Very close to town centre, and buses

The rooms we stayed in, first one was dreadful and 2nd one only slightly better which was a shame because entrance, lobby and bar areas were lovely I can only think that the more you pay the better the room. Was also shocked that we thought we had payed for room when in fact we hadn't, you took card details etc but we had to use a card again on checkout, this should have been pointed out when you sent confirmation

The hotel and rooms in need of upgrade, not worth what we paid, also very noisy of a night from outside until about 4am. This hotel has gradually gone down since we first stayed here 10 years ago

The hotel is clean, spacious, welcoming and warm. It was a nice place wih character, a fantastic breakfast, freindly staff, and a room we were happy to have, and excited to go back to in the evening. Thank you.

The booking did not work well. I booked online, so perhaps there is an issue with the third party website, however the name of the booking came out as my girlfriends, who was listed as tghe second guest, and meant htat the price and details were then discussed before the problem was rectified, which spoiled the moment a little, not to mention increasing one's blood pressure!

We have stayed at the Old Ship several times before as a weekend break for the location and quality of the hotel. On this occasion we chose it to spend our anniversary and when booking online added a comment in the request box that we would be staying for our anniversary. On checking in we were told we had a seaview and on opening the door to our room were not only greeted by a beautiful seaview and lovely room but a chilled bottle of bubbly awaited us - such a nice touch and made our stay even more special, will definitely continue to go back. Windows were dirty. The room was boiling. The floor of boards were very creaky could hear every movement of people above us so very noisey

Breakfast was great. We went mid-week in early January and the hotel was quiet. We liked the fact that we could keep our dog in the room.

Housekeeping did not clean our room even though we told them that we would be out of the hotel with our dog for 3 hours in the morning. This is surprising as there were hardly any guests.

Location

No towels in room despite asking at reception Standard lamp failed to work - despite informing reception net curtains falling down no tissues in box in bathroom Was told on booking that there was parking. This informed my decision to stay. Horrified on being presented with a bill for £23.00 for same

Very central location easy to find,good views from hotel staff very helpful and pleasant,ideal for shopping weekend generally nice place. Good breakfast.

Was not around the hotel long enough to pass comment, but I can confirm the room are very dated, more like 3 star and there was a stain on the chair. Only one lamp worked in the bathroom, and they could not replace ones not working, or change our room. With this in mind we were given a discount.

Location.

The room was dirty. The decor was badly in need of rennovation with paint peeling off the window ledges. The shower rail was three quarters rusted with dirty brown rust marks running into the shower curtain. There was a party downstairs and the music could be heard clearly in our room (on the 4th floor) until 1am, so we got no sleep until then. All very very poor value for £133. We have stayed at the Old Ship a number of times in the past but never again.
