Good bathroom and great shower Breakfast service was appalling slow Took far too long to check in I called 3 days before arriving to pre book taxis, when arrived I checked to see if booked and was told yes. On the day the taxi was very late and when did arrive the driver knew nothing of the bookings. And considering the rooms were £168 per night why was full English breakfast extra, Why do you have to pay for papers and why did I have pay a charge for paying by credit card even though my bill was over £2000. And why was it £6 for glass of baileys? This hotel is a total rip off and not worth the money

The view as its frontline to lake Windermere. Also its situated in Bowness which is more happening than Ambleside. The staff are horrible. This is the first review I make on a hotel and I did this simply because of how bad they were. I am not new to traveling, as its part of my job. I have visited upwards of 200 different hotels in my working life and never seen service this bad.

fantastic location and great hotel and staff We booked in at 3.30 pm but could not get a dinner reservation for that night until 20.45, so we ate out of the hotel. It was a shame as we would have liked to use the restaurant, the menu looked very nice.

Room was wonderful and it appeared that every effort was made to make friends wedding as special as possible. The female Reception staff on booking in on Saturday were unhelpful, rude and appeared not to have any time for us, or anyone booking in.

We loved the location, right on the banks of Lake Windermere, and were very lucky to be upgraded to a lake view room. The continental breakfast buffet was superb and the dining room was lovely. The staff were very efficient at a very busy time of the year (half term). We enjoyed using the pool and thermal spa, and really appreciated having 'adult only' times. All in all a very enjoyable stay. Many thanks to all staff.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely, especially breakfast as it was over looking the lake. Room was clean and always warm and cosy and bath robes were lovely. Spa faciliies were excellent. We had a room overlooking the road which was noisy at night as it was used for a taxi rank for the pub next door, only got about 5 hours sleep each night. Apart frfom that everything else perfect.

The location overlooking the lake was inspiring and due to the poor weather it provided the opportunity to benefit from the location without the negative impact of the unfavourable weather. The spa was an opportunity to relax and exercise an experience the ice room.

Excellent view over the lake, very friendly and helpful staff. Pool/spa was good. Lots of restaurants and some shops within easy walking distance. Room was comfortable. Car parking was not next to the hotel, not a problem as concierge would park your car for you, but better signposting would help.
