Excellent staff. Friendly and conscientious. Breakfast was lovely. The building is extraordinary, with chandeliers, rugs, marble features, wood panelling, a splendid 1930s lift (complete with fold down seat), and an extraordinary Victorian era dumb waiter that rises from the dining room floor. It all brought a great big smile to my face. Delightfully eccentric really and despite my negative comments, I would happily return. The bedroom I stayed in, on the 4th floor, was dreadfully outdated. Real 1970s decor, including polystyrene ceiling tiles (hadn't seen them for a while). The paintwork and much of the woodwork is very tatty and in dire need of stripping out and re-installing. Real shame, because the hotel is charming otherwise. I didn't see any other rooms, so it may just be an anomaly. Sadly, given the jaded condition of the bedroom, I felt the rate I paid (£140 for a double room late June '10) was not great value for money.

A total dump. Room didn't look as if it had been touched for years - ancient tatty furniture, poor decoration, unpleasant bathroom. If I'd had any option for staying elsewhere that night, believe me I would have taken it!

It was very convenient for Sloane Square station and there was a feeling of safety. The bathroom was clean. Staff were very attentive. It was an "interesting" stay and there was plenty to giggle about so sense of humour is required. It was memorable because of some of the origional features such as the beatiful lift and interesting dining room fixtures. The main areas were very traditional and in -keeping with the origional 20's theme The bedrooms were not the standard i had expected at the price we were paying. At Breakfast on the first morning, we were not offered anything other than toast from the plastic packet. The second morning we were offered eggs as an after-thought but not asked how we wanted them cooking but when they arrived they were welcome and nicely cooked. The couple next to us were offered bacon which we hadnt been offered to us. In the bedroom, the front of the drawer fell off in my hand when i tried to open it, and my window was propped up with a matchbox. The plastic cover ontop of the dressing table did not fit, and one of the lampshades had a whole burned through from the heat of the lamp, with the tv ariel draped over the top so i was concerned about safety in that respect. I believe that an investment is required, and if carried out, i would reccommend the hotel due to the location and attentiveness of some of the staff (other staff were too attentive to the point of intrusive).

Old school, guest is king. It was easy to imagine the hotel in use in the Georgian times. Reception and breakfast area probably haven't changed that much Bed Clothes, Bed and room were a little tired.

Thank you to Mr Alan and everyone at the hotel. My husband and I had a lovely stay (Dec 11-15, 2011) and felt like being part of some scene of Victorian period with personalized and very kind treat. Perfect location, decor and service. We'd recommend to stay with Ormonde House to everyone who is looking for stay close to all London attractions (and at the same time in glamourous and calm district) and those who are looking for romantic decoration. Thank you very much, indeed.

Location. Nice clean sheets The room standard was exceptionally poor. The ensuite door didnt close properly (4 inch gap when closed, and didnt lock), the loo seat slipped off the bowl when sat on. The tiling was in an atrocious condition and very old. The shower was antique and not very effective. The carpet was dirty (and old). The wardrobe looked a diy affair and very poor standard. The room furnishing in general was so poor and old it wouldnt be possible to clean it properly anyway. No tea or coffee in room. No instructions in room for internet connection. Leaving our luggage after checkout was clearly going to be awkward so we carried it out anyway.

Our room was a delightful surprise. A major and unexpected upgrade to a huge bedroom and bathroom. The location also exceeded our expectations. We are looking forward to our next stay at the end of this month.

I was late arriving during to a work commitment and they were fine with me checking in at 11pm. The bathroom was atrocious. There were two showers and one of them was a power shower but neither had any power or even very much hot water. It took me a lot longer to shower as there was so little water and gravity was the only thing causing the water to flow. There was no iron or ironing board. There were stains on the ceiling. The room door was not sealed so that light came in from the hall. The tv was the smallest I have seen and the satellite was unpredictable. The noise from the street was loud despite me being quite high up. For £140 I would have expected a much better room.
