Great location, staff very helpful and friendly
Breakfast could have better, toaster not very good. Decor a little dated although work was going on in painting while we were there
Noise from building being demolished immediately behind the hotel.
Efficient friendly staff, meals available all day, comfortable sitting area.
Only one lift, and always busy, we could use stairs but some people too infirm and needed lift
rooms were extremely warm even with windows open. Noise from traffic and construction very disturbing
Good location for our stay for the tattoo . staff very helpful good food will stay again next
Bathroom Room size
LOUD demolition of the building 15 meters to the north, right outside our windows, starting at 05:30. Flight of stairs down, immediately upon entering to room. Odd, and a little hazardous in the dark.
It's in a very convenient position on Princes St, close to the Castle and walking distance from railway station. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Even with a lift, you still have to cope with a few stairs, which can make it difficult to handle luggage. Our room had no outside window, just into an internal light well. Made it very dark. We were only staying one night, so it didn't matter.
my bedroom had a great view but i could not sleep , windows need repair, is too noisy from outside, you can hear everything!!! ..buses, people talking , noisy noisy!!, breakfast not very good , and not too many choices!!
On the main street - Princes Street so ideal for all the theatres I was visiting.
Noisy due to building work at the back. the staff were very apologetic and hopefully it will be finished by 2015.
Location is perfect. I had a room looking right onto Princes Street Gardens. The room was very spacious, and luxuriously decorated. The Hotel was happy to store my luggage after check out, so I could spend more time in the city.
The lighting in the bathroom was a bit dark, which made it difficult to see when I was shaving.
great location, friendly staff and a very comfortable room with views over princes street.
Good room size for a standard room. Room was clean and cosy with a good tv and nice seating area with Princes Street view. Bathroom was clean and attractive with an excellent shower and bath. The bed was just a standard double but it was very comfortable. All the staff were pleasant and polite, especially the dining room staff who gave a cheerful welcome at breakfast. A most enjoyable stay.
Central location, and nice hotel.
Major demolition works going on from 5am behind the hotel. Get a room at the front of the hotel if you want to sleep!
It was centrel
The staffs served for breakfast were extremely poor.
Location. Bar and restaurant if needed.
Steps. A porter to help with luggage would help to make up for not having a lift from ground floor.
rooms were fantastic size for family, food excellent
Breakfast and location.
Old carpet everywhere. It is quite old building requiring renovation.
Location, staff, facilities,
Blockout curtains would be a good idea.
fantastic location great views of Princess Street and the Castle and the famous shopping stores nearby. Excellent reception service and very good food.
Small rooms, no place to put clothing. Most of all you have to pay for internet
Unfortunately heavy drilling started early morning in next door building site which I think staff could have mentioned!
Location was excellent - near the tour buses, tourist office, shops, gardens etc Breakfast was good. Reasonable choice of bar food at reasonable prices
Room didn't have a window that you could see out of. No drawers in the room for putting underwear, t-shirts etc - only small amount of hanging space.
Good location. Clean room with steps inside. Bathroom was clean too.
The most expensive hotel was a great disappointment for all five trips to Scotland. The breakfast was very very poor! Outside the window during the day workers destroyed the old building. It was noisy and dusty. There were problems with unloading things from the car. Payment is actually removed twice: blocked before settling and removed on the day of departure. We are faced in these rules for the first time and it was an unpleasant surprise. Also there was another Deposit of 25 pounds.
