It was a cheap place to stay and you got breakfast included which was a bonus The rooms were a bit old the furniture would look better in a70s hotel, if they spent a bit of money on nice furniture this hotel would be a stunner

The views over the river and the gardens were fantastic. This place has real potential, the buildings are lovely and its clear that the present owners are trying to improve the interior decor, which deffinately needs it. The owners were both very accomodating and friendly, checked in early without any probl;ems (first class). Room, could have been cleaner, breakfast could have been better.

location and price. good location, for those that moan about the noise of the river i think the name of the hotel gives you a clue . Room was cold on arrival and we could have been told to turn on the radiators when we got to the room, however once turned on at the thermostat controls the room soon warmed up. not a 5 star hotel and could do with freshening up with a lick of paint.

The inclusive breakfast was excellent and the room very comfortable. Although there was tea and coffee making facilities, there was no soap at all, and no shampoo. The television had very poor reception so limited channels available. The two gentlemen who were on duty were friendly, The hotel appears to be undergoing some renovation which it does need. On a very rainy monday night mid December it could have been a lot worse.Good value.

Absolutely nothing, it was dreadful. When we arrived at the sign for Old Mill Hotel the road was closed and not knowing the area spent 30 minutes trying to find it.On arrival we were given our room key and I was rather shocked when we walked in as the walls all had cracks in them and it looked like the thick red paint on the woodchip wallpaper was all that was holding them up. Went into the bathroom to freshen up and found that there was no soap or shampoo. We decided to go down to the bar for a drink and wait for our taxi, no joy, because we were the only couple in this so called hotel the bar was closed, just as well we were going to a party or we would have been stuck in that dreadful room all night. In the morning we went down for "breakfast" we were told to help ourselves to tea, coffee, juice, cereal and toast. We had no cups and the toaster didn't work so we had to sit and wait for the guys return with our half cooked breakfast, black pudding with the blood in full view, my husband is a chef so apart from the cold plates you can imagine his horror at the black pudding. By now we are feeling really miserable and feel conned and just can't wait to leave. No wonder there was no-one else in the hotel, obviously word had spread at how bad it is. I am so angry and feel a refund is due.

Hotel setting very attractive if guests are staying long enough to appreciate the tranquility. The owner/manager was very helpful. From the description of the hotel, we were expecting accommodation to have been better. It is plainly more suited to contract workers, and although adequate, room standards were below what we expected - prime example - no bedside lamps. Given some tlc this hotel has potential to be a very attractive choice - the setting itself is very relaxing if you have time to sit and enjoy

The location beside a waterfall/river was beautiful. I am sure the hotel has been of good quality in the past and could be again with significant thought and investment. The hotel is in need of a good clean and refurbishment and enforcment of the smoking ban. We could not get a 2 pin adaptor or socket for electric toothbrush. we did not stayfor the full time booked as needed to move to more suitable accomodation.

Staff were very friendly Because it rained it was very evident that the maintenance of room 7 window had not been sufficient. The Manager was aware of this problem before I mentioned it. He hadn't banked on the weather being inclement.

Loved the location. Bed was very comfortable and breakfast was very good. Loved the quaintness of the dining room. Staff was friendly and helpful Guests in next room very noisy not the fault of the hotel tho. One morning plate was cold and therefore breakfast was on the cool side. Next morning was different as the plate was warmed up.

I was looking for a location where I could relax after a busy few weeks before heading back to London and the Old Mill filled that need, liked the sound of water outside my room and the history of the place. The walks along the River Calder were interesting and picturesque. Walking distance to Railway and shops.
