Spectacular view from dining room and breakfast room (and our bedroom).

Parking in car park at a distance when it was raining and we had a lot of baggage!

Everything! The staff was very helpful, we had little extras in the room each day like cookies, bottled water, tea and they'd even make us a early breakfast and deliver it to our room on days we were going to be out all day. The location is perfect....we had a view of the castle out our window and every morning the included breakfast was served in a room full of windows with a fantastic view of the park and castle and part of the city. I also like that they have baggage storage!!

Loved everything about our stay here...the staff, the baggage storage, the location, the breakfast, the extra touches like bottled water, cookies, tea and coffee. We had a room with a view of the castle and the breakfast room also had a view of the castle and Prince st.The staff brought us breakfast to our room really early when we had a bus to catch. It is an old hotel so people need to realize that. We would stay here again and recommend it highly to other travelers.

Loved the view from our room of the castle! Loved how they brought us an early breakfast to our room the morning we had a tour to catch. Loved the extra touches in our room like bottled water and cookies and tea and coffee. Loved how they stored our baggage for us. Very helpful staff!! Good breakfast with amazing views.

The free breakfast was worth the pay.

The room is a bit disappointed. We were given new room at the top floor (5th floor) with crack window.

Hard to beat the location, across the street from the Edinburgh Castle with sweeping views of the ramparts, park, and parliament building. GREAT Breakfasts, perhaps the best Scrambled Eggs/Smoked Salmon I've ever had. We arrived by train, walked everywhere, all made possible by the great location.

Our room overlooked the main street just outside the building, and during the business hours it was fairly noisy; due to our summer visit we had to keep the window open to stay cool, which meant we got a lot of noise as well, although the traffic noise died down once it got late enough.

We liked the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff - the room and breakfast were all super. Also very helpful that there were happy to store our cases when we arrived before the room time.

    Location

The cost - web pics made hotel look better than it actually is. Corridor to lift smelt damp. Back door area was filthy, and perfect for either rats or a fire. Bathrooms could have been much cleaner.

Location - 10min walk from station It was all OK. I might use again. WiFi excellent, comfortable bed and good refreshment tray

Noisy. Shower worked, but needs an upgrade. I'm guessing visitors with a room at the front (and the view),would be less ambivalent. I left a bag to collect later, but it was just left in the foyer and I was not given a receipt. I didn't feel comfortable with that and returned earlier than I intended to put my mind to rest

Food. View of the Castle from the breakfast room.

Room was extremely hot. Ventilation was poor. The window had buildings in a 2 foot square around the window. Privacy was poor with the blind not fully covering the window and having to leave the window open due the exteme heat of the room.

The room is very big and clean. I can see the whole bathroom is shining.

It makes huuuuuuge noise when you flush the toilet. It sounds like a constant thunder.

    Location, staircase.

Room was very basic. Metal cabinet for a wardrobe with no shelves. Old school radiators and exposed metal piping. Needed decorating.

The location is great, near the station and opposite the castle

It was a bit dowdy and old fashioned. We also came home at 11.30 to find ourselves locked out. The bell for the night porter was broken so we had to ring the hotel using our mobile to get someone to let us in! Scary!
