and obliging. The location of the Wisteria is excellent. We had a ground floor bedroom which was not a problem and there was very little noise from traffic. We certainly enjoyed the experience.
Nothing to complain about
Good parking, good downstairs toilets.
More could be made of the old bar area, night porter indicated just in time at 10:55 on Saturday night, too much space given to empty restaurant area, no lounge area to sit in.
Thoughtful staff. When I was ill a tray of coffee and toast was dispatched to my room and advice given on seeking medical advice at the hospital .
Lovely big rooms, fab bathroom, great breakfast, great location.
Bed was a little uncomfortable, and the walls seemed very thin.
Bathroom very clean
Rooms and service
Good beds and good breakfast
Lack of pleasant sitting area in public place. Next room first night had TV on until 3.00am.
beds. falling to bits - terrible. noone said that the 'bar' existed. Didn't see until we left
I am on a gluten free diet and was provided for which doesn't always happen in other hotels I have stayed at. Also it was near the centre of Oakham and were able to find plenty of places to eat
There was nothing we didn't like
