Nice breakfast, new gym, pool, jacuzzi, all facilities are very clean, staff are friendly and helpful, quiet area, good size of room and bathroom, excellent mattress, good sleep, free private parking.Great place to relax. Definitely we will return!
Our room was separated from main building and we had to go outside for breakfast and use facilities but we did not mind because this building was the newest and quietest.
Comfortable and well equipped rooms
Food in Sports bar, very poor.
Cavern was wonderful , spa was amazing
Didn't like being in a desperate building from rest if hotel Especially as we were using the spa and it was pouring with rain so we couldn't walk across in robes and slippers . Sausages at breakfast had a weird taste ,
My wife and I stayed over on Saturday (11th October) and after receiving a treatment, we used the spa and gym. We both loved the way in which the hotel is decorated and agreed that the spa and gym were excellent. However, we were extremely disappointed with the restaurant as there was only the choice of a carvery. This may of be acceptable on a Sunday but not on a Saturday night. We cannot understand how such a wonderful hotel does not offer an al a carte restaurant option. Our table was booked for 8 pm and by 8.45 pm, we had finished both courses and left, feeling somewhat deflated. We were really hoping for a dining experience to end what had been an excellent day. It seems that a carvery is a lazy option, meaning that the hotel does not have to bother employing more catering staff and therefore saving on overheads. Well, unless this situation changes, we certainly won't be staying over night again. On a more minor point, we both ordered a coffee after our meal and was horrified to find that we had been charged a staggering £8.70 for what is essentially two cups of coffee dispensed by a machine. Outrageously expensive. I look forward to receiving your comments. Mike & Tracy Graham
I Liked this hotel very much and would happily stay there again the shower was great wanted to bring it home with me
Bit petty really I don't like herb sausages for breakfast and my lamb was a bit raw for my liking but other than that had a really nice time
The pool, gym and spa area is far superior to many health clubs. Quiet peaceful room in main building. Reasonably priced food and drink
The flashing rotating coloured lights especially in the restaurant - very tacky and annoying and the hideous jazz music loop continually played
Friendly staff, Excellent facilities, Comfort
Having to leave!
The hotel was clean, tidy and had a lovely feel to it, i thought that the sports theme [ pictures on the walls ] of famous sports people was particularly nice. The different bars were also pleasantly decorated and the staff very welcoming. Breakfast was particularly well done, plenty of varied food, very good quality, well cooked and presented. Nice to see freshly cooked eggs, with the yoke ready to be puncured, some places the eggs have been sitting around far too long and end up like solid blobs, YUK!
I though that the price of drinks was a bit steep, i understand that it is an opportunity for you as a company to maximise your profits but there is a limit as to how far you should go. Other than that i really enjoyed everything.
On arrival it looked like a leisure center and we couldn't find the front door! The decor was awful- penguins, chinese soldiers, Buddhas, glitter-balls, golf photos, Audrey Hepburn, flashing coloured lights, stone teddy bears, knights in armour_ No theme or taste at all but it did give us a laugh. PS the food was dreadful- the steaks were grey and tough and breakfast was limp and greasy!!!
Great room + bed size, nice bathroom and fab leisure facilities.
Staff in the Sport's Bar not very attentive to customer service, meal in Sport's Bar was ordinary. Breakfast buffet cooked items were cold at 9.30am, despite breakfast being served until 10am.
Me and my husband loved it and will be comin back
We had a lovely stay in this hotel. A Large room which was ideal for us long distance travellers with lots of luggage. Only comment is Would definately stay again. Beautiful surroundings and don't miss the pub for dinner - The Deers at top of Old Thorns driveway.
No arrangements for gluten free at breakfast though dinner was good - they made me a gluten free gravy.
Superb Gym, Pool & Leisure Suite Friendly well presented staff
Limited Menu on the Saturday Evening in the Brasserie Restaurant. A tacky eclectic mix of decorative ornamental objects in places.
Enjoyed everything, food, spa, hotel room
Situation and facilities
Very loud music, although had requested a quiet room, noisy neighbours at 2.45am. Sunday night better than Saturday
No rental of clubs for driving range
The FOH and bar team were exceptional, well done Old Thorns for training them to such a high standard. The standard of food was excellent, we spent our afternoon reading the newspapers and enjoying our peace and quiet in the large armchairs by the sports bar. Great atmosphere! The leisure facilities are one of the best i have experienced and we will be back again on another anniversary.
There is a mature lady in the dining room who needs to possibly soften her approach. I felt like I was being told off when all that I wanted was to be taken to a table - very brash attitude. My door was opened whilst i was getting ready for Breakfast - i did leave a comment card with the reception, I wouldn't have normally minded but I was getting dressed and my husband had just got out of the shower. The rooms on the lower floor near the pool need attention and updating - the bathroom needs a refurbishment.
No sockets by a mirror for hair dryer or a light to see in the mirror when doing hair/makeup
Great location, lovely food. Very relaxing.
excellent spa with good size pool clean and well maintained good size bedroom quiet at night good setting friendly staff free parking
the only sugestion I can think of is provide a coffee pot with breakfast rather than having for ask for refill
We absolutely loved this Hotel. We were only booked in for one night but will definately go back for more. We ate in the sports bar and found the prices very good for a 4 star hotel. The accomodation was lovely, big room and super king size bed, what more could you want!
no air conditioning
everything about the hotel was excellent, food comfort and location.
Unfortunately there was a wedding on the first night we stayed - Saturday night - and this was a bit noisy and people banging doors and shouting late into the night. It did make quite a poor night's sleep.
