The food, the staff and the public rooms were great and could not be faulted. Parking is available cheaply nearby so is not a problem and the town centre location is ideal.
Our room (15) was quirky and OK but the wasn't one draw to unpack into - just an enormous wardrobe without shelves. Also the bedside light and clock radio/alarm were arranged on an extension lead which was not functioning so a tad Heath Robinson.
The room was nice, and the guy who took us to the room was helpful. The breakfast was quite good and I had a great Omelette. All of the other amenities were what you would expect from a 3 star hotel. The bar Was nice and was quite buzzy. All in all we enjoyed our stay.
They seemed a little short on staff, but that is just my opinion. Also there is an area walking up to our room that smelt like cigarette smoke, which was unpleasant, but not the end of the world as my room or the hallway I was in did not smell
The position is great, the staff very friendly, the pub itself does great food and good beer.
The room we had was a little on the tired side, needs decorating and the view was not what I was expecting for the money I paid.
Good food although portions small and not very flexible when we asked for more vegetables (not unless we paid more). Nice room, four poster we requested was reserved for us. Cosy bar.
No carparking meant a bit of a walk to a public carpark or moving the car every hour after 9am. Heating didn't come on in the morning, frosty outside! Non UK staff friendly but seemed to struggle with language, our cooked breakfast order was wrong and Branston Pickle became Worcester sauce.
Cold floor in bathroom
could not fault the ormonds head for anything, staff were very friendy and efficient , hotel and room was spotlessly clean , food was of a high standard and good value for money, hotel is very pet friendy , will most definately stay again
nothing at all
Staff attitude Room maintenance Having to go elswhere to get the food we wanted
Although the bed was a lovely size, mattress was very soft, and my husband suffers with a bad back, 2 nights enough! Also duck feather pillows and duvet aren't great for asthma sufferers .
staff were friendly and breakfast good (tad much mustard)
found an ant on the bed
The restaurant and bar served excellent food and breakfast. Nice cosy feeling with friendly staff.
The hotel was holding christmas parties over the weekend that we stayed and although they didnt finish late were extremely noisy and directly outside of our room. Also, the room itself was above the kitchen so we there was obvious noise during these periods together with creaky floorboards from the people above.
Excellent staff and location, expensive but you pay for location and the town you are staying in
Old building, noisy, drafty, room small and tired
Lovely atmosphere , very festive . Staff were helpful and food was tasty.
room 12 - Upper shower didn't work at all . Over the bath shower wouldn't fit above the bath . Not ideal at all.
Beds Bath Decoration Breakfast
Food in the restaurant was inedible although the breakfast was good in the morning
Central location breakfasts and bed
Long trip up stairs & price of drinks in the bar
Very friendly staff and good breakfast
Parking - very limited. Noise from pub courtyard outside until closing time.
Atmosphere and food and location
Everything, a perfect weekend away in a cosy classic feel exclusive hotel, stunning food, in a fantastic town that has much to see, even most of the shops are open on Sunday, so many antique shops and amazing french market. Will be staying again!
Parking, but you cant have that in a town that was built before cars, parking is only a few mins away and not a problem.
The hotel was very well-placed in town. Charming building and the bar and restaurant looked really cosy and inviting. The rooms were lovely and even though there had been a bit of a mix-up with the bookings, the manager handled it smoothly and put us and our family first. Result - happy guests. The food was brilliant. Could not fault it. Lovely duck salad, a generous hake fillet on spicy lentils with rocket and parmesan, and lovely lemon sorbet to finish. My husband's rib-eye steak was superb. The hotel offered value for money and we would stay there again, happily recommending it to others.
Only thing to improve on now are a few details of shabbiness in otherwise very smart bedrooms.
Such a happy and helpful staff and the facilities and atmosphere of the hotel was excellent. We will stay again.
There was nothing to put here I am very pleased to say.
Room was lovely especially the bed, shower wonderful in fact allround comfort. Staff very helpful and the food really good morning and evening ,a lovely break enjoyed by us both.
No restaraunts, but then the food was good in hotel.
The location was good. Food, both dinner and breakfast, was lovely.
No on site parking The heating was not adequate, but an electric heater was brought to the room. The shower on Sunday am was cold, supposedly due to the large amount of guests. Hotel in need of updating.
Full English breakfast. Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Central location for exploring Bath, Cirencester and Cheltenham and very convenient for Westonbirt.
Nobody on reception.Room 7 over the kitchen was noisy and very hot with food smells. Bar floor being cleaned with disinfectant next to us eating our breakfast. Insufficient hot water for a bath. Towels rather thin and small. Lack of parking. It's only when you read Booking.com smallprint you learn the free parking is on street away from the hotel.
Food was excellent. Staff were both cheerful and pleasant. The overall atmosphere was very nice.
The staff were excellent as was the food. The bed room and especially the bath room were very good
Car parking was a problem with the restrictions on adjacent parking. IE 2hrs only allowed. Free parking was a considerable distance away. Over night parking although nearer had to be paid for after 2 hrs.
Both evening meal and breakfast were excellent
Parking is an issue
