This was a lovely hotel in an ideal location, staff very friendly and an excellent breakfast.Would stay again.
The location of the hotel was excellent, with good views of the castle from the dining room, breakfast was very good, the room was comfortable and clean. The staff we met were friendly and pleasant.
The room was small with a silly porthole window.
Staff very friendly location brilliant especially as we were Christmas shopping and enjoying the Christmas markets
Location, friendly staff
Bit cold in room but it was very cold outside
excellent position on Princes street right opposite the castle. Our room had a lovely view right over to castle. Lovely clean linen and towels. Plenty of seating space with 3 chairs in the room. Comfy bed.
Shower was very poor with very little pressure and water leaked all over floor whilst using the shower.
location excellent nice room at back of hotel breakfast inc was excellent would def go back .
The staff were excellent, in particular Michael who was attentive, informative, with a good sense of humour. Location was excellent with sublime views over castle from dining room. Breakfast excellent, dinner good. V good value. Room v well equipped.
Lift didn't go to all floors, stairs a little awkward in places. Would have been nice to have the customary shampoo/soap in room. Dinner was good but not cheap.
Views, location, pleasant ambiance.
Lack of hot water
Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff. Excellent breakfast. Central location.
The room I had faced an alley - no view at all. Ask for a front facing view and you'll see Edinburgh Castle.
Fabulous location. View of Castle from room and breakfast room. Great Breakfast. Comfortable rooms. Friendly & helpful staff.
Staff attitude, breakfast, location
Room looked a bit simpler and older than on photos.
Great staff, nothing was too much of an effort to help you. Beautiful view of the castle. Delicious breakfast.
Nothing. Do miss the old lift though
The staff were very helpful and friendly which makes such a difference to one's stay. The building is full of character and the staircase is very ornate. Positioned right in the heart of the city with a fantastic view of Edinburgh castle in the breakfast room.
Cann't think of anything.
Staff were great went for an overnight with my mum who was celebrating her 80th birthday and the receptionist was fantastic upgraded our room for a suite with a view of the castle
Couldn't complain about any of it
Superb breakfast staff really friendly and helpful .
Room location on the side.Wall a an outlook, very dark.Next to lift all 4th traffic past the room very noisy .
The location is excellent, with a great view of the castle from the dining room, a very nice breakfast.
If you are driving take note that the hotel does not have parking facilities, and the nearest available parking garage is extremely expensive!
A comfortable and friendly hotel a in a convenient location, close to the city centre with a view of Edinburgh Castle. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice.....and our waiter gave us some good advice about places to visit.
There was nothing to dislike.
The staff at the reception was friendly and helpful.
The lady who served us breakfast looked annoyed when we asked for water ( there was no on the table) and only brought one glass for two of us. Also she had to be explicitly asked to bring us some toast. I asked for a nice view when booking a room but instead got a room with a view to a brick wall and noise from air conditioning.
Location and views. room kovely
noise of fan and couple further down corridor could not sleep until after 2.00pm. corridor opposite room full of mattresses, irons and ironing boards
Front desk lady gave us a really nice upgrade the first night my adult granddaughter and I were there. The room was lovely. She told us our real room was too small for an extra bed. (A real understatement) Good breakfast included and good location.
The rest of our stay was in a horrid little room #18 on the 5th floor. No elevator there.Depressing ugly view. Loud furnace thing outside of window. Space heater had two missing wheels. Sink was broken. Shower drain did not work properly. We requested a later check out which was really messed up by Booking.com. Made us miss a tour we wanted to go on.
The location was good for shops and tourist attractions
The room was particularly small and dated the door knob missing from wardrobe not alot of security on room door and the bathroom was clean but dated and in need of refurbish
Lovely old fashioned politeness with modern efficiency from all those we spoke to. Delicious breakfast with fantastic view of Edinburgh Castle.
Mattresses could be updated? Otherwise very comfortable bedroom.
