Parts of Biddeford were lively and busy with independent shops and eateries. The Bread Cafe was excellent. The staff were very attentive and engaging. We didn’t eat there as we had already eaten a large breakfast but the Rock Buns looked amazing and were very popular with other customers. However, there was also an area that looked a little rundown and in need of some tlc. A sign of the times sadly.

My accommodation was five miles or so from Bideford, in the countryside. Bideford offers shopping and eating opportunities and is a pleasant town. Not a place to spend all your time but, a good base from which to explore N. Devon.

We went in the winter which limited us a little but that's no criticism of the town or area, of course. Lots of tourist facilities. LOADS of activities and nearby beaches/estuaries. Shops open everywhere despite it being March and cold and wet.
It's a lovely place to visit for holiday/break/activities. Perhaps a tiny bit old fashioned but that added to the charm and if you needed tech it was there, just not so much in your face as at home.
Just the right atmosphere for family and/or romance.
Loveliest views & stunning landscapes offering endless walking/hiking/biking/watersports.

Superb fish & chips at Mr Chips and amazing Chinese food for takeaway at Mr Ho, loads of great restaurants and takeaways to choose from.
All large supermarkets available and the shopping area by Asda is worth a look.
Lot's of great charity shops but very uphill walk which is not really user friendly for anyone using crutches or walking stick, best to get droped off at the top and take it steady back down to the river front.

Friendly town with good places for the family to dine and rest. Ample areas to stroll around the town with waterfront and parks. Shopping is adequate and supermarkets allow for self-dining if required. Affordable restaurants and welcoming staff everywhere we visited.

The location was so central to everything.
The location was so central to everything. Albeit in the sticks. Biddeford is very pretty. The surrounded pubs are wonderful. Nothing is too far away
We went to Victoria park. Great on a warm day for kids
Clovelly was beautiful and a lovely experience
The thatched in pub was fab
Westward ho! Beach and the waterfront inn is a must
Louise took care to get the caravan ready for us before our stay. She was friendly and kindly allowed us to check in early. The check out time was also good. The caravan was generally well equipped, clean and the double bed was very comfortable. She left tea/coffee, biscuits and other sweet treats which the children especially loved. The books and games were also great. The area is lovely and if you’re happy to have a bit of a hike back up the hill, there’s a beautiful walk through woodland down to the sea.
A very attractive inn, with many features of the old coaching inn still in place.
The food at dinner and breakfast was superb, well cooked and plentiful. Sunday roasts are very popular. They are so good.
The staff was pleasant and professional.
There is a large parking area at the rear of the hotel, but with a bit of a tight squeeze getting into and out of it.
The bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable.
This place has a nice verandah with a table and 8 chairs! Also two sofas and a comfy chair! There is a lovely view of Bideford Bay! The fan heaters are very good, we found out because it was cold a couple of evenings. The beds were comfortable. We had to strip them on departure, we think, from memory, because the instructions were on the laptop in email but there is no Wifi! So not much point sending in email.
Staying at Lower Winsford was a pitstop before travelling to Lundy Island. It was only about a 5 min drive to Bideford Quay. I had booked a single room, but was upgraded to a double! I did not get to meet the host due to timings, but she was very helpful via text messages. The room and bathroom were very clean and well kept. The shower was phenomenal! Bed was very comfy. I wish I could have stayed longer.
Attractive property in quiet Bideford location. Rooms exceptionally clean, with big, comfortable beds and quality bedding.
Property well cared for. Lovely cooked to order breakfasts made with good quality ingredients, with fresh fruit available. Property run by a friendly couple, Jane and Steve, who really understand what makes an outstanding B&B/small hotel work.
The landlady is very friendly and seems eager to help with anything. Room is functional with everything needed for an overnight stay. Home cooked breakfast was very nice and perfect to start the day. Location is good with only a 10-15 minute walk into the town centre where there are plenty of takeaways and a pleasant wetherspoons.
Very good value indeed for a clean, comfortable room and friendly staff. It is an unpretentious 3 star hotel but the basics are all very strong.
Service at dinner and breakfast was quick and helpful.
Car park was not large but there was plenty of room on a Sunday and it is conveniently situated just across the road.
The location is perfect, very close to many brilliant locations in North Devon.
The apartment is very spacious and clean. It has everything you could need - including tea and coffee facilities.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful also.
The area is very quiet and peaceful, a real change from London!
A lovely little cottage, clean, cosy and well equipped for a short stay. Very peaceful farm location with sheep and cattle, feels very rural but only a couple of miles from the town of Bideford with plenty of amenities. The owners were friendly and made my family feel very welcome throughout our stay.
Pleasantly surprised at how spacious it was. Clean, tidy, nicely presented. Decent sized and comfortable beds with walk in wardrobes in both bedrooms and plenty of room for clothes/suitcases. Just around the corner from the bar/play area/pool etc. All in all, great base to explore north Devon.
Everything was total perfection in the perfect setting...the views and sunset is amazing . The fresh eggs and bread were very thoughtful and bed and pillows were so very comfortable ....
A little bit of heaven on earth and perfect base to explore north Devon x
Great location to explore many places on the North Coast of Devon.
Hotel was very clean. Staff were very friendly and the food was great too. Breakfast was lovely but can also recommend the roast . It was delicious and great value with a dessert too.
The hotel is easily reached from the A39 and a good base for exploring Bideford across the river. Our room was a good size and the bed very comfortable. There are plentiful options at breakfast from full cooked to continental.
Easy to access. Outdoor and indoor pool were great for kids. Good location in North Devon, 20 mins drive to Bideford / Westward Ho. The apartment was nice and comfortable. My daughter loved the reclining sofa!
The Cottage was exactly as advertised. It was clean and easy to deal with Chris the owner. We stayed here whilst visiting Clovelly and Hartland so was a perfect location for exploring the local area.
The breakfast was okay but the service was disorganised on the second day. The location was good with just a short walk to the beach and car journey into Bideford
