Wifi not strong
A couple of staff members were nice but the rest looked miserable and like it was an inconvenience to deal with us. radiator was broken and wouldn't turn off so had to have windows open all night as too hot, plus heating system very noisy and kept us awake. Not a restful stay at all.
A basic but friendly hotel in the middle of the town provided an ideal base to explore the Cotswolds.
The location was good, right in the middle of Bourton on the Water. Very good breakfast and the Manager was understanding and didn't hesitate not to charge for the room after I explained the terrible night I'd had.
Main problem was the very noisy plumbing which kept me awake most of the night. Also the cleanliness of the room and bathroom was poor
The location is excellent
The bed was too soft No television signal so without television for the duration of our 2 night stay Mould in the bathroom Not able to control the temperature of the room
The location was very pleasant ,I paid 45 pounds which was value for money considering that the breakfast was good.
I had a room in the annex, which certainly reflected the price that I was charged. I would direct my criticism at Green King senior management and not the hotel staff. So, the room was scruffy, the smell from the enterence area was unpleasant and the small roof window above the bed would not close properly. Add to this the fact there was no hot water for a shower morning or evening and the room was inadequately heated by a small outdated storage heat,it all proved to be an unpleasant stay one that I will not be repeating. Take note Green King directors, this Canadian is not happy with your product.
I liked the layout of the room it was quirky. And the staff were nice and good location in the centre. Quiet once te neighbours shut up.
It wasn't very well maintained. The bathroom had cracks and dirt. I found a long thick black hair in the bed which is not acceptable. And the whole annex smelt very bad. Musty cigarette smells in the room and corridor. My clothes stank when I left. We could smell weed from the surrounding buildings so I suggest if you want to keep letting people stay in the annex you sort the smell out or somehow figure out how to stop the next door neighbours drug habit affect the guests rooms. I disnt sleep well as I was keen to get out the next morning as I felt I couldn't breathe. The wifi and tv signal was bad. Reasonable at 45 a night but I wouldn't want to stay in that bit again because of the weed/ cigarette/ musty smell everywhere. Wouldn't mind a refund to be honest.
Mainly the local area
We found the hotel very easily and were delighted with the free parking, The staff were most helpful and our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and everything worked!
The ground floor was a little in need of tlc. Décor needed sprucing up as did the furnishings. The food was only adequate. We had a couple of evening meals, and were not impressed with either.
Fantastic breakfast choice, very comfortable bed, warm in every part of the hotel. Great position in the center of the most picturesque cotswold village.
Toilets in the bar/restaurant were out of order for the duration of our stay. Bathrooms are a bit old and could do with a makeover
Very welcoming staff perfect location, fabulous weekend
Fantastic location within Bourton on the Water and for visiting other local Cotswold towns. Very comfortable hotel serving good food. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel has a small car park.
WI-FI is served by The Cloud which is not very effective - only a small thing for me as I don't use the internet much but it may be more of a problem for some people.
Bourton on the Water is a good venue
Being deceived on the room / the ambience of hotel (i.e. our night was a 'live music' night until 11pm--and immediately under our room--the lack of cleanliness/and very poor plumbing. We were given a rebate.
Location. Good breakfast
Excessive noise in Room 10 due to the very close proximity of the kitchen fan. This noise eventually stopped at 9pm in the evening. We were woken up at 6.45am the following morning when the fan was turned on again for cooking breakfast.
Has a really nice feel to this place and great character. Loved stating here. Food great. Staff friendly. Had live band on which great
We stayed in the anic which was really quaint. With having a disability and end up in pain of cold. Only thing would mention is that there was one radiator which didn't let lot of heat out and one blow out heater that went of after 10mins and took quite some time to come on so was to cold for me but this didn't affect are stay. Really enjoyed it and would love to come back
Location, car parking,
Although we had a superior room there was nothing superior about it, bathroom was dirty, cooked breakfast was very poor. Staff were pleasant enough but we expected more from the hotel.
The bed was very comfortable in the Superior rooms, the room was clean & good size. The location is great. Dinner & Breakfast was excellent. Staff were very helpful.
The bathroom in our room was a let down not very clean dirty shower curtain and net curtain which had tear in it.fan in bathroom did not work if you had hating on in bathroom you could not sleep very noise. In need of a refurbishment. Wi-fi did not work
Very tired condition expected more for price Staff very thin on the ground
Good location with parking. Room was warm, nice on a cold day.
Staff were fictional but no really customer service experience. Hoovering around breakfast was less than impressive.... An open fire is crying out in the main bar... Rooms need some paint.
Booked this lovely Hotel on the internet. Check in was good, we went up to the room with first impressions that it was smaller than expected! We popped down to reception and had a word with Gemma, she was so kind when we asked if there was a larger room available. Gemma showed us to another room which had a view to the front we loved it. This Hotel is very old and quirky with lots of stories to be told I'm sure! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, with Gemma in particular making it extra special. The location is great, would definitely recommend to anyone looking at visiting the Cotswolds. Regards Paul & Trudi
Great reception staff- warm and friendly; excellent location in the village and close to everything; small and cosy;good breakfast; can park car out the back
Could hear bar music/ noise from my room, but it went quiet promptly at closing time. Car parking is cramped and difficult to get in and out
Beautiful location in the village. Dinner was excellent. Staff were helpful
In need of even a basic refurbishment. Toilets need upgrading. Carpets in annex appear loose. My wife and my son's girlfriend both slipped down the stairs, each in separate rooms. They need re-stretching or replacing.
The location is excellent and the building has lots of character, the staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is good value for money in a very popular tourist destination. Breakfast is freshly cooked and plentiful.
Rooms are tired which would be fine but are also dirty. The food in the restaurant varies between ok and very poor. We had one of our worst meals ever on the Saturday night but might have expected as much as we witnessed food being sent back the previous evening. Service also seemed very slow. The bar area is small and when busy you can wait quite a while for service.
