Charming, old building (dating back to 1573), centrally located, with beautiful views from the large bedroom windows and within easy access to the Pavilion Gardens, the Opera House and much, much more. Friendly staff, comfortable spacious bedroom, delicious breakfasts...

This is not so much a 'not like', but a suggestion for the next staff training:There is so much to see and do in Buxton that we wished the charming staff members were more proactive at suggesting walks/must dos in and around the Hotel, and more knowledgeable about the history of the hotel itself! For example, it was the wonderful driver/guide Michael, on the Victorian 'Tram' ride that told us of Queen Mary Queen of Scotts inscriptions on the original windows of the Old Hall Hotel with her diamonds, whilst in 'custody'. And we read of the 'famous' Mary's Cake only after we'd been to afternoon tea at an alternative establishment, but would have stayed at the Old Hall if we'd been told about it by the staff!

It was a very historic hotel and the staff were very nice. We didn't eat there in the evening so cannot comment on evening meal. Breakfast was excellent and good choice.

I stayed at the Old Hall Hotel with my new husband and we enjoyed it very very much. We strolled opposite to the Pavilion Park, and the Opera House, and then just a short stroll away was the shopping centre and some really nice, traditional bars. The younger staff are a real asset to this hotel, as was the freshly cooked breakfast - that was delicious!!

There was nothing not to like about our stay.

Staff most helpful, food choice excellent and of good quality. The ensuite facilities were extremely good

A few of my friends in adjoining rooms were disappointed with the lack of heating but I was very comfortable. The key fobs were very heavy and large!

Situated within minutes of most Buxton landmarks, this cosy hotel made our stay perfect.

Maybe getting close to needing a lick of paint but nothing to put one off booking a stay.

Great location and the added bonus of a free parking permit.

The quality of breakfast was poor in terms of the size of the hotel. I ordered scrambled eggs which I think were made with one egg and the Salmon was tasteless.

We found the staff friendly and helpful. The food was excellent with good choice and if you didn't feel like a formal meal there was a wide menu in the Wine Bar. Although we did not take our dog, we liked the fact that dogs were welcome in the hotel. We will take her next time.

We could find nothing not to like.

Very pleasent hotel right in the centre of Buxton and next to the opera house. Very friendly staff serving top quality breakfast. Sadly we only stayed one night but would use the hotel again at our next visit.

It seems that you can't reserve a parking space - we got one just outside but we may have been lucky.

History, location, staff were excellent, value for money, breakfast, great place to use as a base to explore the Peak District, loved the atmosphere.

Nothing really. The room was a little small & the lift was tiny & slow but those are only minor niggles.
