Just 25 minutes south of York on the A19, the Old Vicarage, with en suite rooms, large gardens and private parking, is only 1 mile from exit 34 of the M62. 10 minutes from Selby. The Old Vicarage is a beautifully furnished house on the edge of the village, overlooking the fields and the ancient church. Just off the M62 motorway and A19 road, the Old Vicarage has easy access to York, Hull, Leeds, Goole, Selby and Doncaster. Full English breakfast is served overlooking the gardens, while local pubs offer excellent evening meals. There is a meeting room available. With lots of free parking, the Vicarage is an easy drive from the racecourses at York and Pontefract. When visiting York you can easily avoid parking problems by leaving your car at the McArthur Glen stores (where the A19 crosses the A64) and take the 'Park & Ride' bus into the city. Verry nice country village, so near to the M62 but do not notice it. Very handy for Pontefract, also visited country estate of Castle Howard. Very friendly staff, we had a room overlooking the lawn which is very pleasent. Village is limited for evening meals.

Nothing was too much trouble for Christine. She is a delightful lady. The Old Vicarage is and its gardens are charming. We stayed here for our grandson's christening - both sets of grandparents plus our son, daughter-in-law and the baby. It felt like being guests in the beautiful home of a friend rather than in a b &b.

A small hotel just off the main roads, but within 10 mins to major motorways. It met all my expectations and a very pleasant change to the main hotel chains. Pub close buy with satisfactory food, 5-10 mins drive and you have some great gastro-pubs.

The owner Christine is absolutely incredible. She truly cares about each and every guest. My mother was ill and Christine checked on her while I was gone and had food taken up to her. The rooms are delightful and immaculate with every convenience you could require. The town adorable with a pub right around the corner for a great meal.

This was a charming old vicarage nicely decorated. The rooms were cosy but charming and comfortable. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. I will recommend the stay. The area outside of the village is very industrial, but this was well shielded by the building. But the location is good because it is central to the area with good access to many cities and attractions.

On arrival, the welcome I recieved from the landlady, Christine, was very warm and friendly. The room was beautiful and very clean. Breakfast was delicious. The meal at the pub around the corner was very good, and a very good price. I would happily stay there again.

It was very homely. I booked a room at the last minute due to a change of plans. Fed up of impersonal international hotels, I looked for somewhere cosy and with character but also with mod cons, such as free wifi - this place hit the spot! Very comfortable and in a quiet area, the Old Vicarage is a lovely place to stay if you simply want a home away from home, even just for one night. The 'hostess' is also very charming and provided a very friendly breakfast service. I hope to return there one day. You need to remember that it literally is an old vicarage, so expect old fashioned furniture, decor and squeaky floorboards, with each room being unique in such matters. For me, that's character, but I mention it as some people may prefer the solid uniformity and blandness of hotel chains. Location may also concern some with regards to dining-out in the evenings - there's only one place within walking distance and, unless you truly only want a pint, it's to be avoided! There are good places just a short drive away, with details as to all such places provided in the rooms.

We were made very welcome by Christine and all the staff. We chose a superior room (5) and were not disappointed it was large airy and comfortable with a double aspect. Whilst it was not in the immediate vicinity a short drive to the park and ride made accessing York easy therefore avoiding the traffic and the inevitable high parking charges. Would not hesitate to book in their again.

We arrived weary after a long days business to a very warm welcome. The house is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Like many others we chose to eat at the local pub (far too much food) so enjoyed the five minute walk home. Though our room was on the roadside we had a very quiet night and rose to a hearty breakfast. I'd recomend anyone to stay in The Vicarage. I have read the comments about the cooling towers and on approach thought we would be near them but actually they are a distance away.
