This hotel was located in an excellent location with lovely views over the countryside and golf course. One of the nicest hotels I've ever had the privilege to stay in and it was excellent value for money. I was really made to feel welcome by the helpful and efficient staff. It also had one of the largest hotel swimming pools I have ever seen.

Welcoming staff at Reception./ Assistance of all the staff./ Extremely comfortable bed and bedroom furniture./ Pleasant & helpful restaurant staff./Plentiful car parking./ By no means last, the assistance, helpfulness, courteousness, politeness and patience displayed by Karen Meehan when my wife and I needed it, due to outside worrying circumstances prior to our departure.

Had a family reception at Old Thorns Manor hotel. The staff were always ready to assist with anything we wanted. Our room was immaculately clean. At breakfast all staff was totally attentive. Refilling our cups was always met with a dutiful smile. On the second night of our stay our Grandson was very unwell with a stomach bug.We informed reception that we needed some things for cleaning the room. No trouble they sent over a housekeeper to clean it for us.Very impressed with all areas of our stay and would definately recommend this hotel to others.

I was there as a wedding guest. The hotel seemed to handle the wedding arrangements very well. The bedroom was comfortable and a good size. Food was good. Service was friendly and efficient. It will be better when it is finished and the builders have moved out. Not much of a choice of beer in the bars; lots of lagers but not everyone wants that.

Long leads on the irons. Not much choice food wise. Carvery or fry ups seems to be the only choice.

Spa facilities, good breakfast with helpful staff at breakfast time We arrived @ 2130 on friday 25th, the receptionist came across as disinterested and negative, there was no explanation about facilities, times of breakfast or even a smile. The sheets on our bed were stained and the wall paper in our bedroom was peeling. The music from the bar was exceptionally loud, there was a wedding that night and the music went on until 1am at full volume despite complaints from manu guests. I would not stay at your hotel again or recommend it to others

The site of the hotel is very country and pleasant. Huge well spaced car park. Nice, convenient Reception area. All Staff encountered pleasant and professional. Room (Superior) excellent with a wonderfully comfortable bed (Queen size). Bathroom excellent with all facilities in working order. Food in restaurant excellent - the Carvery particularly liked. Breakfast good and efficient. Noisy door closers - or rather the people who always let them bang - a problem of most hotels. This hotel is still being refurbished which can be a little annoying but inevitable these days. Not enough mixed fruit at the breakfast bar.

It had a lovely atmosphere and my parents absolutely loved it. The building itself was brilliantly decorated and the location couldn't be better for a family who wants to see the beautiful countryside of Hampshire! Only one downside was that an extra breakfast for visitors cost £15, which wasn't worth it. Otherwise the stay at Old Thorns was very nice.

We were at Old Thorns for a wedding, food fantastic as was the service, Old Thorns is a beautiful place, only got one moan and that is trivial, more toilet paper in rooms, no spare in bathroom cupboard. Our experience was lovely we had a great weekend at Old Thorns. Only one and that is not really a complaint, Bacon and eggs could of been hotter, bacon was cold.

We only stayed for 1 night and did not have much time to explore the facilities - we had limited experience of the hotel and its environs. We stayed at the hotel on a quiet Monday night - staff were very courteous and helpful I did not like the tv on the wall above the entrance to the the dining room. It seemed an inappropriate place to have it.

Good facilities, well maintained hotel with nice staff. Would only stay at the reduced rate I got through Booking.com, the full room rate is too expensive for the hotel.

Our room was very comfortable and clean, if rather dark (the bulb had gone in the standard lamp and there was only one bedside lamp in the double room). The food was of a good average standard. We were there for a wedding which was very well organised and the staff were efficient, charming and helpful throughout the ceremony, the meal and the evening disco. The grounds are beautifully maintained and made a good backdrop for the wedding photographs. I had telephoned the previous day to request an early check in as we had a long journey and needed to change for the wedding. The receptionist I spoke to said she would put a note on our booking to this effect and assured me that if our room was not ready there would be a changing room available. On arrival it was obvious that they had not noted our request at all and we had to use the changing room. At no point did they tell us that it was actually the golfers' locker room and we had to trail all our luggage halfway across the hotel and through a bar to find it. When we finally found it, having had to ask several bemused staff on the way, there was a keypad on the door and we had to go back to reception to find the number to get in. This was not a good experience and we felt angry and stressed by the time we were ready, after which we had to take our luggage back to the other side of the hotel where our room was. The final irony was that our friends, who checked in at the same time as us (around 12.30 pm) but who had not requested an early check-in were able to go to their room straightaway!

The staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. The design and decor of the hotel was very plush and comfortable. The food was excellent with plenty of choice and a good wine list. My only complaint was the lighting In the room. It was very dim and not bright enough to read by at night.

“An excellent hotel, location. Staff could not be more helpful. My wife and I wanted a weekend to celebrate our anniversary and this was ideal. Food very good, and thought prices reasonable, unlike other comments, varies wine list with bottles upwards of £17. Grounds and facilities perfect. We likes the opportunity to stay on after checkout for lunch and even afternoon tea and still had use of facilitie Would return abd recommend” Trevor, Billericay |
