Two minutes’ walk from the railway station. Friendly staff, decent room, great value.
A little noisy at night — door opened directly into the car park where other guests come in/out.
Oldroyd Guest House is in the Best Location for the Racecourse and the Town. Owners Staff everything really is in Order. We use it every time we go racing or just to stay in the town. Breakfast is really Nice Rooms are very clean Good Value for the price. Cant Fault it
We love Uttoxeter Day out or a Long Weekend its Great
Friendly staff, great location, comfy bed.
No complaints at all.
The staff were very friendly, spotlessly clean and piping hot good full English,or whatever you chose for breakfast.brilliant location .thanks for a smashing stay.
friendly staff and a warm welcome - literally!
The Heat!, faux wall paper tiles in the bathrooms - lack of general upgrading / decorating for 30 years & the 'Spa' is actually a shed in the car park.
Friendly staff, heating in room and location
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location. Clean rooms. Although room was due a makeover as I left, I understand the decorators were going in that morning :)
WiFi was not good in the room.
Close to town
a bit pricey
Food. beds room decorations
We liked everything the guest house is in an excellent location with lots of facilities very close by and great for Alton Towers. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable and the guest house was great value for money. The staff were lovely this is the second time we have stayed and will be staying here again soon
Staff Location Beautiful local town
Breakfast Noise during the night Nonsensical shower No heating in the room Tired decor
Staff were very helpful throughout our stay,) Clean premises Car parking
Being outside of main guest house. No wife signal. Sink outside bathroom & pipe was a bit smelly. double bed had seen better days and very small, at 5 feet 7 inches I was very surprised my feet hung off the bed. Shame as on previous visits I could not fault the place. TV could be heard from next room which was on all night & shower and toilet was also very small, different to the main guest house.:-(
The proximity to Alton Towers, our destination. Excellent breakfast!
The room could do with an update. But was perfectly clean and comfortable.
Good value b&b, we stayed here before a trip to Alton Towers (excellent location, 15 minutes without traffic) The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was really good. The bed was really comfortable. Handy retail park (KFC, Frankie + Bennys, Tescos) less than a minutes walk away.
Lock on the door was faulty and would struggle to lock / unlock. Stairs by our room were quite noisy and you could hear people walking about - however I would expect this from a number of terraced houses made into a b&b!
Location to the dog show venue we were attending, excellent parking, friendly staff , very good breakfast.
En-suite in room 1 needs upgrading particularly the shower which is very shabby I am a builder and it would'nt cost a fortune to re-do the shower sealing etc
Excellent bed Good breakfast Helpful staff Right next to train station & bus stop
Shower unit was outside the shower and vacillated between hot and cold Narrow Stairs and stayed on 3rd floor
good value for money good location for racecourse and town centre, and very good breakfast.
said my room would be en suite but toilets on landing.not really en suite is it.
Excellent breakfast and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The room was comfortable but a little 'tired' - could do with an up-date.
Very welcoming friendly staff. Lovely breakfast.
The shower didn't work very well, the wire was broke so just trickled out. Room 1 was noisy on a morning.
Warm comfortable clean rooms. Friendly staff Excellent breakfast
The staff member (Jim B I think?) was excellent in advising of late check in procedure when I rang. Room 10 was basic but functional. Good value for money
The downside was the shower/toilet was the next room to the side. This had a musty smell and the shower tray was mouldy.
Good location, huge breakfast, good Wi-Fi, friendly staff.
Lock on door - nearly fallen off. Loo/shower, next door, not en-suite.
Very convenient for the train station, bus stop to Alton Towers, giant Tesco, Racecourse and town centre - all about 2 minutes walk away! Strongly recommended if you are going to Alton Towers without a car. Rooms are clean and well decorated. Breakfast is okay - cooked breakfast and cereal is provided. Owner is very friendly and staff are helpful.
Accommodation is made from converted houses, so room sizes vary (not particularly a bad thing). There is traffic noise over night, but it is not very loud.
Staff were fantastic good service breakfast was out of this world and I would stay again
