Very convenient for airport bus After having had a lovely room in May of this year we were dissapointed with the size of this room. Had to walk through our coats in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom due to the positioning of the clothes rack. This should have been classed as a single room |

The veiw of the castle, the amenities provided in the room and the location all made my visit most enjoyable The sheets were not clean - hairs left beind etc, the construction on princes street was disruptive especially early in the morning, |

The Hotel had a certain "old-world charm". I loved the comfortable/easy feel to it. The reception and Dining Room staff were all really friendly and helpful while maintaining a very "respectful" distance. The food was very good too. I was a little surprised to find the entrance was small (basically a corridor to a stairs up to the Reception. It might have been an idea to state this on the Hotel description. As a single female, I found this difficult at first. Also the hotel was a little on the cold side. (Maybe due to the draughty "old" windows. Also there was extensive Tram works outside the Hotel....progress I know, but it would have been nice to be warned in advance. |

Unfortunate for them at present that whilst the work goes on outside for the new tramlines it was very noisy early morning with all the workmen arriving. |

Nice, well run hotel within two minutes of the main railway station, close to the castle and right on Princes Street. Good value for money. Public areas of the hotel could do with a bit of brightening up. |

Loved the location; castle out the front window, gardens just across the street. Train and Bus access an easy 2 minute walk. Edinburg Castle 10 minute walk, National Gallery a 4 minute walk. Enjoyed the Character and Charm of the Old Hotel; the Staff were very helpful and easy to work with. Being on Princes Street, when the pubs closed, the drunks sang their way home, very loudly, at times. Which is not, a complaint of the hotel, but something to expect from almost any hotel in this prime location. |

as the hotel is on princes street it is ideal location for all attractions, it cuts out taxis and buses as most things are in walking distance. it is also only a ten minute walk from waverley train station. the breakfast was also very nice. there is only one lift in the building which can only hold 4 people, the staff also use this lift for their house keeping stuff, so sometimes it was a long wait. it is also only stair access up to the reception. i found the rooms hot and the window did not open. there is also quite a bit of noise from the street, this was from bins being emptyed through the night. |

The hotel is at a very convenient location just across the bus and train station. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We were allocated a very good room with front views. The breakfast was good but the menu could have been changed every 3 days. Since we stayed for 4 nights, we were quite fed up of eating the same breakfast daily. A little alteration is required. |

It is ideally situated for a visit to see Edinburgh, whether or not it is your first visit. Within walking distance of Waverley station. The dining room at breakfast is a pleasure to experience. Too bad about the tramway outside, but I personally found that very interesting to see. Hope to see it completed! |

Location There were bedbugs and I ended up with over 100 bites on my body. There are too many stairs to get to the room. |

Helpful staff, nice room, good evening meal at very reasonable price - although restaurant was poorly supported by other residents. Room was a little on the small side, noise problems from outside during the night - much of which was due to Princes Street being closed for tram track works. |

Though it is a very small hotel, we have a very comfortable stay. The bathroom accessories are adequate and room is clean. Most importantly, the location is excellant. Check -in and check-out were easy and uncomplicated, too. |

The location was perfect for access to the Waverley Rail Station and the within reasonable walking distance of the Royal Mile for shopping, eating, etc. The staff were most courteous and helpful. It would have been beneficial to have known that face cloths/wash cloths are not available. However, I found that not all but some other hotels in the UK did not have/provide these items as well. |
