“The Old Vicarage is a most devine place to stay, the proprieter (Christine) is charm personified, the whole experience was one to savour and we will most certainly return. I cannot recommend it highly enough.”
Bill,
Falkirk
Just 25 minutes south of York on highway A19, the Old Vicarage, with rooms with private bathrooms, large grounds and private parking, is only one mile from exit 34 off highway M62. It is 10 minutes from Selby. The Old Vicarage is a beautifully furnished house on the edge of the village, overlooking the fields and the ancient church. Just off highway M62 and route A19, the Old Vicarage has easy access to York, Hull, Leeds, Goole, Selby and Doncaster. Full English breakfast is served overlooking the grounds, while local pubs offer excellent evening meals. There is a meeting room available. With lots of free parking, the Vicarage is an easy drive from the racecourses at York and Pontefract. When visiting York you can easily avoid parking problems by leaving your car at the McArthur Glen stores (where route A19 crosses route A64) and take the 'Park & Ride' bus into the city. Hotel Rooms: 10, Hotel Chain: Recommended Hotels. Most recent booking for this hotel was yesterday at 07:38 from Belgium.

A very friendly and comfortable hotel unfortunately marred by a not so good meal at the local public house, would stay at the Old Vicarage anytime.

This was a very comfortable guest house with a friendly and very obliging lady owner. The garden was very pretty and the location was lovely and quet. There's a great pub up the road (the small one), no food but really hopping and welcoming - we went for a quick pint and stayed all evening. There was nothing we actually didn't like but we would have really appreciated a more varied breakfast, we had it four times and were pretty jaded by then.

Very good b&B. Very Agatha Christie. Good off road parking. The owner was very friendly. Sausages weren't up to much, but the very warm welcome more than compensated.

This hotel is an oasis of class and beauty in a rather industrial part of the country. The house and gardens are beautiful and has genuine 18th century features (window seats, beams, open fireplaces etc) but with 21st century touches (flat screen freesat TV's, free wifi, all rooms ensuite). It is spotlessley clean and the lady owner does all she can to make your stay a real pleasure. Great breakfast provided too in the cost of the room. Quiet location but easy road access to Selby and York and all towns in between. Would definitely stay again when next in the area.

It is not a Hotel but a quality Bed and Breakfast. Attractive building in nice grounds. Well run, friendly, and comfortable. Price is right overall. Furnished in a style which suited us well but not in a modern way. But the furnishings suited the building, parts of which I believe date back to the 1700 hundreds. You might have to ask about stairs and in our bedroom the ensuite was down half a dozen steps which would not suit everyone. A ground floor room might be advisable.

A lovely old large building the staff and owner where friendly and helpful.Superior room large and the seating area was welcome to relax in. The bed in the superior room we stayed in needs a king size bed it is a double that dosent compliment the size of the room .Thr double bed was soft and not comfotable . No rodes in the room as advertised.

Lovely old building, very spacious & well decorated rooms. Excellent friendly atmosphere with good breakfasts. Location could be better, village is certainly not "picture box". Food in local pubs very "iffy" unless you like chips.

Perfect if you are looking for old English decor, from window curtain to teapot and cups. Nice little garden to afford a relaxed afternoon tea. Quietly located but conveniently accessible. Christine, the most friendly hostess you may have ever seen, would care about even your family members at home. The room is a little bit small but is fine for us.

I really enjoyed staying at the Old Vicarage, the management and staff were excellent and very helpfull. I stayed there to visit York and it was a littke further from there than I thought but using Park and Ride facilities at the Outlet Mall everything work out well.

Comfortable bed, good breakfast and pleasant owner and staff. However, we chose it for its handy location for Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Barbara Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield. Avoid the nearby Red Lion pub. The only place for dinner near the Old Vicarage is the Kellington Manor (formerly known as the Treetops) which serves a reasonable, basic menu in enormous helpings.

Beautiful comfortable rooms, lovely large garden and even though pets are not allowed, I had no choice but to bring my dog (who sleeps in the jeep when we travel) and there was no problem with her having a run in the garden. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere and they could not do enough to make us welcome.
