The reception staff were very helpful and welcoming. The main areas of the hotel were tastefully decorated in a contemporary style. We did not use the pool, bar or restaurant as we were attending a wedding reception nearby and just stayed overnight.
The bedroom, although very clean, was a bit tired and dated, unlike the main areas of the hotel. Very small TV and the bathroom had a brown sink, toilet and shower tray.
Room was clean and staff friendly despite being under pressure
No Wi Fi caused me problems - major reason for stay was to work during the evening. No where to sit in bar area for dinner - sat in lounge but no atmosphere. Charged for breakfast I didn't have - resolved on check out room was cold - radiator didn't seem to work
Room size was good
Lack of staff and facilities, rooms were dated and breakfast wasn't worth the money.
The pool was lovely and the bar area was very comfortable.
The steam room wasn't working
sauna swimming pool gym breakfast
bar meals (poor quality: undercooked chips and overcooked meat (burned)
Pool with Sauna & hot tub was good Nice Bar with good fast food
Wifi was pretty poor, especially in my room (20X). Was OK in the lounge but marginal in the bar. TV was in the bar & was too loud (Not everyone loves strictly...!)
The location was just off the A1 which was good
Had to change rooms as no wifi in mine had work to do that evening. No hot water in the morning!! Tried to ring reception - no reply. Still no hot water 2 hours later! Staff not that interested when I compained - they did not make me pay for breakfast (!) and I'm still waiting for the manager to contact me.
On the house - relocated to upgraded room for last night - Wi-Fi and TV reception very good: heated room and bathroom: quiet fan extractor. Excellent staff. Some areas of the building modern!
Cold room: cold bathroom - noisy fan heater: very, very noisy extractor fan! Rain came into bedroom! TV reception very poor and WI-FI reception very poor. Some areas of the building in need of upgrading! Too much of a contrast between old and new! A bit like 3rd class against 1st class!
indifferent attitude of staff
food and bed
wifi didnt work in room but could be computer prob
Great staff, comfortable room, good food. Great location for Fulbeck.
The whole restaurant and bar area could do with a major clean. All the table surfaces were 'greasy' and sticky.
good nights sleep in the new rooms price is good wifi is steady
same menu as always slow service for food
My husband and I stayed at the olde barn hotel for our first wedding anniversary, set in a lovely setting , the staff were friendly and helpful . The place was lovely and welcoming , in particular the young lads in the restaurant . Cannot fault there customer service at all. Fantastic and they should be proud of themselves. Food was superb and a thoroughly good weekend was had by both. Would definitely go again .
Lovely smile and welcome from Sarah in Reception. She was backed up by the really cool Charlie, Depute General Manager. Spoke to Karl, the Chef and sought his recommendations for our dinner that night. Outstanding dinner and then breakfast.
That we only had time to stay for one night!!
Interesting layout and interior decoration. Good parking. Helpful receptionist.Quiet.
We had trouble finding the place. Our GPS led us all round the countryside. It may have been easier if we had been approaching the place from the motorway.
Clean, quiet room
Almost no natural light in room, window about 3 ft from another part of building. Road has quite fast traffic so not easy to walk into village.
Comfy Bed Very clean room Nice food Friendly and helpful staff
WiFi was very poor in the room and was unusable Was no barbell in the gym or weight plates
Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Gym facilities were also quite good.
Beds were very uncomfortable, shower facilities were quite poor. Fresh bottles of water in the room would have been a nice touch
The room was good and reasonably clean
Food was poor quality. Grouting on shower floor was dirty. Noise from adjacent rooms, we could hear them talking and using WC.
Quiet location was ideal and check in pain free. Staff were always pleasant.
Food quality below par for the price. I paid extra £29 to upgrade to a superior double room, but I was not impressed. Decor was sub- standard as were fitments. No full length mirror, TV screen was minute (14" or so), single bed in the same room and only one chair (in a double room that was laid out for three people? !). Restaurant tried to charge me for three courses when I only had two. .... Not a good value for money stay unfortunately.
I have to say that the food at the restaurant was brilliant, good value for money and plenty of it-too much infact.
I booked a night away for me and my friend hoping to have a relaxing experience as the Old Barn is sold as having a spa/pool. However, the walls of the rooms were paper thin and led to a poor nights sleep. Also when using the spa and pool facilities on the Saturday morning we were confronted by the pool taken over by external children's swimming lessons and lots of fully dressed Dad's around the pool which felt very uneasy as we were in swimsuits. Not at all a relaxing spa experience and shouldn't be sold as such. We couldn't even use the pool area. The bathroom was shabby and unclean around the shower and the whole Hotel looked tired.
Good bed shower clean rooms bar / lounge
breakfast remote location
