Best Western Orton Hall HotelThe Village, Orton Longueville, PE2 7DN Peterborough (Show map) Very good, Score from 77 reviews“Former stately home on outskirts of town (near ring road). Successfully combines smart hotel, wedding venue and local pub. Requested quiet room on weekend was not affected by wedding reception. Local staff friendly and unpretentious. Restaurant good. Church (part of estate) had Harvest Festival for local children.”
Robert,
Birmingham
A seventeenth century manor house set on 20 acres of mature parkland in the conservation village of Orton Longueville yet only 2.5 miles from the center of the city and the A1. Previously the home of the Marques of Huntly.
There is a choice of dining in either the elegant award-winning oak paneled Huntly Restaurant, with its warm and intimate atmosphere and a selection of wines to suit most palates, or The Ramblewood Inn, a traditional country pub converted from the old stable block. The Ramblewood Inn offers a wide selection of real ales and hearty food in either the bar or sun room. Peterborough has many local attractions including the museum, a magnificent cathedral, Nene Valley Railway (7.5 mile steam train line) and Burghley House. It is also an excellent center for visiting Cambridge which is only half an hour away. Special getaway 2 day offers are available all year. The hotel is adjacent to Nene Park and two 18 hole golf courses. Picturesque Stamford is nearby. Hotel Rooms: 72, Hotel Chain: Best Western.

Guest at wedding held at hotel. Location superb as church 2 min walk away Staff very unhelpful in the main. Sheets on bed did not fit too small to tuck in top or bottom. Went to reception, only security operative on duty, no other staff or Duty Manager. Security op did bring up 2 replacement sheets so I could change the bed! No leisure activities available all weekend due to some burst pipe problem? Not sure how you reconcile nightly price with what actually on offer. Packed before going to breakfast. Took prescription medication with me to take tablets with breakfast. Inadvertently left medication on table. Noticed at 10pm that night at home. Rang hotel, put through to restaurant. Staff member shouted out "anyone seen any tablets" then advised me "sorry they are not here" Never took my name etc.

Comfortable room with good ensuite The breakfast in the hotel was excellent but the evening meal in the hotel run pub was not the best. However in mitigation, the real ale was excellent.

Spacious Rooms in a charming building. There are plenty of choices for eating in the hotel and the 'pub' option was farly reasonable. I thought the breakfast price at £15 was a little disappointing. The buffet was quite dried up and unappealing by 8.00am even though there was over an hour to go!

The spa facilities are excellent and the swimming pool is of a very good size for an hotel. The water pressure is wonderful and the bath filled in a couple of minutes (I live where the water pressure is very low!). The staff were all very professional and friendly.

The hotel has a nice atmosphere - the rooms are spacious and fully equipped. The staff are excellent and always helpful - the Ramblewood Inn is a short walk or hop from the reception area and offers good beers and reasonable food in good atmosphere. Breakfast is way too expensive - ate at another place where breakfast is a third of the price.
