Location Dining area improved since last visit
Heating in our room broke down A slightly tired air to the internal facilities
Food, eggs not cooked properly, returned, new breakfast had hair in. They did give us a voucher to have another another day and that was perfect.
Staff were very informative, polite and when I lost my brooch they were very quick to find it and return it to me. Location and view fabulous. Room was very comfortable apart from the bed.
Our bed creaked and groaned every time we moved and as I am a very light sleeper I was awake most of the night. Every time I turned over the noise woke me up.
Helpful staff, clean room, easy parking, garden in front of hotel. Special mention for the ladies that served breakfast who genuinely wanted to help (even if the chef didn't) and the manager when I checked in who helped get the internet connection working for me. Very pleasant stay.
Cost of pot of tea for friend who came to visit, difficulty getting wifi to work in bedroom (excellent connection in lounge). poor lighting in room, slow service at breakfast.
Room: Lawrence Service: Good Bedroom: Good Sea View: Good Staff: Could not be better, very attentive
Bathroom is dated and tired, tile grout has eroded and someone has tried to seal between the tiles with silicone, if this was done professionally, consider hiring a different tradesman. Also the same problem with the bath panel, and the shower curtain needs replacing, also shaver socket has a piece of plastic hanging from it so as to make the electrical connection, remove it and the light goes off!!
Location / Views Quiet
Despite rooms being upgraded, the bath tap was loose on the wall, the toilet seat was broken and the windows would not shut properly. However at face value room looked good, clean and was sizable. The bar area in the evening had a double glazing motivational speech taking place, which meant there was no where to relax for a drink. When speaking with reception they didnt seem bothered and welcomed me to sit in reception for a drink. Breakfast average and greasy. Tired dinning room that resembles something out the mid 90's. It was very off putting to see the bar man switching between cleaning the customer toilets and serving behind the bar. Staff seemed really unmotivated which reflected on their service levels.
Lovely views Breakfast very good
Bathroom was very tired and in need of a re vamp. Bed was very soft, needed new mattress.
Great location Friendly staff Good room Great food except second night
Very noisy radiator in the room which woke us at 5am. Poor shower in bathroom Had to send back our sea bass as not cooked properly on second night.
swimming pool changing facilities - very poor. Dismal lighting in the bedroom.
Very noisy late booking in guests woke us 1am Very poor bedside lighting unable to read No plain yogurt for breakfast
Room, view, food, staff. We had a fantastic stay and would love to return.
Quick check in. Excellent staff. Couldn't do enough for you with out being obtrusive. The English breakfast was enough to take you through the day. Comfortable room. We had a junior suite called Osborne overlooking the sea. The sauna was great at the end of the evening. We would certainly stay here again.
If I had to make a negative comment it would be that the tile area at the swimming pool could do with regular steam washes.
Sea view room very nice, bed really comfy, good range of drinks in room staff really nice ,
Shower awful, very hard to turn on and off ,dribble if water had meal 1st nite great 2nd night complained about meal ,most of food cold ,was sent message back from chef who measured heat in the only part that was hot stating temp was 63 deg ,if i wanted it hotter i should say how much hotter i wanted it .just wanted it at a reasonable heat . this did spoil stay as everything else good.wish i asked to see chef and explained about meal .think he was having bad nite ,2 other meals returned twice ,tough meat and then overcooked veg.
Wonderful breakfasts good selection. Overall food very good. Location good for walking into town [10-15 min walk] and taxis readily available for getting home.
Room probably above kitchens, noisy fans noticeable and irritating at night. Not good considering price. Unable to have sea view room which was a shame as location is good.
good sized and well appointed bedroom, first class restaurant, comfortable lounge, excellent gym.
although bathroom was good and recently refitted, it had no towel rail
Brilliant sea views from a very comfortable room. Food excellent.
Only negative was the slowness of the kitchen during evening meals.
Accommodation first class.
Evening meal menu, Not what it used to be, We ate else where
Easy walk to the town and the beach.
We were not informed that there was a wedding on during our stay and unbeknown to us they shut both bar and brassiery. We came back from town hoping to have lunch out side and we were told that both areas would be closed, we couldn't even get a bag of crisps from the bar. If we had been informed we would have altered our day accordingly.
Staff extremely friendly and very helpful. Lovely bedroom, very comfortable bed, fantastic views and location.
Shower could have been better.
The food was of a high standard but the menu was repetitive. Good hot served food on hot plates went a long was towards making up for the poor maintained bed rooms. The dining room staff were well turned and professional.
My allocated room which was over the hotel kitchen was noisy and the window blind was unfit for purpose. The strings on the rear of the blind were too short and this rendered the blind useless. I was allocated another room and this has similar problems. Although I booked a double room I spent my first night in a single. Overall the experience from a comfort point of view was not good. Next day I was allocated a double room 206 and the sink plug was faulty and not working. The plug plunger on the sink was so short it was difficult to get the plug out of the sink hole. The latch on the inside of the bathroom door was missing and there were no hand grips to assist with getting in and out of the bath. The soap containers were fixed to the wall and out of reach to a person having a bath. Same applies to the ones by the wash basin. The carpet in the room is badly stained and in need of cleaning. Overall It was not what I expected of a four star hotel and I would be reluctant to recommend it to anybody.
Beautiful location. Nice room. Good food. Friendly helpful staff.
Limited dinner menu, but when specials appeared, these were excellent. There did seem to be a difference when alternate chef on duty. Lack of alternative meal option on occasion of evening theatre visit.
it was all good.
We can't praise the wonderful staff enough. They were friendly, welcoming and professional - a true asset to the hotel. Food was good, lovely breakfast. Brilliant views over the bay. A relaxing and comfortable stay in a very nice hotel. We would definitely go back there again.
Indoor pool is nice, but could do with a bit of an upgrade. Bed was comfortable but pillows weren't all that.
The location, restaurant and the general ambience.
Housekeeping poor as bedrooms not clean. Dinner menu the same every night.
Beautiful exterior and setting of the hotel and very comfortable. Slightly away from town giving it a great relaxed feel but really only minutes to town by taxi or car- perfect.
Decor was a little tired but nothing of great significance.
