Great wknd away for two 40somethings. Got the room we requested as we have stayed here before. Excellent food, staff etc. Defo recommend for central location x
Bed was two singles shoved together...not ideal for a 'special' wknd break. The lift is very small and sometimes you have to wait ages on it coming. Don't let any of this put you off tho, just be aware x
Hotel was clean beds comfortable evening meal and breakfast was good quality and staff very polite
Service was excellent
Very clean and friendly, comfy bed and great room will be staying again soon
Our room overlooked a building site that started work from 6.30am!!!! so much for a lie in!! but sure this wont be forever
The Scottish style
Wifi is not working properly
The hotel is in thd most central location. Just in thd middle of town and very close to the train station. Room was very nice. And its a fancy hotel at a very reasonable price. Good helpful staff.
The noise from Princes street wax very disturbing. No breakfest included in thd room price.
Good location near to the station
Very noisy during the night and early hours of the morning so couldn't sleep with the window open. Breakfast was very average
Location great. Near all the shops and close to Calton Hill and Royal Mile/Castle.
Needs renovating. Decor tired. No radiators only a fan heater. Room looked onto building sight and you could hear this from morning time. Great for short term stay though and I would book again.
The view from our room on the 6th floor was wonderful - Scott Monument - Arthurs Seat - Castle - Old Town and Princes Street. The only thing we couldn't see was Calton Hill.
The catches on the windows needed a wee bit of attention. The only thing we really didn't like was leaving!
Friendly staff. Excellent location. Value for money when booked through this site. Wouldnt pay the direct price.
Bed not very big and could be more comfortable. Some outside noise on 1st floor room.
Excellent location within 5 minutes walk from Waverley Station. Close to the new tram stops so took the opportunity to 'ride on the tram' as far as the airport and back. Fabulous view from the room window of the Scott Monument, the Castle and up to the Royal Mile. The staff were exceptionally helpful and we could leave our luggage on Sunday morning until closer to our train time. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were attentive. The location made our stay into a 'perfect weekend' as we could walk to restaurants and bars without having to pay for taxis.
Princes Street was noisy at night which we didn't mind as we wanted a central location to stay in to enjoy the buzz of the City but might not suit everyone, especially if you have a room on the lower floors of the hotel.
Room was excellent overlooking Princes Street very clean and spacious, was ideal hotel for two friends travelling to see a show we had food in the bar which good and breakfast was nice.
Location and ambience were great
Wifi kicked out constantly
The hotel is central for shopping. Staff very friendly. food was nice and bedroom spacious and bed comfortable.
Location, good staff, excellent breakfast
Speedy check in - very poilte staff. Excellent location. Room overlooking princes street. Well presented breakfast with a good choice of menu. Very comfortable ensuite room.
Not much to dislike about the waverely. Except access for disabled people could be better. No lift from the entrance upstairs to reception.
Staff were always very helpful
Gravy with chicken was a little thick and very salty
The hotel was really nice, staff friendly and helpful. It was clean and nicely decorated. Food was lovely. We had wine - prices about the same as other places. Would stay there again.Very central hotel. Great bus service to go places.
Only thing we were not keen on was the steps up to reception. Bit of hard work with a case but we made it! There is a bell to ring for help if you needed it.
Excellent location, had a very comfortable stay and the food was very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms a good size and bathroom very clean.
Location, location, location
No parking whatsoever not even to take out the luggage.
The hotel is very central and within a 10-15 minute walk of the Royal Mile and the Edinburgh Playhouse. It also overlooks Prince's Street Gardens. Beds were extremely comfy and very clean.
The room was warm a bit too warm even without the heating on, but having the windows open meant being subjected to the noise from the street below well into the night.
Lovely old traditional hotel with beautiful veiws from both our room and the hotel restaurant. The location was perfect, just a few minutes walk from the very centre of old Edinburgh. The room was tastefully decorated and well equipped. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The reception staff on leaving were extremely friendly and helpful.
The reception staff on arrival were curt and abrubt. The bed was uncomfortable (the fault of the mattress I think). The bathroom was extremely cold. The curtains didn't fit the windows properly, which was problematic when getting changed, especially with the number double decker tour buses going by the window! A mini bar would have been useful. Little thing - it would have been nice to have some hot chocolate with the drinks selection for people who don't drink tea/coffee/uht milk.
Cleanliness, accessibility and comfort
The hotel is in a very good location near train station and shops. The breakfast was good value for money. Had a room at the back very quiet.
The room was too warm, there were draughts in the corridors
