Best Western Old Tollgate Hotel & Restaurant  

The character of the building and location village , castle etc.

Extremely friendly and efficient staff - clearly very well trained and motivated. Comfortable matress, well-appointed bedroom (good lighting, toiletries, etc). Easy to find.

Carvery catering (or alternative of bog-standard bar food) may not suit all visitors.

Breakfast was excellent. Sorted an ironing board and iron out within minutes despite asking very late in the evening. Friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. 10 mins from Shoreham train station so day trips to London were easy (about an hour). I would definately stay there again.

We mentioned the room was noisy and were moved to a more convenient room, food was amazing I could not fault it. And plenty of it.

Staff attitude to every request (all stass) and their friendliness and helpfulness; excellent dinner and breakfast, masses of real choice especially for vegetarians; comfortable and well equipped , quiet rooms with space for work, relaxation and sleep; lovely setting, lovely old building, sympathetically extended - everything about it. really!

The fact that our timetable meant we could only stay one night!

Dinner buffet on 2nd day was the same as on the 1st. Poor winelist not a single English wine, rather expensive with medium to poor quality!

The service by staff in the restaurant and bar is excellent, our room was clean and comfortable and the food is of a high standard, plenty of parking spaces and a good wi fi connection. All reasonably priced. Another pleasant stay.

Room 104 was cold at night. Heating inefficient for room

the hotel was clean & tidy. there was plenty of car parking. The restaurant was very good. Good choice of food & plenty of it. The staff was friendly & efficient. Our room was large and very comfortable. It was in a separate building so nice & quiet.

Although the towels in the bathroom were nice and white, they smelled. They had not been rinsed properly.

My room was great. Ended up with a four poster bed and a spa bath.

No real lounge for the business traveller to relax

Breakfast choice, layout and staff. Location. Choice of places to eat nearby if you didn't want to eat in restaurant. Proactive approach to reporting maintenance issues.

Connecting door to adjacent room as could hear conversations of the occupants. On checkout wasn't asked if I enjoyed my stay.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with everything we asked. The kids had a great stay and want to stay with Best Western again!

Country setting and old building, with lovely room. Food wonderful.

Lovely breakfast, you could help yourself to as little or much as you like. Quick check in and out and staff very helpful when asked.

I was on crutches for stay and struggled with stairs and using bathroom, would have been nice for this to be recognised when I checked in and room changed if possible.
