This hotel was an absolute find. We were expecting a minimum standard of clean sheets and a faint smell of cabbage in the corridors. Instead we got a very friendly welcome from lovely staff. The location was excellent, the room fresh with modern decor and bathroom. It wasn 't 5 star, but all our needs were met, comfy beds, tasty breakfast and the view of the castle superb. Our expectations were exceeded. The biggest surprise was Resturant 100. Very modern decor, stylish and a chef who really knew his craft. Please do eat here even if you arent stopping over, our meal was superb and better than some we have had in 'posh' resturants in London. Not a problem for us but the lift is very small and the opening could compromise some people using it due to the very small opening aperture.

My room was simply furnished but very comfortable, with the most amazing view of Edinburgh castle. ROSL has recently been refurbished, with a new company running the restaurant. It is all working very well. My early supper was fresh, well-cooked and very charmingly served. My meal, like the accommodation, was great value.

Very good location opposite Edinburgh castle, nice views from the hotel restaurant, very good breakfast choices. Bathroom shower was intermittent-low hot water pressure in the mornings so only possible to have cold shower or none at all! Room service closed at 9pm even though room service menu said it closes at10pm, hotel parking expensive 16 pounds per night with no security.

Excellent location for all Edinburgh has to offer. Reception pointed out the location of all the places of interest we wanted to visit and also gave us some ideas for our evening meal. All the staff could not have been more friendlier. Rooms were clean and comfortable . All the meals we had there were excellent and the choice of breakfast was plentiful. Everything we wanted out of our break - we would definitely stay there again Our room was at the back of the hotel and the noise from the kitchen extractor fan made it a bit noisy. Complained to reception after the 1st night as this went on until after 11.00pm and they reacted quickly to make sure it was turned off promptly the following night.

Cheaper than the George and a decent breakfast is included. Good bathrom once you have mastered the controls. Friendly receptionist. The lounge/bar was empty and there was no fire or welcome. It all felt a bit tired and with the renovation of Boots you do not get the view of the Castle from the dining room through the out of character aluminium windows.

Close to main attractions, big rooms, nice view, nice, professional staff. I was pleased to find coffee/tea making facilities in the room, bottled water, toilet amenities. The hotel is not so new, it needs some improvements. The double bed, was 2 single join together, and you could feel them moving apart. Breakfast finishes at 9.30, a little bit too early.

Exceed value for money! We enjoyed 3 night there, the castle suite with a big television is just located on the opposite to the Edinburgh castle with amazing view of Princess St. Although its a old hotel, they provide free wifi, cookies, tea and coffee, shower and hair gel and also body condition.Additionally, we are really satisfied with the rich Scottish breakfast including black pudding, hugies, bacon, sausages, potato scone, egg, toast bread, yoghourt, fruit and so on... All stuff are very nice,I'll definitely choose it next time. Nothing but the sound of the fan in bathroom is too loud

This hotel is right in the centre of Princes Street. Convenient to everything. The breakfast was outstanding and bar area warm and homely. We did not have evening meals in hotel, but that was choice. The menu looked good and prices were reasonable.
