Old Rectory HotelLowe Hill Road, SY4 5UA Wem (Show map) Excellent, Score from 50 reviews“Our room was lovely, clean and spacious. Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I even had my Birthday cake delivered to the breakfast table.”

The restful, friendly atmosphere of this beautiful Georgian house sweeps you away immediately. As you enter the Old Rectory hotel through the Georgian pillars you are greeted with a beautiful staircase. The traditional wooden bar, with its tapestries, styled interiors and pine floors, is a perfect place to hang out with old and new friends over a drink. The tranquil drawing room invites you to sit and relax while enjoying views of the well-kept grounds and historic architecture that surrounds you. During the winter months an open log fire welcomes you. The warm and enticing restaurant offers freshly prepared traditional cuisine with an international flare. The sun room overlooks the beautiful grounds with an abundance of flowers, fruit trees and an original folly. All 14 bedrooms have private bathrooms and are individually decorated with their own shape, size and character. The rooms are named after the rectors of Wem, and a brief history guide is found in each of the rooms. Hotel Rooms: 14

It was hidden away but still close to the centre of Wem - the town facilities were within an easy walk from the hotel.

Friendly helpful staff. Good car parking. Pleasant grounds. Excellent decor in general public areas. Very cold room ( half corona room ) - extra free standing radiator was placed in room compromising space in room. Main course ala carte below expectations .However this would not rule out the possibility of us eating there again

Service was friendly and attentive but not overbearing Food was good We went on a special offer of £70 per night for 2 b and b which was excellent value for money In good location for visiting many aspects of shropshire ..town and country It would have been good to have the open fire lit music...for christmas on a loop that needed to be changed more often

The Old Rectory was comfortable, welcoming and friendly and in a good location for different kinds of activities. There is no lift so one of our party, with mobility problems, struggled to get upstairs. We thought the wine was over-priced and, in two cases we were over-charged. However, we discovered this too late to cjallenge the bill.

Friendly despite us being (apart from single man) only people there.... Chef provided a good dinner and breakfast and we were not made to feel "in the way". None of the above words by the way apply to your hotel atall...can't understand the reason for using them... Hope one day you turn it into a really luxurious place.... You are some of the way there with that interesting "ladies" Too many plastic flowers, even dead flowers in the lobby... Perhaps it ws the damp weather but the grounds looked rather neglected....it is the sort of place that is nearly very very good...but not yet quite......here and there shabby.....

A very picturesque, sophisticated, clean hotel with very well-kept gardens and polite, attentive staff. The Bridal Suite made an excellent family room for a couple and a two-year-old stopping off on a quiet Monday evening. We were offered a newspaper - which was waiting outside our door in the morning - and an alarm call. There were no surprise hidden charges above the rate quoted by booking.com. Very pleased and will return.

Attention from the maitre d' was exceptional. Food was excellent. Rooms v comfortable The grounds were in need of attention. Flower beds were patchy and rather dull in parts. This was a pity as the potential is great.

Very comfortable - room was spacious, and nothing too much trouble for the staff. Intrusive piped "background" music - not conducive with the elegance and ambience of the hotel. If music has to be there, then perhaps light piano music, at a much lower volume would be more suitable.

Very quiet. Spacious, well furnished public rooms. Pleasant grounds. Beautiful decor. Very clean throughout. Plenty of parking space. Friendly staff. Our room, described as 'cosy', was in fact very cramped, although well equiped and nicely decorated etc.

We arrived late, but they kept the restaurant open so that we could have an evening meal - a great start! We had to leave early on each of the days that we were staying and missed their delicious cooked breakfast, but they delivered an excellent continental breakfast to our room at no extra charge at 06:00 each morning, that's service for you - Well done!!

The hotel was set in lovely grounds surrounded by beautiful countryside, just outside the small market town of Wem.The rooms were tastefully decorated and the furniture blended in to the country house feel of the lovely old rectory.Friendly staff and excellent food made it an ideal venue for a relaxing weekend break away.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ternhill Farm. It was a perfect location for us, we spent time shopping at the Potteries in Stoke on Trent, an evening in Whitchurch with friends and then to Ternhill for a very comfortable night. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast which we were able to pre order enabling us to get away promptly. So, we liked the location, loved the decor, thoroughly enjoyed the food, and found the Staff very friendly. We would definitely like to stay there again. All in all a first class Venue which we would thoroughly recommend.” Claire, Crowborough |
