Very good food and service
The room was comfortable and spacious with everything that you could need. Fantastic location with a quality meal from the restaurant at night Staff were very friendly and helpful
The only slight problem encountered was that the room was not easy to find. Up and down stairs over different levels.
1.The staff were very helpful with all questions we had although we were told the Langtry Room evening menu was due to change on the Wednesday, but it didn'Really! 2.Very impressed with the size of the room and the housekeeping; the lady who looked after our room was very helpful, friendly and pleasant.
1.The procedure for entry to the indoor swimming pool and sauna was not explained to us.We had to find out for ourselves when we used it. 2.The change in closing time for the brasserie was not shown in the Room Brochure - we missed the earlier closing time and therefore had to go into Torquay for our evening meal on our first day. 3.Although it was after the 1st of September, a little bit of entertainment (possibly in the Drawing Room?) wouldn't have gone amiss.
everying about the hotel was excellent bedrooms etc location perfect food excellent weill certainly be visiting the osborne again
the actual dining room lacked decoration anq atmosphere
The food and scenary
The foreign staff were hard to understand and decour was a bit worn
Charming older building -- a crescent overlooking the sea. Cul-de-sac access so traffic is minimal. Outdoor bar and restaurant; outdoor and indoor pool. Beautiful landscaping and pleasant walks. Delicious and generous breakfast. Pleasant, experienced staff.
Half floors between elevators mean steps either going up or down.
The rooms were clean, comfortable and good value. I would recommend this hotel for family and friends as well as business partners.
Lovely grounds and view's over the sea. 15 minute walk to town centre and the harbour, and wonderful breakfast!
Quilt was very thick for the end of summer. The window blinds let in a bit of light so curtains in the window too would have been good, but it didn't affect our stay at all!
Staff food location very good
Poor old bed and low quality pillows. The mattress was old you could feel each spring it is a shame that they have not put the investment in as without a good nights sleep you cannot enjoy the break. It makes me think would I return.
Location, Good access to bus service.
Dinner was too fussy, surprised to find it was same menu each evening. We decided not to dine the last evening. Shame, other aspects of hotel good.
Our suite had excellent space and a great balcony with sea veiws.
Staff very friendly. Food in the Brasserie & Restaurant very very good. grounds look lovingly cared for.
A few of the surfaces were heavy with dust (a white hand when swept across the shelf on the radiator etc) why do we have those awful hand pumps in the shower which have been used by dozens when tomato ketchup is served in a little dish at breakfast?
everthing except price.
The room was amazing, hearing the waves in my room and seeing the sea waking up. The staff were helpful and always polite. The room was refreshed daily. Apart from the eggs at breakfast the breakfast was lovely!
The breakfast was good apart from the eggs (fussy I know) bit I had different type each day and none were cooked right. The fried eggs had what was slime looking on top as if uncooked right, poached egg had lots of uncooked white when I broke the egg. But the bacon was amazing! And so was the jam =)
The atmosphere,view,friendly service,size of room,food,parking...everything really.
Shower wasn't very powerful.
My wife and I visited Torquay for the first time and was blown away by the view from the front of the hotel. The exterior of the hotel is immaculately kept with the grounds and the facilities well kept. Our room was on the third floor and ocean facing but unfortunately didn't have a balcony (I'd suggest getting a room with one!). The hotel was close to the Torquay town centre and there were lots of things to do on the grounds of the hotel. Relaxing in the outdoor brasserie at the front of the hotel was great and the staff were very helpful and courteous. The room was a bit dated but the bed was very comfortable and the overall decor was very good.
As a 4 start hotel I would have expected a bit more attention to detail. I was a bit disappointed with the check in where the staff member seemed a bit disinterested. Overall the housekeeping was good but there were little things like making sure there was ample toilet paper and making judgements when to wash towels. None of these things are huge issues but for 4 stars they need to step their game up a little. The food at Langtry's was okay although the brasserie served the best chips (as part of the fish and chips) I've ever had. The drinks were a little overpriced though.
Food Location Sea View Staff - efficient and friendly
Staff were very customer service aware; helpful, polite and quick to respond to guests. The hotel gardens and views were impressive.
We chose this hotel for the facilities including the swimming pools. The outdoor pool was out of action as the heating had broken down and the indoor one was grubby and in need of refurbishment.
It's lovely hotel with nice sea view. Lcation is perfect and breakfast was lovely!
Just a bit of old dated and also swimming pool is not great, water is too warm and looks a bit dirty!
Large spacious room, clean with added extras, bottled water, tissues, iron & ironing board & many toiletries, spacious wardrobe area Huge comfy bed, probably queen size. Ideal location, a bit hilly though, just a short distance from town. Many restaurants with a different cuisine in the town. Friendly & helpful reception staff. Plenty of facilities in the hotel and in the local area.
Toilet seat broken & not cleaned properly on arrival. Outside heated swimming pool not working properly. Can be a problem finding a parking space. No fridge !!!
Spacious room! Amazing staff Great pool and facilities. Food and drink spot on.. Breakfast perfect. Fantastic position for the seafront..
Having to leave! :(
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will hopefully come back again. The hotel was excellent, staff very helpful and friendly, and although the outdoor pool wasn't available due to a broken pipe, the indoor pool more than made up for it. Food was very good, and the room was nice with a very large bed with a good firm mattress.
Apart from the bedroom sash window which as far as we could see couldn't be opened a little, it was either open or closed, so at night the room could get quite hot, there was nothing else we didn't like.
On arrival we were given a room upgrade to Lewis - spacious room was lovely looking over the sea - thank you ! Pool very good enjoyed early morning swims before it filled up. All staff helpful cooked breakfast very good - we are sure we will return.
The hotel, its grounds and location were stunning. Our rooms were also lovely. Staff were professional. Breakfast was great, could not fault it at all.
Unfortunately due to a burst pipe the outdoor pool was not heated whilst we were there which was disappointing. Pillows were also a bit hard. At times we felt the hotel lacked a bit of atmosphere for example, it may have been nice to have some music by the pool and in the bar of an evening.
The hotel position and the views are beautiful. There is a delightful outside sitting area where you can have coffee/drinks and food weather permitting. There is a brasserie at the hotel and a few advantages having it there. An attractive, small outdoor pool. Staff service, while mostly good and especially in the brasserie, does vary.
The hotel is a steep (in parts) 15 mins from central Torquay; in a sense isolated from other life in Torquay should you wish to pop back during the day. The brasserie has a tired feel and look about it as does the hotel dining room. The brasserie has an uninspiring and limited menu albeit one with a few "specials of the day". The hotel breakfasts lack an attractive presentation and initially there was only plain white and brown bread (small croissants on offer) despite an attractive pic on their website of the bread they bake. I did ask and a slightly better brown bread appeared but not home baked. The hotel lounge is dismal and the hotel does not radiate a caring or vibrant feel in any way. This hotel has a large time-share population. Initially, the pillows were very hard until I asked for a softer one. Despite 4 stars, the hotel did not deliver on this in a holistic sense.
