The staff are friendly and helpful, the location is good.
The place is old, and the price is not very friendly. I have been to Edinburgh before and with the same price I stayed in place far better.
Location and friendly staff.
Ridiculous hair dryer, very poor shower and general rundown-ness of decoration.
Location in Princes street Views of Edinburgh Castle from room, bar and restaurant were stunning food was fantastic
the lift was small and out of the way the stairs were fine, but a hike to the fourthfloor
Location is super. Breakfast service number 1. Good.
Without a doubt, the finest location in Edinburgh, and also the best view, the jolliest waiter at breakfast, and the warmest welcome ... And perhaps the best price. We were very happy with our choice.
Entering off the very busy Princes Street into the drab reception area gives one pause ..... But after that what's not to like?
Everything, dated in places, but that really didn't matter. Especially when you have a room with a view of the Castle. Comfortable clean rooms, friendly staff. Great breakfast. Location right at the heart of everything. This hotel has that touch of old school class, that modern hotels lack.
Needs new mattress on bed, sunk in middle. Didn't sleep for two nights.
Central location, opposite Edinburgh castle, good castle view from restaurant.
Staff business appearance, requested for old town view room, wasn't given one.
Spectacular view from dining room and breakfast room (and our bedroom).
Parking in car park at a distance when it was raining and we had a lot of baggage!
Everything! The staff was very helpful, we had little extras in the room each day like cookies, bottled water, tea and they'd even make us a early breakfast and deliver it to our room on days we were going to be out all day. The location is perfect....we had a view of the castle out our window and every morning the included breakfast was served in a room full of windows with a fantastic view of the park and castle and part of the city. I also like that they have baggage storage!!
Room 14 quiet Great breakfast Cracking views Brilliant staff
Expensive rate during the edinburgh festival.
polite attentive staff
No wifi access in rooms
Location, clean rooms, quite spacious
We were on the 4th floor and when we looked out the window we ha the stunning view of looking straight across at the beautiful Edinburgh Castle
The shower needed a boost and was'nt very hot.
Loved the location, everything is on your doorstep, smashing Scottish breafast with plenty of other options. Everything was spotlessly clean.
Rooms where a wee bit small and dated, a bit pricey but it was the festival, wish hotels didn't bump up the cost like this.
I took my mum for her 70th birthday. We stayed here while the tattoo was on. Outstanding location, breakfast and room. We had the castle suite which had a fantastic view of the castle. Lots of choice at breakfast and room was huge and very clean. Short walk from Edinburgh waverley station and directly on the main high street perfect for our weekend break.
Loved everything about our stay here...the staff, the baggage storage, the location, the breakfast, the extra touches like bottled water, cookies, tea and coffee. We had a room with a view of the castle and the breakfast room also had a view of the castle and Prince st.The staff brought us breakfast to our room really early when we had a bus to catch. It is an old hotel so people need to realize that. We would stay here again and recommend it highly to other travelers.
Loved the view from our room of the castle! Loved how they brought us an early breakfast to our room the morning we had a tour to catch. Loved the extra touches in our room like bottled water and cookies and tea and coffee. Loved how they stored our baggage for us. Very helpful staff!! Good breakfast with amazing views.
The free breakfast was worth the pay.
The room is a bit disappointed. We were given new room at the top floor (5th floor) with crack window.
Hard to beat the location, across the street from the Edinburgh Castle with sweeping views of the ramparts, park, and parliament building. GREAT Breakfasts, perhaps the best Scrambled Eggs/Smoked Salmon I've ever had. We arrived by train, walked everywhere, all made possible by the great location.
Our room overlooked the main street just outside the building, and during the business hours it was fairly noisy; due to our summer visit we had to keep the window open to stay cool, which meant we got a lot of noise as well, although the traffic noise died down once it got late enough.
Within Walking Distance of all Attractions. Friendly Staff. Excellent Views of Castle
Great location in the middle of Princess street. Staff was very friendly and helpful!
We liked the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff - the room and breakfast were all super. Also very helpful that there were happy to store our cases when we arrived before the room time.
The cost - web pics made hotel look better than it actually is. Corridor to lift smelt damp. Back door area was filthy, and perfect for either rats or a fire. Bathrooms could have been much cleaner.
