Staff very helpful. Food great. A lovely hotel and experience.
Very friendly and helpful staff. A good menu with superb steaks. Good bar with cask ales.
There was nothing to dislike
beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings , excellent staff and service , very friendly and welcoming , probably the best hotel weve ever stayed in , would love to go back as soon as possible
The Hotel staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. The food was excellent and the hotel and rooms were very clean.
Bedroom was a little tired and could do with some redecorating.
spacious bedroom - decent size single beds - quality mattress cover (not plastic) quality duvet (these things make for a good nights sleep) warm and comfortable room. Excellent food and friendly efficient staff - family run - makes a huge difference
Staff really friendly and helpful, tremendous old building, good size room with original stone fireplace and 4 poster bed. Great food at good price in bar.
Bathroom needed gutting and starting again. Access to room was up 2 flights of stairs, along corridor and down another flight. Pillows were solid.
From the moment we arrived we were put at ease by the wonderful staff the resturant menu was expansive but when the food arrived it became so worth the money. We were put in the barn in the four poster suite a must for any couple on their own as we were celebrating our 1st wedding anniversay a perfect weekend
Breakfast was great my only suggestion would be that when u have the full english if you didnt like somthing say eggs for example then they should offer you an extra sausage or bacon instead
Hotel very clean, welcoming.Food in bar was varied and well-cooked.Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Our room,Aldwinkle, was rather small (not a lot of space at foot of bed). The addition of a second bedside lamp would have been useful.
Was welcomed on arriving and booked in before time. The room that we had was mid size over looking the front of the hotel the breakfast was exercellent as with all the meals that we had. The garden out the back is lovely as you can relax and enjoy your time there.
You might be a bit cold in the room that we had in the winter as there was a hole in one of the glass pains. I thought the the drinks was over priced as the first 2 drinks was the same as I payed in a 5 star hotel in Wales. And I did find it a little bit noisy as it seems to be very busy in the nights .
A very characterful ancient building, with a marvellous historic dining hall, very comfortable and relaxed in ambience. We had a good evening meal. Lovely and quiet in the room, slept really well. We liked looking out on the generally authentic and unimproved former farmyard with wonderful ancient barns. We have been here before and will return when needing to stay in the area.
The furnishings and fittings in our bedroom were a bit scruffy and 1980s-ish, but we like the place in spite of this.
Comfortable bed. Good price for the room, although it was very small. The staff were all very pleasant.
Bath had enamel peeling off it. Food was expensive and mediocre. We had fish and chips one evening and it was served on top of soggy salad, which really doesn't go with battered fish.
The location of the suite being away from the main hotel meant it was nice and peaceful - a good job I set my alarm each morning or we would have missed breakfast it was so quiet! We ate in the bar on the Friday evening and the restaurant on the Saturday - both meals very enjoyable, not overly priced, hot / freshly cooked Breakfast was really nice, with a good selection to choose from, again very tasty and in my opinion, if you waited a bit for it, at least you knew it had been freshly cooked and not been sitting on a warming plate for however long! Would definitely go back
Location was fantastic. The food is good and staff are very friendly. It is a very interesting building, with breakfast served in a wonderful hall. Well worth a visit.
We had a four poster bed in our room which felt the size of a three quarter bed, so we didn't get a great night sleep.
The Breakfast was good
Evening meal the steak and ale pie was excellent but light on meat, the chips were so hard on the exterior they reminded me of the roast potatoes from school dinners we used to compete to be first to penetrate the outer shell. The bed was the most worn out and uncomfortable i've tried to sleep in if we'd booked longer I would have cancelled after the first night and gone home.
A lovely old building with a "baronial" dining room and comfortable bars and lounge. The staff could not be more helpful and the meals were superb with plenty of choice. The room and bedding were comfortable and clean.
The bathroom was very tired, sink and bath could do with replacing.
The staff were very helpful, charming and approachable. access from the main road was very easy. Meals were excellent, very tasty, well cooked. Parking and entrance to the hotel was highly commendable.
Not having soft fruit to go with cereal for breakfast and chairs that are difficult to move in the dining room.
accomodation, food and staff was very good indeed
Breakfast room, garden, room, bar
staff telling us we couldn't book conservatory for meal and then arriving to find tables booked. But on complaint, it was very quickly and satisfactorily resolved.
Beautiful location Character of hotel. Very atmospheric. 4 poster bed. Food was outstanding and good value. Staff very friendly.
the staff were brilliant the food to was brilliant the hotel & gardens were great 11 out of 10
Comfortable room with a small balcony overlooking garden. Very comfortable bed. Staff all very friendly and helpful. We would definitely like to return some time. Great few days at a good price.
We would have liked ssome more traditional food on the menu - as 'golden oldies' we enjoy 'meat and two veg' dishes. The food we did have was good, apart from the duck meal in the Tudor Restaurant - first time I've had 'tough' duck meat! Vegs were good though, and puds nice. Also the Fish Pie was very tasty.
easy for other places to visit in surrounding area pleasant walks and super boat trip on the wye nice pubs super foot
Location as expected, the grounds were well maintained and had a good mixture for colour, peaceful setting.average price for refreshments..friendly and helpful staff
A bit mean with the breakfast...full english breakfast?....one rasher of beacon,one sausage.one egg.3 mushrooms,one blackpudding,and half a tomato...
