Score from 104 reviews Excellent
The friendly helpful staff
Not a lot to not like but there was a bit of noise from the rooms next door
The owner was so friendly and the breakfast was amazing. We all slept really well and the kids enjoyed it so much.
Room was lovely but a bit tired looking.
Friendly staff Good parking Family restaurants close by Easy access to Alton Towers (15 mins) Great breakfast
Rooms decoration was a little shabby
Very friendly and obliging staff, good breakfast.Nice location with ample car parking. Would use again.
easy parking ,friendly staff, well kept flower garden, good breakfast.
the wi fi didnt work in our bedroom
Some parts of the B&B were a bit dated, but it was comfortable, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was fantastic.
Friendly welcome and accomodating staff towards my 5 year old for breakfast and room. Room comfortable.
Staff were lovely and welcoming, rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious. Breakfast in the morning...yum!!
The tv was good and had a built in dvd. WiFi excellent. Near to town .
Oh dear. We were given little shacks outside of the main hotel. Damp. Wallpaper coming off wall. To enter the bathroom had to squeeze in and shift up to close door. Good job we are thin as any one over a size 14 would not be able to use the shower. At breakfast do not have the baked beans.
Very comfy Lovely breakfast Excellent surroundings
Lovely family run & friendly staff. Quaint hotel very nice experience every time
Comfy bed, great cooked breakfast, plenty of parking, good location for racecourse & train station, no probs at all.
What's not to like!
Dated bedrooms. (stayed in the annex) Breakfast finished at 8.30am. weekday.
Room side big and spacious, options of bed good. Friendly helpful staff at all points of our stay. Breakfast good.
Cobwebs above bed.
For an over night say on a trip to Alton Towers the guest house was perfect. Good location with parking, friendly staff, great family bedroom & excellent breakfast selection.
Friendly staff. Clean comfortable room. Great food If racing is your thing then it's only a 5 minute walk to Uttoxeter racecourse. Also opposite a large Tesco and retail park and 2 minutes walk to town centre. The spa looks lovely and will be definitely be back.
Family room is in the attic and the stairs are narrow and steep but that is only a very small niggle and was not really an issue for us.
The beatuiful flowers all around the car park, the closeness to the racecourse , good value for the price paid, comfortable beds.
The water was very slow to run out of the shower and the water pressure would change whilst in the shower. Someone needs to lokk at the shower and fix it. This was a pity because it is a very nice place.
good location for horses racing which was the purpose of our visit. staff very pleasant and helpful . good value for price paid.
although room very clean there was a musty smell. Décor a little dated .
just about everything - good breakfast, good room, friendly staff, clean, modern and good location just on the edge of the village square
could do with more notice as to where the parking is as post code leads you to the frount where the road is busy but you have to 'U' turn to get to the back of the premises - not a big deal really
Friendly staff and owners. Lovely breakfast, beautiful outside flowers, clean and tidy. Great value for money.
Decor was in need if modernisation. Didn't know they had a spa.
Stayed at Oldroyd Guest House whilst attending a festival at the racecourse. It is ideal as you can just park your car up and be there in 10 mins by walking via the station footbridge. The staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble including fruit teas. Room was comfortable and well maintained. Would certainly book here again next year and recommend it to my friends.
As stated before wifi was not as strong as it could be. My iPad couldn't even pick it up!
we got a room in an annex off the building which was just enough for the both of us. it wa clean an suitable for are needs. the staff where helpful and the lady even gave us a shout when we overslept for breakfast. jim is very helpful and nothing is to much to ask. had a lovely stay and close to local restaurants and pubs and shopping. alton towers bus stop is a five minute walk and drops you off right outside the park. jims flowers and doves are lovely and it gave it a nice feel to the place.would definitely atay there again.
Good location, off road parking, good breakfast area and full English breakfast. Staff were very friendly and attentive.
Stayed in the attic room- the steps to the room are very steep. The water took more than 10 minutes to get warm and although it was not a problem for us- the shower is too small for a family room.
The reviews and description on Booking.com
This hotel looked great on the website. Sadly I shall never found out how nice it really is, and can only give it zero for everything based on my night 'there'. I booked a night here a month in advance for a visit to Alton Towers with my daughter. I phoned the night before we arrived to check that we indeed had a twin room as I had requested. I am so pleased I did. They had no record of our reservation. They said they'd look into it and phoned me back 15 minutes later. They were very apologetic and said they had found the e-mail from Booking.com the day I'd booked and the reminder sent that day. But for some unknown reason they had not processed the booking! And they were full. So I was left with not much time and not much choice to find another hotel. Sadly I had to spend an extra £20 to get a room for the night (albeit in an excellent hotel)
