A relaxing Elizabethan Manor House which maintains its character and architectural features, with a great oak door giving access to the reception. The hotel has 18 rooms, with an additional 4 suites available for that extra luxury. All rooms have private bathrooms and a large percentage have traditional characteristics such as exposed beams, original leaded windows and uneven floorboards - creating a charm that takes you back centuries. Free Wi-Fi and broadband internet access are available. Each room has Freeview digital TV and telephone connections. Hotel Rooms: 18

Lovely medieval building, very good staff, good food in bar and best bacon I've tasted at breakfast, they seem to source moost food locally where possible which is a big plus. Location excellent for touring the Wye valley and forest of Dean. Our room was a tad on the small side, one of the rooms in the modern wing.

Courteous pleasant staff. Good quality food, especially breakfast. Good value for money I felt it was slightly mean to only have chocolates in the room on the first night.

The Old Court Hotel was a lovely Elizabethan Manor and the staff were friendly and could not do enough to help. We eat in the bar each night where the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone wishing to explore the Wye Valley. It is 5 minutes walk to the River and Symonds Yat West and easy reach of Monmouth, Hereford and Ros-on-Wye. We had a standard double bedroom in the new wing which was okay although a little small and the bed was not a standard double size. If staying again we would definitely ask for a room in the old part of the Hotel where the rooms are better proportioned with beams and four poster beds.

Very cosy 16th century hotel ,nice countrytside location .excellent food.staff very friendly and very helpful. Any problems were dealt with very quickly. Tables in dining conservatory in need of some tender loving care .eg.marks on tops of tables. 2 non residents with 2 dogs were allowed to dine in the small lounge.

The hotel is set in well kept gardens and the building is impressive, had read their menus on the internet and decided to book a table in the restaurant, the food and service was excellet, there is also an extensive bar menu. Breakfast was also very good with a very tasty full English. The atmosphere at the hotel was very homely and very different from some hotels I have stayed at. The room was clean and comfortable. I Would use the hotel again.

On the whole staff were friendly and tried hard. The bar food was good value and the breakfast was great and well presented. On arrival we found 2 staff members chatting to each other in the reception who only stopped when we said hello. There was a dirty plate of food sitting on the top of the reception desk which stayed there until I asked if it was our welcome gift. Our four poster room was accessible via a tortuous route up steep stairs, along a corridor through what was originally an attic space, and then down stairs again. Difficult if you have lots of bags. We later realised that this up and down route formed a passageway going over part of our room, and at times it sounded like we had people walking through the room when corridor was used. At night we could see the light from the corridor shining through cracks into our room, a clear sign that additional sound insulation would be useful. The TV in the room was tiny, and was wall mounted 10ft away from the head of the bed, which made for difficult TV viewing. At breakfast there was a loud radio station pumping music into the dining room. When I asked if it could be turned off I was informed that " there are other guests". I suppose the assumption being that loud music was something all guests wanted early in the morning. When I asked the other two tables if they wanted music they both asked for it to be turned off as well, which the staff did do thankfully.

The Hotel exceeded all our expectations. Was booked as a birthday treat and it certainly was a treat. The room had a four poster bed and was super - the food was sublime from breakfast to the restaurant to the bar. Staff couldn't have been friendlier and all spoke English !!! Managed to shop in Hereford, Monmouth and Ross all in the same day. Would certainly use this Hotel again and have no problem recommending to all.

The bedroom was very comfortable, quiet and warm, just what I needed after a very wet and windy day. Excellent menu choice for dinner, food was very well prepared. Breakfast service was a little late for me at 8am, but I was not in a rush to leave!

Great location near the River Wye and Symond Yat, as long as you turn right out of the hotel. Rambling old pile that will not please Travel Lodge aficionados. Loved the individuality of the place, where do they buy the replica swords and shields hung on the walls? Food with big hearty portions, excellent value which we all enjoyed. Wine great value for money. The staff are really good fun and very helpful with loads of character. No dreary 'customer service standard' here. If you like a place that is a bit different - historic, off the hoof service, not part of a chain with the odd quirk - great. The plumbing in the bedroom was noisy, but we were transferred to another room without a quibble. Watch the low beams if you are tall. Should sell Herefordshire Pale Ale in the bar which is available in the Saracens Head and the Ferry Inn and superb. Minor issues a good stay.

The atmosphere was very laid back - it has a calm feel about it. The building is 16th century - amazing. Food was excellent - massive portions and great choice. Local produce. Log fires. Four poster beds. Staff made you feel welcome from the moment you walked in the door. Would definitely return.

Good location - excellent walks from hotel. Good function facilities. Very friendly, helpful staff. Charming old building. Tiny bathroom with very low and narrow entrance resulting from need to fit it into a very old building.
