Staff were very friendly ; good atmosphere invoking centuries old charm - only sampled the breakfast which was excellent. Room was too small and too hot - appreciate that air conditioning was out of the question but provision of fans should be considered. Even opening the window did not help much. It was unusually hot for Buxton. Bathroom was also very small and the shower partition made it difficult to get in and out of the bath. |

We liked the old world charm and the slighlty quirky nature of the hotel, and the fact that it hadn't been over-modernised. Staff were helpful but unobtrusive. The atmosphere was friendly. Not really, although the fact that the restaurant / winebar stop serving food at 10.00pm is a bit at odds with the claim to provide post-theatre snacks, and most evening performances will end around 10.00. This didn't apply to us though, as we ate before the performance. |

All staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Both the restaurant and the wine bar had good menus. The location is perfect being right next to the pavillion gardens although the room we had faced an inner courtyard |

The ambience. the old fashioned charm and the food. The chef and the breakfast serving staff did not seem to know what was printed on the breakfast menu - each morning we had to ask for a missing item. |
