the room the staff and the peace and quiet
Welcome and service were really great - friendly & helpful. Breakfast was brilliant. Stayed in the bar in the evening which was so comfortable and with prices no more expensive than you'd expect in a decent pub. Location was excellent. All in all a class act.
Style of rooms Helpful staff Standard if breakfast
Friendly, helpful and attentionate staff. Fine food in divine setting gave us an unforgetable dining experience as rarely known these days. Tasteful decor
Relaxed feel good food very helpful staff in lovely surroundings
Stayed in room 4, four poster bed and stunning views over Torbay. This was a weekend trip away as a birthday treat. Staff were friendly and helpful, even have us a history of the building. Room was comfortable, towels soft and fluffy! Evening meal was amazing, even brought out a Happy Birthday treat, which was delicious. Looking forward to going back again.
It was a lovely traditional manor house set in mature gardens nested overlooking the sea. It was extremely tranquil and the service was excellent.
There was no shower in the room and it was not cheap
Staff - restaurant & bar staff wonderful - so attentive - made you feel unique - reception not quite so but greeting from owner showing us to our room with our luggage was much appreciated. View - breathtaking. Food - delicious and good value. Drinks - slightly expensive but what you would expect from a hotel. Room - large but at the same time quaint.
Table booked for 8.30pm-wasn't available until 9.30pm meaning very late dinner, not conducive to a settled night's sleep. During our 2 night stay - it was our Silver Wedding Anniversary which we made known on booking and again on arrival but no reference at all was made to it. Surely an upgrade or some gesture would have been appropriate? This would be the case in many other establishments, especially 4 star accommodation. I did ask to pay for upgrade but nothing available on the 1st night - no offer was made on the 2nd night although there were rooms available. Other than this it was a beautiful stay and we will return.
Good meals and nice relaxed ambiance. Well done to the man who mixed our gin and tonics....superb!
Thought through and spot on with all aspects.
Didn't not like anything but some flannels would have been great.
The wonderful location and stunning views The peace and quiet The excellent service - friendly and helpful. Focus on meeting every customer need. Food and wine
Lack of wifi More comfortable garden seating
The food was superb.
The decoration in the reception and stairs needs updating as gives the wrong impression...more retirement home than boutique hotel.
Good staff Good food Good room

Character, cleanliness, service, food, environment, views, rooms, facilities
Tough for walking unless going out for a long walk as on a steep hill and not close enough to walk to village
Views are amazing from terrace over well kept gardens across the bay Staff were friendly and welcoming
Rooms are dated Rooms were not cleaned and this includes bed not been made up Breakfast staff were struggling with English Breakfast was limited
Interesting building full of character.
Very relaxing hotel, with fabulous service, delicious food, and lots of charm & character. The hotel is run by 2 generations of the same family, and all of them are so passionate it is an absolute joy to behold. I was just passing through on business, but I will be back with my wife for a longer stay, as this is a perfect little romantic retreat. Nice atmosphere in the lounge and restaurant in the evening, which seems popular with the locals.
Honestly can't think of anything not to like!
Lovely old house in glorious coastal setting. Beautifully furnished and decorated. All the staff we met were friendly, courteous and efficient. Some nice complimentary features like quality bottled water, toiletries, bath robes etc. Excellent restaurant with good selection and quality food. Couldn't as for anything more.
