The living area and kitchen were spacious and well-equipped. Washing machine and wi-fi were great and a short drive into town made it easy to explore the beautiful city of York. We received very helpful directions and local information upon arrival.
The beds were very uncomfortable and the cottage was quite noisy. We could hear noise from adjoining rooms and the heater was quite loud, especially at night.
The property was nice and warm on our arrival, The staff were friendly and accommodating. The cottage was charming.
The beds were not comfortable and only one very poor pillow each. The bedding could do with updating as it was a bit tatty. There was not enough drinking tumblers and only two wine glasses in the kitchen and had to buy some from ASDA.
Bed is very comfy breakfast was still as good as last time I came, nice and quiet fair price for what you get. Have stayed befor and would still stay again
Slightly outdated bathroom but was still clean
Location ideal for a short getaway close to all amenities, enjoyable stay had by all.
Not well equipped if you were too stay longer ie two weeks holiday as you would struggle to cook a roast as there was not a lot of pots &pans.Wifi no good mobile phone signal black spot.
Bed was sooooooo comfortable and such a cosey cottage did not want to leave.
Having to travel to york not long on bus but just a nuisance as no shops near by
The village was in nice settings
There was no greeting & welcome.on arrival the lady came to the door very vacant? I had to ask about checkout times & breakfast time. When entering the room the wall on the shower cubical was going mouldy & there was still an empty water bottle I take from previous guest & apart from a quick tidy it hadn't been cleaned. At breakfast no welcome & explain. The food was very average & then to pay I had to ask & they were still cooking & I had to go into the kitchen to pay for my room. Not once did I get ask how my stay was or nothing. There was no integration at all. Very disappointed & feel that I was overcharged for this service would not recommend & wish I had refused to pay.
Had some problems with broken fridge and suspect linen but these were replaced really quickly and without fuss. Great location and nice cottage. Staff was helpful. All in all, good value for money and suits families with children.
Wi Fi was useless and the DVD player didn't work.
very friendly, nice warm rooms and quick bus ride into York. Defiantly come back
Everything was great, except bedding and wi-fi.
The bedding is very old and thin and the sheets barely fit the double-beds so come off during the night. No undersheet. A real shame as the rest is good. Bedding is not that expensive now so it's a false economy. No point in advertising free wi-fi as we couldn't get it in the cottage.
Loved this place! Very vintage/old world/rustic feel. Room was very comfy and location was great! 10 minute drive into York Centre. Breakfast was great and staff were very helpful, relaxed and accomodating. Highly recommend and would love to stay again.
The bed was a little creaky.
Breakfast was OK
Old furnished room, old bathroom. No luxory old matress.
It was near sandburn hall
Broken mirror, stains on floor, only 1 bath towel, spider in bath, no shower gel/shampoo, no bin in toilet!
Friendly staff & the breakfast was 1st class, you don't go hungry. Very clean and tidy. The location was ideal for us & a good bus service to & from York.
The only slight thing was as it is an old building so the floors creak and with noisy guests on the nights we were there did disturb us a little.
Great location a few miles outside York. On a bus route with regular buses. Local pub and shop. Super full English breakfast so set us up for the day in York. I would consider the cottages next time if staying for a longer period as they looked amazing.
Everything that you need on hand. Owners warm welcome and friendly Peaceful and Cozy. Would definitely return. Thanks Claire.
Lovely building from the outside Nice staff
Room's décor is tired Wifi reception rubbish A lot of money for what we got.
This is our 2nd time staying in a one bedroom cottage and we would not hesitate to return in fact I can't wait Such a lovely villiage and everyone was so helpful
Ome of the other guests can be a bit noisy but thats selfish people for you No fault of the owners who will tell them to be a bit more considerate
not that much
communication with owner was poor
5 mins drive to park & ride for York. Very quiet village but group of holiday lets in old stables were charming
Had to drive everywhere, no restaurants within walking distance so couldn't have wine with meals.
Location and quiet area.
Wifi did not work at all. Parking was also a problem at times.
The staff were very helpful and understanding of the situation we were in, my friend was very ill. My daughter in Australia recommended we stayed there. Her family had stayed there in2012 and loved it.
helpful staff spacious room
broken shower, lousy breakfast
Good, clean room Friendly staff WiFi access included
Squeaking floor boards from people moving around upstairs from very early in the morning
*Friendly and helpful staff. *Cottage was comfortable. *There is a small grocery store walking distance from the cottage. *Nicely located to many sites around the area. *If ever in the area I would go back and stay at Orillia House B&B. **Great restaurants in York.....Milton's too, York Brewry, Trembling Madness. All Excellent
